I would say Yes with a capital "Y". The Cadillac was designed to look (somewhat), feel, and sound like a Gibson Les Paul. I actually like my Caddy better than my Gibson LP! They're very well made and reasonably priced. But it's always best to try before you buy.

I like these, I am a metal fan that also plays the blues and classical rock, this guitar can do those and maintain that metal look, mainly because of the headstock, lol.

I can't really compare the width to a les paul, but it does feel pretty good in your hands.

I really like it. The only thing is that the pickups pick up the strings very well, almost to well. like if you have distortion and an unwanted string is ever so slightly vibrating that noise will be picked up

I couldn't decide which one to buy either.

I ended up choosing the Select because 1, It looked nicer, 2, It was ever so slightly cheaper, and 3, it seems to be more popular than the 1980.

But I havn't played the 1980 so I'm not sure how it sounds.
