What a great ending to the series. If we look back, Irina had always hidden something. In "Maternal Instincts," Sydney asked if Irina's killing Vaughn and other betrayals were what she meant by "the truth takes time." Irina was after Rambaldi. It does make me wonder if Irina had truly been held hostage by her sister in season 4. My main shock was that Sydney and Jack ever trusted Irina again in season 5.
This fight is totaly out of charicter for Irina! The Irina that we loved through the whole show up to this moment is not the Irina that I see here. She would never try to kill Sydney!

JJ Abrams made a rush job of the finale and totally ruined what would have been a great ending for Irina's character. She should have died a blackened hero IMO. I feel like that's what they were leading to and then in the very last episodes bam. Game change :(
This final fight between mother and daughter should have been more brutal and of epic proportions, not this shitty slap around, they just pushed each other around a little a bit - I mean they're both highly trained spies and Irina is (supposedly) a lethal assassin. However I loved that the relationship between Irina and Syd was so fucked up - Irina loved Sydney so much; but her love her power was just as great.

@rraacchheelleelliizz Hi. Michael Giacchino released two CDs of Alias scores but only for seasons 1 & 2. So unfortunately the song playing in the background is not something you can buy. It is very good though, isn't it? I've always loved the Alias soundtrack! MG is good at capturing the right "mood"!

For a smart woman, that was a pretty dumb move; the orb could have been fine where it was, but she was DEFINITELY going to fall if somebody didn't help her.

I wish they would make an Alias remake! And I wish Sydney(Jen) will still be the leading star not Rachel Gibson. I really miss this show! I like Rachel but i love Sydney more. And I wish Nadia will still be alive it will come out like she faked her death and all the (Nadia) Ghost in the series will come out like it's just Sloane's hallucinations. And if Michael Vartan doesn't wat 2 be in the show I know it would be suck but they could replace him with Ben Afleck.
@jkdreamer01 I kind of liked this better though. Most shows will make all the bad characters progress through the series into good people by the end: Alias goes a cut above by making the baddies become good through the series and then flipping it and making them bad again. It's just so much better a twist :)
Irina does love Sydney and I believe Sydney loves her mum too, and in Irina's speech it sounded as if no matter what, if you believe in Rambaldi you will live forever and we see that Sloane does, so maybe, hopefully Irina does too. Irina may be "messed up" in your eyes but if you think about it, this all started when she was asked to serve her country! So maybe Sydney and Irina are both as messed up as each other. Also they are both sexy!!!
The Sydney Allison/Francie fight was way better. The Lauren/Sydney fight was good until the end of it.
I expected the Lauren/Sydney fight to be as raw as the one with Allison. Sydney good vs Lauren, evil, they were fighting over Vaughn and the sense of betrayal. It should have been as intense as the Allison fight.
Irina vs Sydney should have been too. THe multiple betrayals from childhood through her adult life. It was rushed and Jen was just coming off having a baby. It's lacking!

It's one big CRAP, not ending. Irina is (not was) great character with complicated personality and history. They should make ending in which one she would be a black and fallen hero.. but hero. She's amazing, and she deserve it.
@Bananek333 Well Jack was already the fallen hero so Irina couldn't be that as well. I think it goes to show how complicated Irina really is in that she'd attempt to kill a daughter she's spent her life trying to protect.
WHAT? I missed season 5... I can't believe they turned Irina into such a psycho! I always thought that one of the few endearing qualities about her was even thought she was a horrible person, she wouldnt want to kill her daughters!
This is really sad because despite what Irina does, she is in some ways a "good" mother and loves Sydney. Its just that she loves power more which kind of makes her a bad mother but wtv its sweet of her to actually care than not at all.
Did anyone notice how Irina's death is really similar to the end of "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade?" Both Irina and Elsa desperately reach for a priceless object, while someone begs with them to let it go. For Irina, the glass slowly starts to break, foreshadowing her death, and for Elsa, the glove on her hand slowly slips off before she falls. The only difference was Irina actually grasped the Horizon right before she died, whereas Elsa couldn't reach the grail before it was too late.
strangely i also noticed that the bit where Sloane is in the tomb threatening Sydney is identical to The Last Crusade when the bad guy holds up Jones and his dad trying to get Indy to help them and when he refuses shoots his dad and in Alias the bad guy Sloane shoots Sydney's dad
Look I don't know what just hapind but one thing is forsore is i hate and allwas Irina because she was no good to Sydney(Jennifer) and I love Sydney(Jennifer) I can't even look at Irina any more.
That's a fair opinion, but I think if you watch her episodes again you'll see that Irina always had an agenda, and her endgame was Rambaldi's immortality. I imagine the thought of losing her agenda, for her love for Sydney, frightened Irina into such irrational actions that the true evil of Rambaldi was able to manefest through her, trying to kill Sydney for it.
Incredible finale. I can't believe some people didn't like it (although I'm not telling them they're wrong for not loving it). Wow, they sure finished Irina's character in the best possible way. Fantastic.

Irina has always been a manipulator. She will try to kill Sydney if it means getting what she wants; Sydney herself was born out of a mission!
It's basically: Sydney wants a mother, and Irina uses Sydney's feelings for her own benefit, just like she used Jack.
