  • TOO DEEP !!! How are you going to beat that !!!

  • 9 people couldn't handle the EPIC!

  • @dynamicdragon13

actually those 9 people have OCRHD...Obsessive Compulsive ROBOTECH Hating Disorder !!!

  • SOMEONE DO A MASQUERADE SKIT OF THIS RIGHT NOW!

  • ...

    That.

    Was.

    PERFECT!

  • I saw this video at Anime Expo... 2001? 2002?

Anyway, it was the only AMV in the contest to receive a standing ovation, and despite the seriousness of the song, the audience rolled with good-natured laughter through it all. I'll always remember this one fondly.

  • This isn't just a video, it's a thing of beauty, and a definition of art itself. Bravo.

  • Lisa Hayes is the furst officer in command, refined and experienced...Rick Hunter is a kid that likes kids, i.e. Minmei...But He grows up rapidly, becoming, commander of the entire fighter group. Now he understands strength and responsibility...

Now he likes responsible and mature women.

  • @jackhammer10101 : I'd say that it is a lot more complicated than that. In fact, Ichijiyo Hikaru ("Rick Hunter") probably would have ended up with Minmei were it not for her celebrity lifestyle leaving no time for him. It has nothing to do with a taste for mature women. In fact, he still very much loves Minmei. In the end, however, he realized he had a much deeper and meaningful connection with Hayase Misa ("Lisa Hayes").

  • Wow... this is so good, it literally gave me chills. You, my friend, have a real talent

  • Wow... this was so god, it literally gave me chills! You, my friend, have a real talent

  • @big4daily he's 19 she's 23 Nothing big...a 4 year gap...

  • @platano214 According to the AnimEigo liner notes on the Macross TV series, Ichijo Hikaru was born November 4, 1992 and Hayase Misa was born March 3, 1990. Not sure how accurate these dates are, but that would make an age difference of a mere 2.6 years.

  • @gospelx Macross and Death note arent even comparable.

  • Is there any better combination than Robotech and Le Mis, if so I've yet to see it.

  • Thank you for sharing your opinion. I didn't make the video.

  • @fablefreak323 Clearly you haven't seen Macross. I understand your attraction to Javert as a character, truely. If you had seen Macross and could draw the story parallels to Les Miserables you would know why that particular character was chosen to represent him.

  • actualy given the obsession, and blind adherance to ones own belief system id say Khyron makes a better Javert than Exidore but then Khyron/Azonia are a perfect M.& Mme Thenardier so consessions must be made

  • fantastic video damn shame only about 1 in every 800 people will appreciate it fully

  • Wow, you put things together beautifully. ^_^ A++

  • I dissagree, because Death Note is new Anime and cannot be compared to the older Anime that made it possable for the newer Anime of today, plus Macross is classic Mech Anime like Gundam. You need to expand in Anime before you can say "This Anime Sucks".

  • cor that was 6 months ago and perhaps I WAS more ignorant of anime. i'm not now. long time ago, thank you very much. comment deleted.

  • I am glad you have grown in Anime and don't stop because there is a lot more out there and they can be very good.

    Xellos26

  • I disagree, Personally I don't think it matters what the era, any anime can be compared to any other anime. but anyone who just looks at the animation quality as a frame of reference is a complete idiot. If one is going to compare then One needs to compare qualities of originality, story writing, and the heart and soul of the show. Macross is a space opera Epic, However Death note is nothing more then a cliche built for the sole purpose of grabbing the attention of trendy little teenagers.

  • I see your point and I agree. There are a lot of anime I do not watch because of Lack of Originality and Story. So I see where you are coming from.

    Xellos26

  • While I agree you need to look at all elements of an anime as a whole (and not just the "quality" of the animation), I believe your point is somehow lost by your elitist dismissal of Death Note as being soul-less trash. One could just as easily look at Macross (as a whole) and dismiss it as an unrealistic melodrama. It almost implies that the island of Fiji could ward off a nuclear attack from Russia by playing a few Brittany Spears videos. ...Now, don't get me wrong, I love Macross.

  • When did the argument ever steer towards "Realism". Macross is a drama, a space Drama it doesn't really pretend to be anything else. It is a space opera Epic. But the difference between Deathnote and Macross is that Macross uses Emotion to pull in it's audience while Deathnote uses the hottopic fashion market.

  • I didn't steer it towards "Realism". I said your argument was smeared by an elitist viewpoint. It was standing nicely on its own till you called out Death Note fans as being beneath you.

  • What an amazing video. WELL DONE SIR. Very well done sir!

  • Very well done!

I was very surprised by how well this all fits together.

  • Awesome, and it perfectly fits.

    Macross IS Les Miserables!

  • I was very surpriesed! Thank you! You did one hella good job with this amv! I loved it.

  • oh, everything matches so perfectly! *_____*

GOOOD JOB did this guy, and thanx for reposting it. *-*

  • This is awesome! I love this song too! Michael Ball rules as Marius! And Colm Wilkinson is one of the best Valjeans I have ever heard!

  • Robotech is what got me into anime and I think it is timeless. Plus this is the first AMV I saw, long before youtube. 5/5

  • you have a fair point there. :( soz

  • HOLY!!! BEAUTIFUL!!! The songs is so prefectly timed ^_^ 6/5 stars =D

  • Dude, I don't even like Les Mis and I think this is F'in AWESOME.

  • wow brilliant!

I've done this with another anime...Slayers

haha, i can learn from this:)

  • This has got to be one of the best edited applications of music to pre-existing film. Whoever did this deserves a good industry job. Five stars!

  • As soon as Valjean's voice came out of Gloval I had a huge grin on my face!

  • Hilariously terrible. 5 stars.

  • Not bad, Animie isn't my cup of teas but the timing was good.

  • Pure genius!

  • Amazing

  • This is an awesome video.

  • truly truly amazing, this person is amazing

  • genius!

  • I friend of mine, who is big into Anime, gave me a quicktime movie of this 4 or 5 years ago an a CD-R. Tho, I was never into Robotech or Les Mis.. I always enjoyed this video and glad to see it live on.. on You Tube.

  • I have to congratulate you, beautifull, excelent, like a dark night overtrone by the light of the dawn! remarcable... no more words, but just joy... 5/5 and i hope you can make more of this kind of work.

  • that was pretty awesome and i dont really like anime

  • great job !!

  • this was so cool. there mouths move with the words perfectly

  • Damn. this is awesome! What a great combo. Haven't seen Robotech in a few years but I can totally see the song and story line of the musical fitting the anime. Great!

  • You are a genius this is quite possible the best AMV I have ever seen. Robotech and Le Mis are both great stories and you have honored them both. Thank you I truly enjoyed this video.

  • On behalf of Rick Ramey and myself I would like to thank you all for your comments and ratings.

I just recently went looking on youtube to see if people had posted any of the AMVs we created, and we are thrilled to see that people thought highly enough of them to post them. Seeing that this video has 20,000 views is both amazing and humbling.

Thanks for viewing this video and continuing to make this video a success more than 5 years since its creation.

    -Anthony Bennett

  • I never would have thought to do that. Excellent job.

  • Damn! The characters come extremely close to those in Les Miz!

  • Brings a tear to me eye.

  • AWESOME X3 I remember seeing this at AX 2001. They were right - It qualifies for both Drama and Comedy.

  • That was ace mate, very impressive the way you linked the scenes to the song.

  • This is the best AMV ever!!!

  • The best AMV ever!!

  • This is a really good video. Whoever did this outdid themself. What's happening and what's being sung goes hand in hand. I especailly love the part when they all sing at the same time!

  • That really is awsome!

  • AHAHAHAHA. that was the best fucking thing EVER.

  • Muwahahahahaha! I have the whole series of Robotech and for some reason this fits season one, I remember the scenes were all these came from. Just to let you know the reason focusing on the older woman and the young man pilot is cause they are in love. ;3

  • To be fair, Lisa isn't that much older than Rick.

  • Rick : 19

    Lisa : 26

    hehe

  • According to the Robotech official site, Lisa is only five years older than Rick. According to the Macross continuity, which is the main one I pay attention to, they're only two years apart. Why Harmony Gold spread their ages apart that much more...I'll never know.

  • @gospelx in macross they were only 3 years apart

  • @entraotemato lisa sounded a lot older than rick and looks older too with the "sourpuss" voice lol

  • i want this video pleaseeeeee

  • Bisarrísimo. Excelente montaje!!. Amo este anime.

  • that was the coolest thing i've ever seen.. ever xx

  • I wonder which Les Mis performance he got this from. It fit in well with Robotech.

  • the one they show on PBS all the time.

  • wow robotech ftw

  • Oh! My! Fucking! Baby! God! This is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Ever. Les Mis and Robotech. Bwahahahahahahahaha. Very well done.

  • What gave you the idea to do this?

  • It's not mine. It came from an old AMV website, and I thought others would enjoy seeing it too.

  • Either way this is enjoyable. I have saved it to my favorites.

  • Simply brilliant! I'm speechless ... Wow!

  • Bravo!

  • Best. Anime. Video. Ever.

  • i liked it and for the person who said anime= shit you havn't seen all anime have you

  • this is so awesome!

  • I don't know the anime thing but it was wonderfully done =) I am very impressed.
