Zr1 are supercharged vetts. Engine to engine, the viper eats the vet. Supercharge the viper and then race a Zr1. I am a chevy guy but Chevy cant compete with that srt 10. Bar none

A professional racer would likely improve on that time quite a bit, and now that the 2010 + ZR1 has Performance Traction Management, it would be no contest between the ZR1 and ACR.

Viper loses, because its an uncomfortable hot( temp) car inside...its just a hair faster in 0-60 and then the vette starts making up ground.
The vette is the more usable car. braking and handling..not just stright G forces, plus change out the runflats and you have a totally differnt beast the runflats are the zo6 biggest mistakes...Put it on MPS like the viper and accleration and lateral grip becomes a dead heat....runflats hold the Zo6 back. No i'f and s or but's
stupid3ever, uh, the z06 has AC, stereo, Navigation, electric everything, keyless entry and start, and something extremely usefull that the viper will never have, heads up display.
The viper is barely faster, can't go through the turns nearly as well, and is extremely uncomfortable to drive in more than a couple times around the track.
Vette wins for a reason. Its a better car. End of story.

honestly i would take the viper over the corvette. the corvette as tested was the Z06, not the base model C6. the problem i have with this kind of test is the tiers of the cars when it comes to upgrades. the viper srt-10 is the first level of performance to the viper, the next level up is the increased handling of the new ACR. if you want to compare cars then compare base models in the truest form. also i just hate how the vette sounds like it's fighting to even perform.
both are insanely fast cars, but Corvettes are rattle-traps. Not saying they are a bad car, but I'd take a viper any day. Also I had a friend that almost died racing behind a vett b/c the vett's engine blew up and debris flew into his viper's windshield... almost decapitating him.

I think that there is no doubt chevy built a better performing machine. Corvette's are far batter cars than Vipers. They handle better, have much better ride quality, nicer interiors, etc. The only great thing about a Viper is straight line acceleration.

I recently had the opportunity to drive a 2008 Z06 and a 2008 Viper.
Love them both for different reasons.
I have to say the Viper requires more effort and concentration to drive, but oh man does it pull and what a sound!!

These are 2 badass cars. i wish i could afford to put a viper next to my vette....the economy sucks...but maybe someday a used viper may be a possibility...people that own these cars may run them hard but really take good care of them as well!!

Yeah i do when its 2+liters bigger and has 2 more cylinders. The Viper has always enjoyed a healthy displacement advantage. Since day one. I think its damn impressive tht a Zo6 stock can hang.....and a Zr1 will smoke it.

you all can keep arguing forever, the facts are, viper engine is much better and if you wanted to add hp you could for days, straight line viper wins, corvette is also capable of serious hp, but is a better handling car, depends on what you like

I agree the viper engine does not have to be built to handle the boost like a vette engine does, the turbos are a much better choice for a viper than a supercharger though

The ACR has the record at the ring, not the ZR-1. Also, the Vette does not have a V10

Viper loses, because its an uncomfortable hot( temp) car inside...its just a hair faster in 0-60 and then the vette starts making up ground.
The vette is the more usable car. braking and handling..not just stright G forces, plus change out the runflats and you have a totally differnt beast the runflats are the zo6 biggest mistakes...Put it on MPS like the viper and accleration and lateral grip becomes a dead heat....runflats hold the Zo6 back. No i'f and s or but's

What you dont see on the show is the inside of the viper, with has a stereo, satellite navigation electric windows ect.

stupid3ever, uh, the z06 has AC, stereo, Navigation, electric everything, keyless entry and start, and something extremely usefull that the viper will never have, heads up display.
The viper is barely faster, can't go through the turns nearly as well, and is extremely uncomfortable to drive in more than a couple times around the track.
Vette wins for a reason. Its a better car. End of story.

The Viper is not a daily livable car...and its just a hair...quicker than bone stock V8 NA Zo6 with 95 less hp sad!!!
For all the above mentioned reasons.the Vette stands heads up! The badass underdog...not a firebreathing V10 . expect the unexpected from GM they have nothing to lose at this point.

honestly i would take the viper over the corvette. the corvette as tested was the Z06, not the base model C6. the problem i have with this kind of test is the tiers of the cars when it comes to upgrades. the viper srt-10 is the first level of performance to the viper, the next level up is the increased handling of the new ACR. if you want to compare cars then compare base models in the truest form. also i just hate how the vette sounds like it's fighting to even perform.

both are insanely fast cars, but Corvettes are rattle-traps. Not saying they are a bad car, but I'd take a viper any day. Also I had a friend that almost died racing behind a vett b/c the vett's engine blew up and debris flew into his viper's windshield... almost decapitating him.

I think that there is no doubt chevy built a better performing machine. But i seen a few vipers and alot of vettes around here (yes including plenty of Z06s) and i personally cannot get over how stunning the viper looks when you see it. They look very similar in person from the front, but damn once you walk around the viper you are almost scared to drive near one with the fear of it eating your car.

Corvette's are far batter cars than Vipers. They handle better, have much better ride quality, nicer interiors, etc. The only great thing about a Viper is straight line acceleration.

Toyota Tundra gets 18 MPG with a V6 the Ford gets 21 with a V8. Chevy gets 20 with a V8. I would take the Viper too.

What is this ZR1 talk, all they say is that "wait till the ZR1 comes". First of all, its just like the price tag of the viper, so the practical part is gone, secondly, the ZR1 will never have the tital "viper". 3rdly a stalk zR1 will beat a stock viper, but if you have the right modifications for a viper, it will out perform a ZR1, and there are some models that have, and then they say" we can mode the Zr1 too". your forgetting, its already modded lol, not much you can do. thats just me though.

I'm with you man, basically a ZR1 is basically a Coupe Corvette (6.2 Liter V8) that's Supercharged and has some other Modifications too, I guess I'm not the only one who didn't care :P
If Dodge really thought they had serious competition with Chevy, they'd just throw in a Supercharger in a Viper and set it loose, then watch it destory the competition!

it can do a 3.4! when you put 500 bhp in a lightweight car like that youll be getting low 3s. the only thing that will stop any car like that is limited traction. power, aerodynamics and gearing determine which will actually accelerate faster on a highway or long straight, in this case the gt2 would win.
