  • I went to school with Some of Take 6... I heard them just before the became famous... I didn't know or I have forgotten that Chris and Brian were cousins. I was in Art Class With Chris Willis... It's been a long time... Brian played the piano form me when I was doing an accapella or accapello(sp) When he first got to Oakwood. He was so sweet to do that. That was 87 Wow... Now here it is 2011... I wish I could see me on video with Brian playing the Piano for me in those not so famous days.

  • Brian McKnight looks like Lebron James in this video. Lmao!!!!

  • @SenseiLoco32 no lebron looks like brian , brian is older

  • are those the cats from take 6?

  • @6stringmonster No !! Brian McKnight is Claude's younger brother (Claude is the founder of Take 6). And there is Chris Wilis (David Guetta's singer) who is McKnight's cousin ! =) I don't know the other singers but I don't think they're related to Take 6 or even Alliance.

  • brian ur the best vocalist the world has ever seen but ur hair syle was off key lol love brians voice

  • Chris Willis kills..the McKnights and the Willis man..to be a part of that talented family..

  • Great performance . Talented men

  • Is that Marcus Davis ?? 1:57-2:00

  • He was working on his first album when he was singing this..it dropped about a year later...he is like 17 on here singing..

  • OMGness....the half Gumby, lol. Ha, ha, ha. LMAO. That's alrgiht, though. All my friends had them too, lol.

  • com on man.. #3, oj simpson? Rollin my ass off! HA ha ha ha haha. And as for the dome, watch some old school flicks, even the hardest of them all sported these, including me. Ever watch Colours?

  • Pause at :16 tell me thats not Lebron lol

  • @MikaeIe90 no. Actually this is brian mcknight singing After I die in the 80s. He looks like Lebron. But i'm pretty sure its not him

  • @JayT98: I guess my sarcasm was a bit to tough to detect lol

  • what a voice... how old was he back then?

  • he sounded good then...and sounded even better after that from Anytime to Ten.

  • He's so giant compared to the other singers on stage. In this clip, Brian kinda looks like Lebron James. Brian killed this!!!!!

  • what a nice haircut LOL

  • the other one:

one the first looking like Martin Luther and nummber 3 like Oj Simpson

  • He was so skinny and wht a weird haircut.. ha3. I'm still his numb fan tho. ha3.. regardless the style, His music is the most important and the greatest blessing from the Holy Father. Go Bryan!

  • You may not know this, but back in the mid to late 80's and in the 90's, weird haircuts like this were the haircuts to have. Even though it's embarrassing to say so nowadays, I had one of these weird type of haircuts, too. Still, this was the fashion at the time:)

  • habaconia...while I agree that those guys you listed are amazing and made better music than mcknight, I think mcknight has more vocal ability than all of them.

  • Wow.. very nice!! :o)

I am a Brian Mcknight fan, and this video clip is very inspiring. Looking back then to now, it just shows when you utilize the gifts that God blesses you with how far it can truly take you.

  • Just to let you all know, the Guy who does the ad-libs at the end is Chris Willis, so it's not just about Brian.

  • Yes he is Brian McKnight Cousin :-) What a blessed family !

  • It is good to see that he also made mistakes, it gives us strenth to keep praticing, because if he can do it, I think everyone that have effort to do, will reach.

  • what do you mean by mistakes ??

  • Don't you see any mistakes?

Well, if you can't found anything, we don't need to keep talking about that.

Hey Jibcraip, Brian is my favorite singer over the world, he can sing every kind of music, but, it does not makes he perfect, even when we see him singing in his first carrer's step.

  • ok...I thought you were talking about singing this song (choice/style). Now that's right there are some issues in his singing but when you see him now wow ! He is one the best singer =D

  • I think you found the right answer, he is singing greatly but he is close to sing some notes but he is not there. Today he can sing this song even better.

I think he can do this things, because he have the whole harmoni in his mind, that way he can sing everything.

I am a drummer, but i like to sing also, and I ever listen to brian's songs.

    See my videos.

  • brian mcknight is my inspiration if it was'nt for him i would'nt be where i am today in the the music business(his voice has no limit to its vocal range)

  • I like this rendition,Of( I'll keep on living after I die)This song takes me back when I was a young boy hearing The Dixie- Hummingbirds singing this song.. I miss that old time singing..thats when singing was heart felt

  • Another example of what started in church and went elsewhere! I used to love this song! Go Chris Willis!!!

  • LMAO, Brian's got a gumby style. He definitely gets better looking with age.

  • lol, love the hair

  • FABULOUS

  • funky hair.. when is this from?

  • Gumby Land!!!!

  • This song was a fave back in the day at Oakwood and other SDA environments. This is also that classic old time black quintet gospel sound.

  • Personally if your thinking about the younger days, Brian's Brother Claude had amazing range himself, with his falsetto tone, I think Claude might of been a little better singer in their younger days but now Brian is better than Claude.

  • Claude in his prime was pretty sick, but these days he's def not as strong as he used to be.

3:13 he sings very a claude-like lick, lol.

thanks for posting this is great! brian is amazing, one of the best singers today.

  • He had a perfectly positioned voice back in the late 80's and a beautiful sound. Been on a concert recently - Claude doesn't sing so nice anymore 'cos he pushed his resonating point from the palatal to the mouth (prob. due to singing a lot of falsetto). Even the best singers need some correction every now and then.

  • lol...I heard it at 3:13 as well as some other spots...

    pretty cool...

  • claude can still sing. he has a brady bunch song with brian and brians 2 sons.. its on youtube also

  • Claude and Take 6 still sing together..they have new album.."the Standard"

  • They sound like Take 6 because 2 or 3 of those guys make up that group....this pre Take 6!

  • um.. none of them are in Take 6.. Brian Mcknight is Claude McKnight's brother.. and Chris Willis is a cousin.. the authentic sound comes from a deeply rich family history and the training @ Oakwood College

  • your absolutely right, the McKnights have a rich history of singing in their family, Brian was supposed to do gospel but found better success in the secular but you can tell which brother done better by sticking to gospel, Claude and his group won 10 grammys can Brian say the same about his career? But still a very talented family

  • ::mouth agape:: the singers sound like take-6. increadible!

  • I wouldn't say lots of females. Only ones that comes to my mind are Whitney, And carey, maybe Pattie Labelle or Regina belle type singer. But also notice that I say vocal "Skills". Vocally Brian is damn amazing. Christina agulara or however you spell it sang a song with him and it was obvious who had the better talent.

  • Totally agree with you about the fact he's one of the best(male and female),but the younger brian is not better,it's just that with the age your voice begins to be tired, especially when you're a singer...

  • Brian Mcknight is the greatest vocalist in R&B period. Probably the greatest ever. However I think the younger Brian is better than todays. This guy i'm looking at now is just unreal. His vocal skills has no limits to what it can do. If I believed in perfection from an imperfect person then this is it. Phenom period.

  • Amen

  • stevie wonder... ottis redding... phillip bailey... james brown... oh nevermind

  • absolutely...we're on the same page. and nobody beats stevie...c'mon. Brian looks up to him for a reason.

  • (cough) ...(reverent whisper)...

    Luther Vandross

Brian himself will say that he walks in the great man's footsteps so don't let's over do the superlatives...and I love Brian McKnight too!

  • um... I dont know where you got Luther from, this is not a Luther Vandross clip, all of us were talking about the McKnight family, there was no comment to refer that McKnight was better than Vandross but he ranks up there with the greats though.

  • Who is the other guy singing? Great voice. Is he doing something today musically?

  • He is Chris Wilis : google him to see his music projects :-)

  • That was the HOT hairstyle back then!! I rocked it too I admit..LMAO!!

  • lmao! so awesome

  • wow chris willis is up there too huh..interesting

  • Brian rocks the Gumby hair cut...I like it!!!

  • yeah this is when he was at oakwood

  • this dude is a musical genius

  • he looks like lebron james in this video haha

great vocals hes in a class of his own

  • My boo has come a long way.

  • yeah nice haircut lol

but listen to his voice plutôt

  • was this at oakwood?

  • wow!!Cool ancient footage I never thought I´d see!!

  • niceee haircut (???)
