  • how is the second on illigel

  • phaha , she is waay off. that's soo illegal , i play travel 14 && 16 u . I'm 14 been pitching for 6 years and iknow for sure that waaaaaaaay off.

  • These girls are not crow hopping, they are leaping! If you look in the ASA, USSSA, IFA rulebook it will talk about leaping off the rubber. Unfortunately, in 2011 each association has changed the rule a little on leaping. Now it is at the umpires discretion on to call it, but if you ask most umps they will tell you as long as the toe is pointing down it wont be called.

  • what i dont get is that the ump calls unnoticable illegal pitches and these pitchers are so noticable and they dont get called for it

  • When the pitcher REPLANTS and pushes off that airborne foot...its a crowhop....I havent seen any of the girls in this vid CROWHOP. All of the examples are ILLEGAL pitches. The coach should talk to the ump, and verify the foot drag in the dirt near the rubber if they want the ump to call it.

  • Some of these comments are interesting. I umpire many levels and divisions of fast pitch softball. Every single pitch here is illegal. Some of the issues are ill informed umpires not knowing the rules, informing a player that as long as the toe is pointed down it is legal. The other issue is umpires not calling it to not have everyone complaining they are taking the game out of the player's hands. Some umps don't want to argue, especially during tourneys.

  • It is interesting how US Softball rules differ from international rules (Rules that Softball USA have to play by in international tornaments). Leaping is allowed by the ISF and is a normal part of Fast pitch. There is also no difference between womens and mens rules. (There are only distinctions between fast pitch, slow pitch and modified pitch). My home country (Australia) decided some years ago now to go fully in line with the ISF rule book (especially with pitching).

  • 1:10 oooohhhhyeaaabrother

  • Pretty much ALLLL of these girls just need to learn to not jump off the mound . When they jump off the mound it makes their pitch faster . But , it's illegal .

  • that was a major crow hop

  • both of her feet have to be on the rubber when she starts off her pitch.......and she cant jump that far out she has to push off

  • You know whats wierd about it is that they all pitch the same ways

  • @iluvyu341 what ive noticed lately most pitchers are being taught wrong thank god im not one of them

  • so its illeagal when both feet are off the ground

  • What's frustrating is that umpires don't call these.

  • any time both feet are in the air at the same time it is illeagle, all pitchers are illeagle but in regular tim some are hard to detect, pointing the toe does not make them leagle if the get air above the plane of the infield

  • The back foot must drag or "fly" LEVEL WITH THE GROUND if there is a hole. softballchicc 399 is in error. The foot cannot fly up in an arc if it is not touching. Toe must be down and on a straight level plane with the surrounding ground and drag once the hole is cleared. Dead giveaway to this type of illegal pitch is the foot and sometimes even the hips arcing upward. Have lots of video of this .Will post soon. Have shared footage with Blue to help them learn to spot this

  • If her back foot does not stay in contact with the ground it is an illegal pitch. Plain and simple. Both feet need to start on the mound - then push off keeping the right foot (in the case of a right handed pitcher) in contact with the ground. Unfortunately umps rarely see this...until you bring it up.

  • The pitcher in purple at about 2:00 is not illegal at all her toe is pointed to the ground and she finishes by dragging so thats O.K

  • @softballchic399 yes it is. the toe has to drag

  • @razerheartbeat12 no it doesn't have to all the way as long as the toes pointed down and it isnt a crow hop i just played a tournament(i play travel ball) and we tryed to call this pitcher for illegal pitch and it was just like the one at 2:00 and the umpire said: "No it's not illegal as long as the toe is pointed down and she isn't too far off the ground and if she finishes dragging".

  • @softballchic399 i play travel too. it depends what age group your playing with. i play with 18U

  • @softballchic399 It is actually illegal. Her toe may look like it's touching the ground in regular speed but at the snapshot and slow-mo,you can see it is off the ground, thus creating an illegal pitch ;)

  • its not illegal if you have your back foot toe pointed @ the ground right after you push off.

but the last one is obviously illegal.

  • @popcornpiggie all of them are illegal pitches. the back foot is in the air when the front foot hasnt even landed.

  • I get my pitchers to stride out to 20" beyond their height. Example if my pitcher is

5'5" or 65" tall she gets out to 84", that's seven feet..

  • @treviansilver im 5'5 and my stride is 9ft

  • You can't leap that far! haha!!!

  • The first two pitchers have severe leaps that I would call illegal every time.

The last three pitcher's leaps are not as pronounced that I might or might not call depending on the conditions in front of the pitcher's plate.

I've called the 24 in. violation many times. That violation is obvious.

  • Leah Taylor from Tennessee? 1:04-1:12 ??

  • umps won't call it.
