Yes... the problem is tradition, or popular culture, religion was in some parts influenced by this. You don`t need to be muslim to beat wives... i mean the feminist movement appeared in the USA, and i think they didn't made that feminist revolution because they liked how there lives were then. Now on the other hand women in the west are used and not respected.
