I'm American so most things are totally flip flopped like drivers seat, side of the road, and even door hinges... Anyways this was a greatly shot film and was fun to watch... Thank You Georgia!!!!!
I really liked the video. It was well made, and I happen to be in a film study class right now. My two issues with this film are, a problem with the sound continuity, and really hectic shot changes. I though the shot changes took away from the suspence a little because of how often they occured. But these are easily fixed as you get more experirence. Good job!
really enjoyed the suspense. the storytelling was great. details like the change of the clothes she was wearing before going to sleep and after make it interesting. Only thing I can critique is the overusage of (too) shallow DOF. it's a trait that many young filmmakers have, it gives films a modern look. but imo a sooner or later dated look. I don't know if you've seen any visconti films, it's the prime example of how a background can make the foreground more interesting. And I know you tried to
Most people have been positive, but i say you have a talent beyond the praise you already have got. The camera work is excellent, the editing, considering done in a rush, is good.I can see a future for you and it looks like you are serious. I use an old Canon myself,it's a nice camera.I'm double your age and the quickest shoot and edit i have done took a lot longer than a day.You should be proud! Don't stop what you are doing
You're welcome, i meant it.It took me 3 years to make my first film, that's a mistake jumping into full lengh too soon. For a short, and you're at Uni, you hit the spot perfect.Actress was good too, presume she's a friend.Actors are an expense people in the biz would say you have to invest in, but if you know someone who's decent go with them.Whatever feels right
I think you used way too many close ups, but for what it is (shot and cut in a day), I thought was good. Remember to use a tripod! The camera wasn't too shaky, but I could hear handling (squeaking) noises at times. I'm not aware of the time constraints you had, but you'd probably want to spend more time editing future short films; some cuts were too fast, and the audio was terrible. The more time you put into refining things, the better they will be!
you're a good cinematographer. I like how you frame shots and the vibrant colours are really eye catching. Story takes a while to master but you're a young so you'll get there in no time - BRAVO!
Wow, great filming I thought considering it was all done in 1 days production, really good stuff. Possible part 2 on the horizon? One question, did you do any colour correction/grading on this in FCE? The starting sequence in the morning sunset had a very overly red colour too it. Anyway, great stuff.
@fritzov Thanks. No, sorry I can't do that considering it took 11 hours to upload this, the files would be too large for 1080p to upload, also my internet isn't fast enough.
I really enjoyed this! I liked that throughout most of the film it was quiet, and she was quiet, and you kind of had to figure out what was going on without the actor telling you. The pacing was really good and the storyline was quite interesting. I liked that you took an object and made it like it brought the paranormal activity into the house. It also makes you think that someone left that silver acorn at the edge of that lake/pond for a reason ;)
A lot of people like to vouch for the 7D which is an amazing camera, but I get the feeling the T2i gives you the same for a lot less. This is one of those videos where I've seen the T2i match the 7D, then again, it is also very well shot.
@movieboyandco 550d and 7d is basically the same camera so they are going to preform almost the same. 7D does have some more to it but you will get the same quality in images and videos.
Yeah, that's the impression I have. It'sj just that so many of my film friends like to say about how the 7D it's better and all that, and they give me crap when I tell them that I pretty much see them the same.
Its really good, the shots, audio, editing. The only thing that lacks is the Story, i watched the whole 10 minutes and couldn't really grasp what it was about. I understand that their is a silver acorn, but why was it bagging to get out? their needs to be a story behind it, and because of this i lost interest. Im not trying to be nasty, im just saying what i feel could of been improved.
Anyway you seem to have put alot of work and effort into this, great job!
@DerangedGames No worries, welcome opinions! I agree, stories are an area of film I'm not as good at- i'm better at the interpretation of the story through cinematography and editing, but thanks for the feedback :)
At first I was skeptical at how this was going to be, but it was such a brilliant short film with depth and some suspense, I don't know if you went for that style but that's what it felt like.
What camera(s) did you use to film this? Quality is brilliant!
@iAdam19 Really appreciate that, thank you! Yep I was definitely going for a film with suspense but also simplicity- i.e. barely any dialect, mainly static shots etc, glad that is clear!
hi ! love ur vids. but, how did u get the multiple angles, but same shot? did u pause, and move.. or did u use many cameras. something i have always wondered. please answer ! GREAT VIDEO!
@xBeFierce Thank you! Well on some of the shots we just paused but on others the actress did the same thing several times for me to get different angles.
Also it looks like you're started to get your style of film making settled, looks like Uni is rubbing off on you.
The problems of audio can be (and usually are) fixed in post production (using ADR and mixing the sounds in) to take out some of the hissy audio from the camera's Microphone.
Handheld shots can feel a bit seasick after a while, once u pick up decent Tripod (or even a monopod) your shots will improve.
Daaaaaang. I was thinking damn, this is ten minutes long and I'm defiantly not going to watch all of it. but I did. And it did NOT get boring once! :D You've done a stupendous job!
Hey, what software do you use to edit? I've noticed the sound is quite jumpy when you cut between different shots - I'd recommend using a crossfade or some sort of fade between each audio clip to make it smoother. Cause I like the diagetic sound and I think it adds a lot of the mood :)
Great short film. I recognise that music on the car radio from 1:12 to 1:17 to be yours from that MysteryGuitarMan video you did. Even though it was filmed in a day, I thought it was very good.
And everytime you uploaded a new video I was so happy. Your films are so beautiful and I notice that you're filming with your heart. it's so great, really..i hope i could do this too but i never will =D

Interesting story but would have spent longer on post production and sound.

show isolation of the character (probarly) but I don't like to have a such blurry background that I don't see anything no more.
