  • @nickwallacesmith Thank you very much for sharing this little and precious interview! This is a rare occasion to listen leonard's voice!much obliged, from florence!:)

  • hi fiorinodoro - very happy to be able to share it around - it was nice after finding and uploading the radio broadcast by virginia woolf. makes me wonder what else is out there to be found. by the way, florence is one of my favourite cities of all time - i've visited a lot and never get tired of going back to it. cheers!

  • This is great - which programme has it come from?

  • hi Barnabybright - it comes from a three part BBC 4 documentary series called 'Great Thinkers In Their Own Words', including episodes 'Human, All Too Human', 'The Grand Experiment' and 'The Culture Wars'. glad you liked it!

  • Dio mio! leonard Woolf !!!

  • A friend of mine actually lived in the Woolfs' house in Sussex for the last 8 (I think) years and has only just moved away from it - Monk's House. It's owned by the National Trust and she was the caretaker - house was only opened a few days a week during the season. The downstairs (the part that's open) is crammed full of memorabilia, the most beautiful garden which also has the summer house she used to write in, and many, many photographs of their literary set. Just reminded me to see this!

  • hi Pearlaceous - glad it had some resonances for you - i know well of monk's house as i've read a lot about virginai woolf and the bloomsbury group in general. when i lived in the UK i never visited it - and now regret it - next time i'm there then! cheers
