  • Simply amazing.

  • many great voices (dietrich, piaff, streisand, sinatra, dion, sting, and so many others around the world) had a go at this insane song (and many to come will try), but this is truly one of the best covers by far. Ne me quitte pas has allways been one of my favorites, and didn't even know allison took a crack at it. I knew she has a great voice, and so I simply wanted to hear her version and was absolutely blown away! (also the first time I even bothered to comment on a video simply had to) thx

  • The passion that is shown coupled with deep sensuality in this version of Jacques Brel's - Ne Me Quitte Pas, blows me away everytime I listen to it. Those who discuss who has the best version miss the the genius in Alison Moyet's delivery of this classic song. Not many performance's such as this give me that excitement in being alive!!!

  • Excellent ALISON MOYET. I'm a Portuguese person that from a distance can see some ill words in some comments here. Alison Moyet is a great singer that marked very positively my twenties. Warm and powerful voice, profound interpretations and here, an astonishing command of the French Language. All the nationalists, please! Give us a break. All languages are beautiful because they are a mean of understand and understanding is what we all need.Thank you for reading. Obrigado. Merci. Gracias etc

  • wonderful!

  • Magnifique Alison Moyet !

  • I didn't think she sang it that well! Her pronunciation was a bit off (the word "quitte") where she never once pronounced the leter ' T '.

  • i prefer version from Maysa

  • Agree with both huxylady and BorrowedTime147 - the best of the covers IMHO. Remember how good Alison Moyet is: she did an excellent cover of the Billie Holiday classic 'That Ole Devil Called Love' back in 1985,. Well done MrsBissy for posting this - I confess I hadn't heard it until recently.

  • Alison+Brel=Love!!

  • WOW!! Miss Moyet has done herself proud. Breathtaking emotion!!! I wish l'd seen this performance...... Jealousy overrides me!

  • I agree absolutely with huxylady. I was surprised at this performance, enjoyed it very much.

  • Her recording is probably the best of all the covers I've heard so far. Not surprised because Alison is one incredible singer!

  • After Brel's original one the best version, by far.

  • belle version

    bravo

  • oooooo so nice to hear this i remember when she toured in the 80's alison always sang this so beautiful. xx

  • une vraie découverte, quelle voix, quelle profondeur, bravo

  • The song goes way over her head, but this lady sings from the heart and has a feel for a master-piece of modern music. Nothing wrong with that!

  • Superb. I generally find that anyone attempting to sing a Jaques Brel song falls some way short. But this is excellent and Alf brings almost as much emotion to the song as the great man himself.

    C'est magnifique.

  • Lovely.

  • Fantastic !!! But then again I love just about everything that Alison Moyet does.

    :0)

Jacques Brel has also written some of the best songs ever, so a great combination of song and singer !

  • This is the only version sung by someone else than Brel that gave me goosebumps. Very well done Mrs. Moyet.

  • Obviously no-one beats Monsieur Brel's agonisingly beautiful and painful version of his own song, but Ms Moyet's version is by far the best of the covers I've heard- very good!

  • This is a wonderful song. My favourite versions are from Maysa M, Shirley Bassey (English) and a New Zealander named Bic Runga. I do like this version too.

  • Meilleure reinterpretation de cette chanson du genie Brel. Les Sting, Julio et compagnie peuvent aller se rhabiller! J'aime la version de Nina Simone mais la c'est un tout autre calibre.

She beats every other versions (except Brel of course). She has the voice, the passion, and carries the emotion so well.

    Merci Bayerischer Rundfunk et MrsBissy!

  • C'est émouvant

  • Gorgeous version of 'ne me quitte pas", but still can't beat the original by Jacques Brel.

  • Marlene Dietrich -'Bitte Geh Nicht Fort ' - It is amazing version - "Ne Me Quitte Pas"

  • magnifique

  • wel like french singer realy best belgian song ever yazoo alison moyet

  • This explains why she sings Ne Me Quitta Pas so well: [From Wekepedia] Moyet was born in Billericay, Essex, England, to a French father and English mother. She grew up in Basildon, where she attended school... She was involved in a number of punk rock, pub rock and blues bands in the South East Essex area during the late 1970s and early 1980s, including The Vandals and the Screamin' Ab Dabs, The Vicars and The Little Roosters (the latter featuring Gary Lammin formerly of Cock Sparrer).

  • What a wonderful performance and passion and thanks for sharing! I've listened to Jacques himself, Maysa M., Nina S., Julio I., Sting, Frida B., Mireille M., and many others, but I like this the most. Does anybody know where's Alison from? Thanks!

  • This is my favorite song and I like most of the version by most artist. This version is wonderful. Itune has a version by a singer, Nina Martinique. It is amazing.
