I love my Optimus titanium kettle, it's only downside is it is a lot smaller, hold just under 3 cups of water. Yours seems to be better if you need to boil more than 2 cups. Mine will boil in about 4 minutes, curious how long 2 cups would take on yours.
Great review! There cool kettles! Excellent boil times. Not as lite as my MSR titan titanium 4.2.oz but still worthy of the $22 :o) I've also used this on the coals of a fire many times. That works best rather than hanging it above flame. Then there's no concern about the silcone handle :o) The alcohol we use in our stoves cleans them up beautifully! Just like new ;o)
I usually just use a wood fire for cooking. I would like to know how this kettle would hold up to extensive wood fire use. If you use it that way for a while please update the vid and let us know how it performed. Thanks.
@TheBeeperman I think the kettle itself would last for years and years even on a camp fire. However I have heard of the handle coating melting from fire. If you keep the kettle high enough as to not be engulfed in the flame it doesn't melt. I will probably use it on the fire occasionally and I'll try to give an endurance update.
@SnowLobo95 Thanks for the info. I'm thinking of buying a set of cooking gear made of this stuff. Its spendy so its good to get some advise before i lay out the bucks.
@74Hobbes Hey Hobbes! I have used it once with my little canister stove and a couple of times over a campfire. I built a stand with branches to hang it over the flame. It worked great with both methods.
@SnowLobo95 Thanks! I'm trying to expand my camping/hiking kit little by little...things like really help! It's definitely going on my "list" of things to get!
@Cr0cket20 Hey my friend! Thanks for commenting on my vids. It seems like a system is never complete. It seems it must constantly be changed and refined....at least to some degree. I think that makes it fun though.
