I got a shiny Eevee randomly while walking through the trophy garden in Diamond, without the pokeradar. It was espescially awesome because while was looking through how some pokemons' shiny forms looked about a week before, I was thinking "Shiny Eevee looks really cool" and then I actually found one! It became one of my favorite pokemon in my 4th gen games and I named him Silver. I never evolved him though because I think that Eevee looks better shiny than any of its evolutions.

i was showing my friend on how to chain pokemon for shinies, so i tried it in the trophy garden. my first pokemon was eevee. i killed it and told him i had 39 more to go before i even came close to finding a shiny. then, on the a down patch of grass, i saw a sparkly patch, ran into it, and it was a shiny eevee. at a chain of 1! :D my friend hates me now (literally), but i love my shiny (now) umbreon. ^_^

i have a smeargle with the following move set

Mean look (so the bastard wont run away)

Spore (100% accuracy sleep inducing move)

False Swipe (doesnt KO pokemon)

Fly (saves me a spot in the party, also a last ditch move in the event it actually has to fight something)

@Catherine9041 Well, every pokemon has an "encounter rate", which makes certain pokemon more rare than others. Eevee has a really low rate of only 5%, which means you have 95% chance of seeing a different pokemon.

Choosing the right patch only increases the chances of finding that pokemon again, but it will never be 100% guaranteed that it's the pokemon you're chaining.

Therefore, even the best patches can break chains with rare pokemon.

@giratina50001 Yes, but I do not care about hacked shinies, they aren't worth anything. I hunt shinies because they're so rare, not because I just want a different looking Pokemon. All of my shinies are legit, why would I hack pokeradar shinies, and hunt legit RANDOM shinies (1/8192 chance)?

I always proof my 1/8192 to be legit, there's just no way of proving the radar shinies to be legit, but they really are.

Lol, you know how the poke radar works, but you think it's suspicious I was recording the encounter? That can't be right.

Using the poke radar you can chain pokemon. The bigger the chain, the bigger the chance of seeing a shiny patch. The shiny patch indicates a shiny pokemon is hiding in it. So, when I see a shiny patch, I start recording. As soon as you enter the patch, you'll find the shiny form of the pokemon you're chaining.

So it's pretty easy to record the whole encounter.
