  • Can you only run one XP-compatible app at a time?

  • Damn you high resolution!!!

  • please tell me which screen recorder do you use in this video?

  • @usamatariq80 It was Camtasia studio :)

  • is it useful for gaming???...i mean, if its lag on windows 7, is it less lag in windows xp mode??

  • Is there a way to close the XP mode with out leaving it on hibernate? when in hibernation does it take up memory?

  • yeah, really great, like f**k it is, will not work with any less than windows 7 professional. So, bottom line? Bill Gates still sucks arse

  • ehm this virtual thing isnt on my computer...

  • windows xp mode is only for software limitations on vista & 7, that can run on XP...if u want to install a pci device f.e. it won't do it even if u have the proper driver...

  • @boogeyman025 you can

  • how do you get this?

  • so, this is an operating system within an operating system. This is Windows Inception.

  • @jhurst111 W-Inception :3

  • does it increase gaming performance just like xp?

  • Comment removed

  • Microsoft in Microsoft? ... microception :D

  • So it's a bit like bootcamp for mac except its running xp within w7 instead. I wonder if you can run xp inside w7 inside a mac?!

  • @moogle301 But can you run windows 95 inside windows 2000 inside windows xp inside windows vista inside windows 7 inside OS 9 inside OS X Leopard inside OS X Snow leopard inside OS X Lion inside 12 different versions of linux

  • @comphead1 VMware in VMware in VMware in VMware in VMware Mac in VMware Mac in VMware Mac in VMware Mac in 12x VMware for linux systems.

If you have 192GB ram it'll work :D

  • im using windows xp to post this comment shold i upgrade to windows seven

  • @icycoolstudios yes windows 7 is WAY better than XP

  • once i tried to install windows xp mode in windows 7. when it asks to restart, i restarted the computer. then, when it said "configuring windows", i thought that the computer will turn back into windows xp. because of that, i unplugged the computer before it completely configures windows. when i restarted, i got a BSOD and i have to restore my machine to factory settings...

  • tomara que o PC Virutal tenha Windows 8 eu sou apaixonado por um deles (mesmo se nunca vi um)

  • Is there any reason to do this if I have it on Virtual PC?

  • Why won't this work on my windows 7 home premuim 64-bit

  • @kevin989able It's only for Professional, Ultimate, and Enterprise... but people have posted videos here on youtube telling you how to get it for Home Premium. If ya end up doing this, be sure to create a few system restore points just in case :P

  • @kevin989able it only comes with the professional editions of windows 7

  • @kevin989able According to Microsoft, you need either pro or deluxe to download Virtually Machine. I am in the same bind as you are=Z

  • @TRYER25 Well, to be exact, you can download windows virtual PC on any version of Win7. However, the XP Mode addon requires professional or higher.

Microsoft Virtual PC, however, as it it stands now, is almost more of an additional OS feature rather than a standalone folder, and unless you figure out how to work with it, it is a pain in the ass to use. XP Mode is simply a pre configured Virtual machine for.. well, whatever you need it for. :D

  • @kurisux thats what i hate see i wanna play this game called rumble fighter but window 7 starter doesnt work so xp mode will but i cant use it so there is NO WAY AT ALL to play the game

  • @kurisux Well the site said I needed pro to use Virtual Machine and Virtual Machine to use XP Mode. So $50 later, I can play a video game from the year 2000 that I couldn't play on Win 7. Ironic I had to upgrade more to play an older game=Z

  • @TRYER25 Sorry, was a little out of it when I posted. Ah well, at least you can play the games you want to. :D

    I have actually done VM's of Windows 98 and ME to play older games properly... quite a fun experience -.-;;;

Ah, at least Starcraft runs 99% perfectly in Win7.

  • @kurisux Man you must be playing some old games. Good idea though. Maybe a little too old for me. Too bad Win7 doesn't have all the features that XP had. That is Microsoft for you=Z

  • @TRYER25 Only a few old ones.. Either they don't install on 64bit systems, or they behave oddly..

My best thought, honestly, is to just run anything decade old or more in a Windows ME virtual machine... quite a few of the old games I really like don't run on NT based systems well at all... so you are forced to use 9x... heh.

  • yo guys u can still download windows xp

  • Thank you mate, you helped me a lot with this.

  • so can you just get it look like Windows Xp. Coz that's what matters.

  • now how do u do it the other way the only reason i got this was because my call of duty 4 stopped working when i got windows 7 someone said if you play the game through windows XP mode you can make it work

  • i dowlowed it and said downowwd the nw version

  • My windows 7 runs Windows 7

    It runs Mac OS x

    It runs linux

    it runs vista

    now it runs xp :)

  • @TheDaysOfLinkinPark mas é claro se o seu win 7 roda win 7 e pq o win 7 é o padrão sdo seu pc mas rodar Mac os x só se for o leopard ai eu acredito

  • @TheDaysOfLinkinPark link for mac osx

  • You Have Teh Steam APP!

  • If i install anything on this virtual machine, will it take place in my normal Windows 7?

  • Can u get ie8 on windows 7 pro xp mode

  • I have 7 pro I like the xp mode cause if I'm bored I go on it just to explore it

  • can you play games with this virtual machine?

  • Do you need to install antivirus software on the virtual PC?

  • @branwal100

    Yes.

  • I have a game that won't install on WIndows 7, but it did on XP. If I install this application will I be able to play the game through virtual XP as well as create a shortcut on my main desktop, accessing it from there?

  • @TheNEWfilmfanatic99 XP mode is exactly like XP. Except for the shutdown options. There is no way this wouldn't work unless the disc is sucking up.

  • Windows obviously put XP mode only for windows 7 since they know windows vista is shit tier, and XP is faster than vista. Other than using the excuse to install other programs that don't support windows 7.

Now thumbs up my little monsters.

  • just download vmware -.-

  • @ThaDreamZz Virtual Machine by Oracle is a perfect product, but they don't give away a free XP Mode... I won't be using Virtual Computer at all unless for Windows XP...

  • great video, but yet another underachieving sales pitch from microsoft

  • My PC has 2 GB or RAM but the upgrade advisor tells me I really have 1.8 GB. You need a total of 2 GB to run XP mode. Can my PC run XP mode? Reason I'm asking is b/c I heard that Vista downgrades your hardware and I'm running Vista Home Basic.

  • my laptop doesn't have internet right now and I need to run windows XP how do I download XP mode and put it on there.

  • @spazitude80 Download it on another computer and use a memory stick or external HDD.

  • Instead of getting programs to run in "XP Mode". just run Windows XP-lol Its STILL Supported 2 years after Earth Ends in 2012! lol Yes XP Still supported till 2014 !

  • @855h0le Not all computers (especially new laptops (see HP Pavilion dv series laptops post 2010)) still support Windows XP. HP has stopped supporting it with drivers, as have several other manufacturers.

  • @ShaunSforza So far I havent found any New Laptop that doesnt work with my Driver Pack. I have about 4gb of Windows XP Drivers. I know they dont "support" XP but XP Still runs on their hardware.

The sad thing for EITHER SIDE- The "New" Laptops have a Lifetime of ONLY 3 Years. The dam things wont even last! SO called "older" ones are still running after 3,5,7+ years with Hardware with reasonable Specs. Microsoft may have hung themselves and its loyal sheople.

  • @855h0le the laptop i am using right now is xp, its about 5 years old and still runs!

  • deverian de poner el xp actualizado ya con el internet explorer 8 y el windows media player 11

  • XP are the best!

  • @lawrence200910 seven é o melhor

  • @lawrence200910 XP IS the best... not ARE

  • @CU2UK Yes

  • windoes 7 ROCKS!!

  • with windows xp mode that can make that if you have olds programs that it was for oldest windows windows xp mode can make it work but i still have trouble with xp mode please someone help me

  • Do you need to have Windows 7 Professional to have XPM or can you get it in Home Premium as well?

  • @DanMan91693

  • @SuperTobirama não só pega no pro e ultimate

  • Old School =D, i remember we started to use Windows XP =D

  • im looking into a new toshiba laptop and just b/c of this i will get win 7 pr

    Problem

  • @FreeGamesEverywhere

I am SOOOO stealing that, my friend! :)

  • @TheUberDeity

Go ahead I got it from my web development teacher xD

  • @FreeGamesEverywhere

    Kudos to him. Great acronym.

  • sigh....i miss windows xp....

  • @ninetailsnaruto78 -i'm using it right now!

  • @ninetailsnaruto78 I like 7 more than xp. I'm not saying I didn't like XP, but I just recently got 7 and i already perfer it.

  • @mkid33 in my opinion, 7 is way too grey. XP is more colorful for me

  • @VauxhallVx You can change the color. Like right now, mine's 100% clear.

  • @mkid33 how? i wanna change color

  • @VauxhallVx Right-click on the wallpaper, click ersonalize, click window color. There's a theme for almost every color.

  • @mkid33 There's no personalize in mine.

  • @VauxhallVx Are you sure you're RIGHT-CLICKING? It's the veery bottom option.

  • @mkid33 Sure, im right clicking. And it is only to add these little "gadgets" in the screen. Nothing more.

  • @anantanni

I wonder if I'll be able to play the PC version of Final Fantasy VIII on it b/c it didn't work on Vista.

  • @anantanni

I'm talking hardcore games, like the PC version of Gears of War or something like that. And also, I read an article saying that it's not for gaming.

  • @anantanni

So, this XP mode can run games that only work on XP?

  • @Sup750 Windows XP mode can run any app or game that can only run on XP, as long as you give it enough RAM and HDD space on setup. In fact I'm in it right now.

  • @TheKyleowen Are you able to run it in a manner that it's like you actually were using XP? You know, something like dual booting, but with only Seven and XP mode?

  • @Neoomegasonic Windows XP mode is dual booting. Just Microsoft's *simplified* version of it, meaning it is easy to get started with out dealing with ISO files and such.

  • @TheKyleowen I thought it's some kind of VM.

  • @Neoomegasonic Yes it is exactly that, just Microsoft made it so that you don't have to deal with ISO files.

  • fack you

  • What do you use to screen record? The fps was great!

  • @sccerstr09 he used camtasia studio 6

  • Hi do you know whether there is performance gain with hardware virtualization vs without hardware virtualization? i just rread that new update removes the need for hardware virtualization. Is one more energy conserving vs another? Any input is greatly appreciated.

  • thats pretty smart of microsoft

  • it looks like you downloaded windows 7 off of uTorrent, cuz of the water mark on the bottom left, and the fact that you have uTorrent.

  • @honestbob456 Actually, Windows 7 Build 7100 is the RC (Release Candidate) version, which Microsoft allowed anyone who registered in advance to download and use for free. Since the final version of Windows 7 has already been released to the public, you can't get a copy of the release candidate now, but anyone who got it previously had a legally activated copy of Windows 7. The RC expired this past June, however, so everyone's in the same boat at this point.

I'd bet he pirated Camtasia, though.

  • @TheScotopian get a pirate copy of it and it will be final version :D

  • so wait windows 7 does not have windows internet explorer

  • @rjherenow2 Please look at the left bottom of the screen, There's an icon for Internet Explorer beside the Windows LoGo..

  • its cool

  • It does compatible on my Windows 7 Ultimate computer because I'm using Intel Pentium E5200 2.50Ghz processor?

  • that´s not mac os x wallpaper...

  • LOL red shield look like windows 7 XDD 2:37

  • CAN YOU RUN XP GAMES ON THE VIRTUAL XP?????? i reallt need an awnser!

  • @xxsickoxx I tried to run GTA San Andreas on Windows XP Mode, it didn't work :/

You can try by putting the CD in the CD Drive, and go to My Computer in wIndows Xp Mode, and then double click on teh game's exe. Install it, and try to see if it's running. If it does not work, tehn that means Virtual PC does NOT support it..

  • @xxsickoxx no but what u can do is:

right click the shortcut of the game you want to play > properties > compatibility mode > run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows xp (service pack 3)

  • hey, nice wallpaper, can u give me the link to download it??

  • @SATVU3 no need to download just search up on google images mac osx wallpaper

  • Is it possible for a program installed in your Windows 7 OS, is it possible to run it through the virtual machine?

  • hmm i was wondering if you get a virus in the virtual xp, would it affect windows 7?

  • That's weird. I also have Steam pinned on my taskbar.

  • i dont have virtual pc folder in my start menu :(

  • i have 7 and i want virtual pc

  • i wanted to learn more because i love both xp and 7 and i was afraid i would lose 7 so thanks :)

  • windows still suck

  • does virtual pc requre virtualization

  • @roxes787b Download XP mode update

  • @roxes787b

    obviously...

  • SWAT - S.W.A.T!!!

  • thanks but in my opinion lol you dont really need it.

  • thats hot man im definately downloading this

  • I know your password, it is pass

  • this is like wine on ubuntu im windows and ubuntu user nd theyre both great

  • what is the use of Windows XP mode other than running outdated software ?

  • @NotdStar thats what its used for, say a good game like starcraft(won't be there for long cause starcraft 2 is bout to come out YAY!) its really old, before vista was even thought of, might not work xp mode will make it work

  • @BrewtoxiaProDuctions don't you have compatibility mode for that? i played some old games and i didn't start XP Mode. i've just set the compatibility for Windows XP SP2/SP3

  • Can dis run Games ?

  • @kilerlol yes. apparently it can.

  • @kilerlol the point doing this is run games like gta iv which doesnt work with win7..

  • GTA 4????? It should work!! Why should it not??? GTA 4 is a relatively new game and it supported Vista so theoretically it should support 7 too. Try downloading the latest video card drivers and the game patches. I know for sure that this game was one hell of a bad PC port and this is why people had problems with it.

  • @desperategamer93 it works but you have to install and play it with the option in the exe: "compatible with SP3 XP"

  • but that is what is a bit surprising to me. it means that the game doesn't actually natively support vista/7. it was released way after vista was on the market.

  • @pablytuzz Dont now wat windows 7 you got but i can play GTA iv

  • @kilerlol i can play GTA IV without problems, that's not the point.. i said that you have to click on the option "work with XP" to install the game and then play it.

  • @kilerlol Well no everybody can

  • @iTalkSe7enXP Wel if you cant play it i tink it wil bie best to get the final build of windows 7 games like cod4 and gta wont work on som build under Final Or RTM

  • wallpaper?

  • I have a problem. I installed this and run it from the installer after that it did show up but i closed it accidentally and i can't find it on the Start menu

  • Today The Full Version Is Out So...

    The Build is Expired.

  • send. me. the. background. now. please!!! desperate. to. get. that. background.

  • could i do this with XP's paint and Movie Maker?

  • yea, check out the virtual pc help to find out how.

  • omg so weird, i was just talkin 2 someone on msn about XP mode when ur comment popped up on my inbox... scary...

  • XP Mode rocks very easy to use and no need for virtual box etc.

  • Yes, this Windows XP mode is Intergrated in Windows 7 Ultimate and Professional, and if you still can't find it, download it off the official microsoft website, they host a download for it.

  • Comment removed

  • i thought this was just integrated right into 7 ultimate?

  • hey dude.....nice tut.....but it seems that i dont have virtual windows xp.....i have windows 7 ultimate 32 bit but i still dont have it......i even searched for it........could someone please help me!!!

  • @7250706 download it at microsoft i do believe

  • It is not integrated in Windows 7. You have to download and install Windows Virtual PC first. After that, search for Windows XP Mode and download it from Microsoft website.

Processor: In order to run Windows XP Mode, your processor must support Intel Virtual Technology (Intel VT-x)! To find out, look up your processor on Intel website and it will tell you whether your processor supports Intel VT-x. Good luck!
