ONE POINT that none of you are considering:At the time Annette Olzon was was selected, NO LONG TERM COMMITENT was offered.It was FAR from certainty that NW would remain a band.Others were asked to join them,Annette was the only one willing to take a chance on such a LIMITED basis.Tuomas is moody and withdrawn.Even on good days he is melancholic.It comes through in their songs which makes them meaningful.It also makes for bad relations.The Annette cd OUTSOLD ALL other NW put together.YOU HAVE IT.
I have heard Annette Olzon with Alyson Avenue.She has an amazing voice. Siren,Sahara, and 7 Days to the Wolves are ALL ANNETTE. In some ways, there are too many hard heads in that band, thats why they broke up completely in 02. I know them, I listen to them (& Tarja), I enjoy them.However THERE ARE BETTER BANDS.Edenbridge is a whole level above Nightwish.There are others, I have several playlists full of them.STOP OBSESSING OVER TARJA.I support her,BUT ANNETTE OLZON AS WELL.Most people do.

But he doesn't write the music down, he has somebody who writes it down for him and even composes some - read his blogs...
Guys, this band was founded by accident in 96.Tuomas was at school studying to be a music conductor and Tarja was at the same school studying opera.Emmpu & sammi were also taking classes there while they were in the army.As a class project, they did a few songs and called the cd "Angels Fall First". Spinfarm records got it and convinced them to give it a shot.These people are VERY different from one another.Imaginarium is Tuomas being a "conductor". Tarja had "opera" tour lined up in 07. cont...

Man, Anette is awful when she tries to step in to Tarjas shoes. She's fine when she does her own. I have nothing against the woman, but she should NOT try and sing songs that were written for a huge voice

ONE POINT that none of you are considering:At the time Annette Olzon was was selected, NO LONG TERM COMMITENT was offered.It was FAR from certainty that NW would remain a band.Others were asked to join them,Annette was the only one willing to take a chance on such a LIMITED basis.Tuomas is moody and withdrawn.Even on good days he is melancholic.It comes through in their songs which makes them meaningful.It also makes for bad relations.The Annette cd OUTSOLD ALL other NW put together.YOU HAVE IT.

I have heard Annette Olzon with Alyson Avenue.She has an amazing voice. Siren,Sahara, and 7 Days to the Wolves are ALL ANNETTE. In some ways, there are too many hard heads in that band, thats why they broke up completely in 02. I know them, I listen to them (& Tarja), I enjoy them.However THERE ARE BETTER BANDS.Edenbridge is a whole level above Nightwish.There are others, I have several playlists full of them.STOP OBSESSING OVER TARJA.I support her,BUT ANNETTE OLZON AS WELL.Most people do.

In the meantime, Tarja has realized that as an opera singer she is noboby.As a rock diva, she is a gifted queen.This has led to some good stuff from her: Die Alive, Falling Awake, and Good Die Young (with the Scorpions). The Imaginarium thing is either gonna turn Tuomas into a symphony conductor, OR actually make this a permanent band.I was with Marco last Sept and he sounded estranged about NW.He did stuff with DELAIN and is touring with TAROT. Emmpu is working with several others.

I appreciate your retrospective, but I know all that story... The only thing wrong about it is qhen you say Tarja need the band to be somebody. Tarja announced to them she would leave the band soon for a solo carreer - everybody knows that - and she is doing very well, as expected, due to her voice quality. As for Tuomas, he has the ideas. But he doesn't write the music down, he has somebody who writes it down for him and even composes some - read his blogs...

Guys, this band was founded by accident in 96.Tuomas was at school studying to be a music conductor and Tarja was at the same school studying opera.Emmpu & sammi were also taking classes there while they were in the army.As a class project, they did a few songs and called the cd "Angels Fall First". Spinfarm records got it and convinced them to give it a shot.These people are VERY different from one another.Imaginarium is Tuomas being a "conductor". Tarja had "opera" tour lined up in 07. cont...

@kevingthompson13 She made no secret about her opera desires, and Tuomas made no secret about music conducting.Nightwish was a way to pay bills.They broke up completely in 02 and a great fan outpouring got them together, but not Sammi, he was through with their fussing.So, another guy had showed up at the music college to take classes....Marco Hietala.He had a small band with his brother: Tarot.He got along well with them and was hired.Currently, Emmpu and Marco are playing for other bands.

@MasterChico13 Anette is not a soprano. Hahahaha.....I am sorry she is just not. People just assume so because she replaced Tarja who was one. If she was a soprano she would be performing the old Nightwish songs with a lot more power and hitting higher notes. It's not the case. Not to say Anette can't sing well...........soprano is not her vocal range.
