Look at Ntessa go viral on alto at background vocal. Then the great teacher himself takes up the lead, with guitar in tow! Why did they have to die. That whole lineup doing Kikou (Bialu, Kiawakana, Ntessa and Franco) all gone not to mention Gerry, Ntoya and Rondot in the guitar, drums and sax respectively
Me thinks the person who introduced fast beat genre of ''soukuoss'' messed Congolese Rhumba. Ndombe's son, Awilo the son of Vicky Longomba and others are musicians but they've deviated from this sweet tunes to Noisy beats that do not make sense. hopefully one day they will see some light and strum a guitar to this genre
These people just like in alot of the other video's look like Europeans listening to classical music only thing is, this has rythm. They must have some kind of better music cause I think this is African classical
Bathbambu, thanks all the same. I am hoping someone can come and rescue some of us the trouble of simply enjoying the music without undesrtanding it. I am quietly researching Luambo's music with the view of writing something for the general reader and Africans in general. Unfortunately, I do not know Lingala but was a great fan of Franco since the 1970s when I was high school
Outstanding! Thank you for sharing one of my favorite Franco/TPOK songs. The songs that contrast the front line singers with Franco's voice are my favorite.
good story by franco le maitre!

Do you think the current genre of musicians can play live music like these Dudes! here
LWAKA 2 years ago
@LWAKA NO
Cuurent musician are all about puting on an act than being serious about the craft of making music.
Most music today is about the visual performance, the dancing. No serious attention is given to the composition/lyrics, the orchestration

Indeed our equivalent to Classical Music of Africa... TPOK lived to its billing ''The All Powerful orchestra''
Just for thought ''' Why didn't their sons and daughters take music from where their fathers left it from''?

I wondered the same thing...it is a shame that all we have are memories....but they are great ones indeed
