Magazine with 50 rounds, 5.7 caliber, same barrel lenght as the m4, compact rifle with high rate of fire, fully ambidextrous.

FYI, that's a MK16, not a MK17. MK16 shoots the 5.56 round, and the MK17 fires the .308 round. And since that looks like an AR15 magazine, I have to assume that it's firing the 5.56 cartridge...

The H&K 416 will most likely replace the aging m4.

Today's modern battlefields require different armaments, tactics and even different soldiers and training. The M4, even with the wide range of acessories, aftermarket parts and upgrades still fails to have its core design useful to those requirements.

But this rifle as been used for 60 years. America's armed forces are used to deal with this rifle.

Even with it, the rifle looks beautiful, remains pratical (the EGLM comes with a undergrip to compensate for the usage of the lower rail) and capable of using all 40mm grenades that the long version M203 is capable of carrying.

Like i said below, this rifle is the mk16, using the same caliber as the m4. The recoil is due to two factors: he's grabbing the weapon by the magwell; Second the shorter barrel offers a bigger recoil.

But had one in my hands and the size of this riffle with the shorter barrels is the same size of an mp5 but with much MUCH bigger modularity.

Thats an Mk16. The Mk17 doesn't have a 30 round magazine. Only 10 and 20 round mags. And yes i counted the amount of shots. But the magazine's shape and size gives it away.

It's been said before. The MK16 Mod 0 currently uses M4 magazines, using the shorter 5.56mm cartriges.

Please note that the recoil, comparing to the Mk17, is lower.

The Mk17 uses SR-15 Magazines, capable of sporting the longer, heavier cartrige of 7.62mm. Due to size and weight of this ammo, the magazine only carries 20 rounds.

Again, note the recoil. Is very difficult to keep an effective sighting on the target. But also note that it's capable of penetrating modern vests in just one shot.

What do you consider "fast mission"? There are no such mission. As for the recoil? Hes using the shorter barrel so the recoil will hit harder (the FN SCAR can use both long and short barrels without any fuss, unlike the M4). If he used the longer barrels, then the recoil would be the same as an M4. Like i said so many times, the caliber of the ammunition discharged is the same as an M4. The recoil's won't differ if the size of the rifle is the same.

While it is a definite improvement from an M4. The US Army, for what ever reason, said that they didn't like it. Unfortunately, it will most likely not see service in the US military. I'm upset about that. I'm enlisting into the Army in 3 years and i hope the army will reconsider using the FN SCAR's.

This is a rifle that needs to be changed according to the mission Specs. Either the Ligh or heavy version, is its longer or shorter barrel or what should it carry (AN-PEQ, Optics). The army wants something that doesn't need to be changed and that is a good compromise between everything, The Scar excels at everything but needs to be changed.

Well you see your statement is a little off. Not all SOCOM operators use the SCAR. It all depends on mission and the operators choice, and of course rank. New man usually gets the SAW. SCAR is a great gun! but after about 30,000 rounds and 5missions I broke the bolt. so FN needs to work on the QA of their materials. Well hope it was helpful
