neup, you're seeing the way that the radiation has travelled, because of the ionizing effect it has on the very little 'pieces' of the condense of the alcohol which is heated (at 30 °C) This alcohol condenses on the black plate you see (which is cooled)
gas or liquid? it leaves its trails in the condense, so gas dude (and ofcourse there are high speed sub atomic particles coming out of outer space, but here, on earth, there are also a lot of radioactive minerals/rocks and you're always exposed on a certain level of radiation, BUT the level isn't high enough to be (really) harmful)
I saw this experiment in an exhibition in the center of radio-active organisation, which is responsible for the storage of the radioactive material and a lot more
