I think HOA is the most stupidity we create for ourselves - the home owners - you pay for the HOA & you get a lot of problems from them. You pay tax for your own house then HOA is the real owner. You have to ASK them before you can do something on your OWN HOUSE
The Community built was set up to have members pay dues to take care of the common areas which owners don't have to worry about. You DO NOT have to hire a Management Company! The Homeowners can elect Members of the Board and work together to keep piece. It has been proven to be effective. Members can be ousted by a petition at any time.
Yes. Your HOA should have insurance to cover out door repairs if fees are short.. CCR;s and State Statues, give you legal aspects of this messy group policy. People who get on the Board often let the Power go to their heads changing assessments without votes of homeowners. This can be taken to court. The homeowners have the final say.

So does that mean the HOA is primarily used to care for the outside of residents portions; streets, sidewalks, parks, recreation areas, ect?
