The British and Americans invaded together, but the US were the main invasion force, commiting more troops and more equipment. well i was in the US military and in the theatre and no you don't have access to all of our equipment. although much improved lately, coordination among NATO forces is subpar at best. the b2 bomber is now a dinosaur(30 years old) it(comm) will get better in the future but as long as your ground forces are unable to communicate with our forward air this shit will keep on happening. we don't bomb our own pal if so find me a news clipping that details it.
dude please your military isn't a fourth the size of the US military and we spend 5 times the money on training alone so don't bring up training. we fly most of the sorties like 90% of them. it's public knowledge as to how many planes you have in your airforce so go look it up(not many) the main point is we don't bomb our own troops because we have advanced communications equipment that you dont have, you have orange paint as a deterent to friendly fire and this is a big problem at 35000 feet.
As a ex British Infantry soldier who served in the first gulf war and NI it needs to be said that friendly fire is a sad fact of war and its all to easy for civilians to sit back in judgement on service men and women who not only risk their lives but also risk making these errors despite following their training or instructions.

@Gonnakillyou You have to remember there is a difference between VHF and UHF talk. When the flight (the group of pilots) are able to talk to each other, it can be as formal as flight lead wants it to be. When talking to a FAC or a AWACS, it generally follows what is required but its important that you get your information across.
It was an accident, you can't really blame Americans for this. He double checked to make sure they weren't friendlies and it was a miscommunication of either the men in the vehicles or a misinterpretation of information. Anything can happen, it's war, you have to throw your normal mindset out of the window when viewing military standpoints.
To date there has been no friendly fire incident involving british on american blue on blue, Because procedure in the British armed forces doesnt allow for it,

@ngf396 Except the fact we never had a record of the worst friendly fire incident like "Cap arcona incident" when a group of RAF bombed 4 ships carrying 7,000 Allied POWs. Only 350 survived. 500 of our POWs are killed as well. Before that happened, Swedish Government warned the RAF via radio and communication about the ship and they know it yet they still bombed it to hell.

Wrong. No charges were brought to the FAC, Sergeant Mark Perren. The Sergeant was deafened by mortar fire and when he radioed the correct eight-digit coordinates to the pilots. However, when the pilots repeated the coordinates back to him, they did so incorrectly and due to the deafness caused by explosions from mortars, Perren misheard what they said and reply "Roger". This incident was caused by Perren being unequipped with a headset due to lack of supplies.

The British and Americans invaded together, but the US were the main invasion force, commiting more troops and more equipment. We did however deploy submarines, an aircraft carrier and about 50,000 troops, so an immensely powerful force. The Brits and Americans work together in war

well i was in the US military and in the theatre and no you don't have access to all of our equipment. although much improved lately, coordination among NATO forces is subpar at best. the b2 bomber is now a dinosaur(30 years old) it(comm) will get better in the future but as long as your ground forces are unable to communicate with our forward air this shit will keep on happening. we don't bomb our own pal if so find me a news clipping that details it.

dude please your military isn't a fourth the size of the US military and we spend 5 times the money on training alone so don't bring up training. we fly most of the sorties like 90% of them. it's public knowledge as to how many planes you have in your airforce so go look it up(not many) the main point is we don't bomb our own troops because we have advanced communications equipment that you dont have, you have orange paint as a deterent to friendly fire and this is a big problem at 35000 feet.

When the flight (the group of pilots) are able to talk to each other, it can be as formal as flight lead wants it to be. When talking to a FAC or a AWACS, it generally follows what is required but its important that you get your information across.

@ngf396 Except the fact we never had a record of the worst friendly fire incident like "Cap arcona incident" when a group of RAF bombed 4 ships carrying 7,000 Allied POWs. Only 350 survived. 500 of our POWs are killed as well. Before that happened, Swedish Government warned the RAF via radio and communication about the ship and they know it yet they still bombed it to hell.

Without US air-support, their lives would be more danger. None of them appeared to be wankers like yourself. Before you slag us complain about your FFs first. Wrong. No charges were brought to the FAC, Sergeant Mark Perren. The Sergeant was deafened by mortar fire and when he radioed the correct eight-digit coordinates to the pilots. However, when the pilots repeated the coordinates back to him, they did so incorrectly and due to the deafness caused by explosions from mortars, Perren misheard what they said and reply "Roger". This incident was caused by Perren being unequipped with a headset due to lack of supplies.

@Vidzstreamer Ya i read that two months ago. I believe no was at fault. The British FAC could not hear the pilot correctly i believe it was the British government fault for not giving him the noise cancelling headset he needed to help his boys.

@publicmario17 This is incorrect, the Americans have killed more British personnel than we have. I understand that shit happens, but please do not shift responsibility from your forces to ours. The Americans actually made a programme for US troops in Iraq that was based around preventing friendly fire as the cases became ridiculous. What annoyed people more was the US governments failure to co-operate as send the pilots over to give evidence in the investigation and trial. That's what angered us

Again a problem about funding early on in the iraq war the MOD didnt start preparing until weeks before invasion,as to not start panic.There were numerous deaths because of shitty radios,shitty or no armour,20 year old land rovers fit for northern ireland,they were penny pinching,wanting to fight a war on a peacetime budget.They have funded them more now in afghan but at the time wat the fuk they were doing with funding was unbelievable.Talk about holding on to our centuries old rep.
