  • He might have already made that deal at the crossroads before he met Ike. He got ability from the devil, but his style derived from Ike. That's my opinion.

  • This short film of yours is absolutely awesome, man! Congratulations, Glenn! I love Blues and, of course, the legendary Robert Leroy Johnson along with the others blues masters. I'm not a native american, actually, I'm from Peru, so sorry if my English's not as well as it should be, hehehe. Well, after having watched your movie, I really got my ears on the version of "Hellhound on my trail", so emotional, so powerful. Please, can you tell me where I find it? See you, man.

  • Foda!

  • Good stuff. Thanks for this!

  • really well done film

  • poisonings were a common form of murder and largely undetected in those days.many unrecognized so it be prudent to watch your intake if in shady happenings.

  • The large woman reminds me Big Mama Thornton.

  • where to find a playlist of the sountrack ??I'm specialy looking for the 2 first titles of this part.If someone knows...thanks in advance.

  • I love Johnson!!! To praise him the band Dirty Sound Magnet made a video clip about his life and death. I think he would be proud to see the effects of his music almost 100 years after his death. Check it out

watch?v=FvQoB5j_LmI (Or go directly on my youtube profile :-))

You won't be disapointed. True blues rock still exists

  • Have you heard this theory

People with Marfans usually have long thin fingers.

    - One symptom of Marfans is a lazy eye, or a detached lens.

    - Another symptom is ptosis, or a droopy eye lid.

    - Marfan victims are usually tall.

    - Marfan Syndrome effects the joints and skeletal system.

    - Marfans can cause Aortic Dissection, which causes a quick death.

    - In more than one case, Aortic Dissection caused by Marfan Syndrome has caused the victim to fall to all fours, and howl like a dog

  • @CletusColtrane

It is now believed that Robert Johnson suffered from Marfan Syndrome. What is that? Here’s the definition:

Marfan syndrome (or Marfan’s syndrome) is a genetic disorder of the connective tissue.

So it is now believed that this is what killed Robert Johnson.

As you can see, it is far more than likely that Robert Johnson, a tall, slim, loose jointed guitar wizard with a history of “resolving cataract” and unexplained sudden death had Marfans syndrome.

  • That was absolutely fantastic, thanks so much for sharing. I can't believe you only got an A- for that, I think it's worth much more. Can you tell me where I can get a copy of Eddie Cotton Jr's version of hellhound? I cant find it anywhere.

  • Been watching over and over, girl..... you took me back to the "MountainTop".....LOL

Can't wait to see the hold flim.

  • Trice I'm so proud of you.... go girl. Gre8 as always. And Eddie Cotton doing his thing as well . Can't beat it.

  • does anyone know where I can get a recording of Hellhounds on my trail by Cotton Jr.?

  • so the story is he was good cause he sold his soul to the devil? then he lost his talent cause there was hellhounds on his trial, then he died?

  • Patrice Moncell is a star in every sense of the word. If you ever get the chance to see her perform, do whatever you have to do to make it happen.

  • good film. righr. patrice moncell & vasti jackson were gret!!!

  • Good frilm. I am on the side that says that Robert sold his soul to get where he went. Many musicians sell their souls in our day and time..Dr. Dre..Snoop..Eminiem..etc The song about the hell hound dogs on his tail tells something. Also I heard he went in to a frenzy the days before he died and even howled like a dog the night he died.

  • amazing Blues !!

  • i really like this movie

  • Always been fascinated by the Robert Johnson story. That being said , that fat woman can sho sang,,, listen to that chop from :40 to :43. Gotta love them blues:)

  • Due to copyright issues relating to an actual song from the day Vasti Jackson wrote this song just for this film. I only asked him to write a song as if it were written in the 1920's...

  • nice movie only the very ending is not totally ok, I mean it insists on the theory that Robert Johnson got poisened... but theres no true evidence of how he died.

  • No evidence except what was told by those who were around him.

  • then again.. who does not want to tell to have been around him.. A man's word you cannot trust unless clear evidence shown :)

  • the whole film explores all the theories of his life. it was a great film, it shows his life story as the mystic myth/ legend changing at the crossroad and also as struggling musician who paid his dues learning and perfecting his art. even the scene of his death its shown to us as the poisoned theory and through his eyes as the mystic death. great great film

  • @MysteryHunterz Im sure if you search for interviews with Honeyboy Edwards you will find that directly after robert passed the man who gave him the lie admitted it but was never asked questions due to roberts sister not really interested in learning. He was without a doubt dosed with red devil lie for exactly the reason dramatized by this film. Honeyboy Edwards heard the gent admit it and whos gonna investigate a brothas murder....who

  • @bakedsushi Thats exactly the point. Interviews... Media attention.... Thats what everybody fascinates and wants.. Who the hell dnt wanna be on tv with such a legendary matter. Fact is It always will be a myth... and it allways will be a legend. Now stop crying about who is right and who is wrong... and listen to Robert Johnson play out his heart for ya

  • @MysteryHunterz OK, you made your point for what its worth. I am almost positive I was not crying nor was my comment intended to cause so much distress from you. I just like every other Johnson fan, seeks answers to our own personal questions. I am sorry it made you feel like an attack or somehow made it seem like I really care what peoples impressions are. I did however enjoy John Hammond's "sprituals to swing documentry........

  • @MysteryHunterz where he was about 2 days too late getting Mr Johnson to new york for the concert he had set up. It was to introduce Mr Johnson to the world after Mr Hammond arranged for Robert to go to dallas in the first place to record his songs. Mr Hammond just missed him due to this death and mr Hammond investigated it so that he knew the cause of death. Mr Hammond had personal accounts from three people but could not get any officals interested.

  • i love this story

  • Thanks for making and sharing this film, It's fantastic and was worth every bit of my time to watch it.

  • Very good, that's mostly how I read the story. Think there was something else about him getting lessons during that year but can't remember who. Good direction too & choice in actors.

  • Whose singin the hellhound on my trail at the end????

  • Eddie Cotton Jr.

  • This is a great film! Congrats.

  • LOL HAHAHAHA OMG dude --- THAT made my fukin day!!!!!!!! LMFAO

  • this is a great short film!!

  • Jimi hendrix was 27 when he died.

  • as well as janis joplin, brian jones, and kurt cobain.

  • jim morrison

  • I love the part where Robert adapts the piece from piano to guitar. Closest to biographical I've ever seen.

  • wow was that the real robert johnson singing at the end (the blues fallind down like hell?)

  • no, though it is a cover

  • That was Eddie Cotton...recorded in 1999.

  • Wow....that was just awsome.....awsome!

  • That scene with the guitar strings breaking one by one at the end was beautiful... Keep up the amazing work. this film has true potential... One of the best on Youtube!

  • we need more blues

  • Love it just like the first two! Great work!

  • Nice try. Keep it up check out esteembpo + com for social media marketing. hjnhnmjkmj

  • You found a lot of awesome talent for this film, man

  • really? they did a pro job.

  • what is rthe name of movie? Please

  • STOP BREAKIN' DOWN

  • Ive heard prince was gonna play R J

  • Over the years there have been a lot of different people rumored to play RJ. At this point Prince is much much to old.

  • you're right..I think Prince would get annoyed to look like a counrty blues player

  • imagine if there was a "final 24 hours" episode on robert johnson

  • It'd just be him sweating and dying in a crappy hospital bed.

  • this is excellent!!!! outstanding!! thanks for sharing your work.

  • EXCELLENT WORK!!! A+++

  • Thanks... though my final grade for the class was A-.

  • that's just wrong!

  • And the Oscar for Best Picture goes to Glennthebull for Robert Johnson Stop Breaking Down!

    Fantastic job Glenn.

  • As everyone else has said, this is great. Reminds me of those little shorts they have on PBS sometimes between time slots. Have you considered trying to get it on something like that?

  • Outstanding work!! Strong writing, sublime acting and amazing music!! Somebody should throw a shed load of money at you to expand this!!!

  • heavy clip!

    Lee

    Sawdsust Caesar

  • this is my second time watching it and the first time i thought it was a reall movie i even searched it on imdb. com lol great job

  • Fantastic job! All the proper elements of fine cinema are here: story, timing, characters, actors, costumes, etc. When will it be on public screens? This is really worth, man. Congratulations.

  • Excellent clips!! When is the film released or where can I get it??

  • You made this! Man, I thought it was a special taped off HBO! Incredible.

  • Thanks for the film, you did an amazing job!!!

  • who r all the actors, and the characters, they're so professional

  • an't that big mamma thorton

  • That's Patrice Moncell Gathright of the Mississippi Gospel Choir.

  • excellent film my friend i love the way it was told from son houses perspective. Better than the crossroads movie by far. Whos playin and singin the johnson songs sounds different.

  • Eddie Cotton and Son House are played by Eddie Cotton and Keith B. Brown. They are both excellent musicians from the south. Look them up in the youtube search box.

  • That was awesome! Great Job! Thanks!

  • brilliant. Shows that while Johnson was a massive talent, the myth and mystery about him also remains. can't wait for the full length feature.

  • I thought he drank from an unsealed whiskey bottle

  • Brilliant. You made the story we all know come to life despite its legendary shadow.

  • this was great, makes you wanna get out there and just play the blues like johnson.

so sad the music today has no soul :/

  • Thanks!! Been to both of roberts supposed grave sites in leflore co ms.

  • thanks for making that and sticking it up. class!

  • That was class.Leagues ahead of most of the pompous, hollow, money heavy but substance poor shit on tv.

  • Who are the actors?

  • Eddie Cotton as Robert Johnson, Keith Brown as Son House, Vasti Jackson as Ike Zinneman, and Patrice Moncell Gathright as May. Put a search on on any of them in YouTube search and you'll find some excellent clips.

  • Make sure you add 'blues' to their name in the search box.

  • "Whilst drinking her Mississippi rotten'...i'll be hands down', face first in the cotten."-

  • Imagine how good he would have become, how influential, how famous he would have become if he had lived for a normal span of years...

    O O o

    _________

    R. I. P. Robert Johnson

  • STrange how the best of the best never live full span.

  • where was that last scene filmed?

  • Greenwood Mississippi.

  • Great ending of him walking away

  • I want so much see that film..but i think tahat that times in Delta..were so much worse...

  • I don't think people talked like that in those days!

  • I really enjoyed watching this movie. I believe this film is the first one to dipct Ike Zimmerman related to R Johnson.

Nice and wish your future sucess as film maker.

    Ted

  • damn this was really good man, this could be a whole 2 hour movie - if only we had more about his life

  • This whould series was brilliant! Very clever and very entertaining. Thanks for sharing.

  • they shuld definately make a robert johnson movie

also the version of hellhound was brilliant at the end dont suppose u have it as an mp3?

  • Excellent film. I could sit and watch this if it was 3 hours long.

  • Is a slide tuning:

    D-G-D-G-B-D

  • yes. that is called open g

  • Didn't Johnson actually use open A rather G?

G is my favourite tuning though.

  • i love the film its just a pity that its so short. I wish roberts life wasnt such a mystery.

  • Does anyone know what tuning they have there guitars in? Is a slidey tuning?

  • it kind of depends on the person. a lot of people back then liked playing in open a and open e, so that the scales wouldn't be all over the place. But some would play slide in standard tuning too. After you figure out the finger picking its not so hard, a lot of it is right hand technique.

  • anyone know where i can get this

  • Any chance of getting an uninterupted copy of the whole film? It's a nice piece, well done, screw the critics.

  • Wonderful conclusion for a great film and amazing story from theartist who had influenced so many people. I love the images of the string dancing in the wind !

  • merci glenn pour ce magnifique documentaire-film

qui peut facilement faire la 8eme partie des films de Scorcese sur le blues

    bravo l'artiste

  • glennthebull you sure are an awesome filmaker... find distribution and sell this... Hey i want dibs on the first copy!

  • I call seconds!

  • 25 minute run time or not, I've got half a dozen people that would kill to see this! Plus me!

  • well done

  • Wonderful, this is a great film version of Johnson's life. I am extremely impressed. Well, done.

  • was it your intention to have hellhound on my trail sound a bit like SKIP JAMES? Or was it just how it turned out?

  • Pretty much thats how it turned out. The musician is named Eddie Cotton Jr. He normally plays the electric guitar + is a great vocalist. He was introduced to Robert Johnson just for this short. He picked it up pretty good. The musician playing Son House is Keith Brown. His main style is authentic Delta Blues. Lastly the musician playing Ike Zinneman is Vasti Jackson. Put in a youtube search for these musicians. They are all very good.

  • Okay this video was really good. I always had an idea like this, but could never pull it off as you did. This is great. Please make a short independent movie. It'll gain cult status, it might even blow up. Turn this short 20 minute movie promo into a nice 1 hr movie. You just already got the basic ideas. Get some film editors to help with small things and you can do it.

  • I'm suprised no one has pulled off a johnson epic yet and you seem to be on the tracks. I hope that you turn this small project into a movie for us that you could put on the net or on a site for dvd order. Seems you got everything? a script well researched, excellent actors, musicians, director, etc. just more practice and you got a movie

  • You really, REALLY need to make more shit like this man. if this dosnt make it to 1,000,000 views within the next week or 2 i'd be really surprised.

    Well done.

  • is that lady supposed to be Big Mamma Thorton?
