@guitar3421 my friend, for 2.000 years, the land that now is called Turkey was once inhabited by Greeks and was Greek. Bouzouki was developed there but with an unfortunate event in 1922 (there are no Greeks there now...) Bouzouki traveled to the Greek mainland, along with the culture of the Ionian Greeks

@RideMyBMW Look my friend, is wrong to say that Hellenic civilization was based on slavery, let's clear something: the first slaves were "appeared" in the first civil war, which lasted 100 years, after this war the majority of the city/states(as Athens-Sparta etc) "woke up" and start giving education and salary to them, the only city/state which refused were Spartans, thing which was very logic for Spartans but crazy about the other cities, this lasted about 300 years.

Not to say slavery is good in any away,it was just how things were. @guitar3421 The Asia minor was a Greek region called Ionia by the ancient years.Bouzouki was developed by Greeks in the city of Smyrne that region in the start of 20th century.In 1922 the Turkish military forces under the commands of Kemal Ataturk burned the Greek houses of Smyrne down and they extinguished all of the Greek element in Asia minor and Pontus.so along with the Greek refugees came bouzouki and a kind of music and songs called rebetiko.

@MusicHistory100 We all know what Islam is about. Our king Jan Sobieski III kicked the asses of those invaders at Vienna in 1683 so that they abandoned any plans of conquering Europe forever. It's a pity the Polish army had no enough force to get them out of Europe completely. Anyway, the Greece is great and awesome. Its a true pride of our shared European civilization and really loved in Europe (anyway I mean Poland). Make no mistake, Turkey will never earn that feeling.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'd imagine that has something to do with the planet in question. Mars was the God of War, and the planet was named after him due to its blood red colour. Personally I think it's quite appropriate, if a bit of a steal from Gustav Holst (The Planets). Stravinsky did say though 'a great composer does not imitate, he steals.'
