There needs to be more of a spread to pick from... Or like it once was, First highest elected, is President, the first runner up should be Vice President. They should work together. It may not be the best approach but I think it is better than the completely once sided approach to the presidency that we have today.
Unfortunately, I think that this country only has 2 major parties because those parties are the most wealthily. There needs to be a party that better addresses the voice of all.
Another nice video - are running for president though (as at the end, one team needs to be selected and somewhat, it may be a choice of "the lesser evil of the two"). The increasing social disparity issue wins for me and any serious plan to address it would get my vote.
You mean to make the best decision you can based on a conscience and reason, knowing that your imperfect solutions will seldom be optimum, but that there is probably a reality based best case scenario that you may have to choose to avoid doing nothing. You'll never get elected.
No matter which one you choose, you'll be compromising your principles. You just have to settle for which one is focused on more important issues.
If you yanks keep raising taxes on your rich & regulating in the name of 'fairness', there will be no jobs left for anyone, and there will be a lot less social & economic 'justice'.
Taxes & regulations should be your number 1 priority, and all these other issues can be debated on your state & local levels.
Such an american attitude, why can't you pick and choose? It's like atheists when they argue against christians, they assume they all hate gays won't have a shag before marriage and believe every damn word in the old testament.
@zck7 Yes both parties serve the interests of elite that's why we should all be supporting Ron Paul the only candidate who will bring us real change he is poised to take South Carolina a big state that can decide the whole primary.
"our county was founded by religious dissidents who came here to worship their god freely" well. that isn't correct the puritans didn't go to america to "worship freely" they went to punish people who didn't worship god, the puritans believed that humans should be punished for what they did in the garden of eden, anything fun would be defying gods punishment, fun was sin in their eyes. so they left Europe and went to america to punish those who didn't believe as they did.
@barronzaren That is just a biased blanket statement. Know humanity better than that. Life is incredibly complex Puritans were forced out of England when tensions reached a head the different states of New England emerged from differing religious beliefs did you know that? Rhode Island was the freest and still is.
@jrda128 Glad to know you are so tolerant and accepting. Didn't realize everyone was entitled to their opinion on the subject as long as it agreed with yours. Without christianity western civilization would not exist. Religion holds us together if you want to survive you must have a group tribal sense and work for the benefit of the team. Religion is part of our culture and heritage I accept Christianity and really am tolerant in that I accept everyone but do not believe in a God.
THIS IS THE SAD REALITY OF CAPITALISM!!! This is why we have an invincible superclass and a poor (and getting worse) working class. What they created is a world where you have to follow this life style or die.
who are making it tough for change to happen. A president should be able to do this without any legal or financial consequences (which means that if he was wrong he should still be able to speak freely). Who will hire anyone after criticizing a financial institution, which university would pay 10 thousand dollars for one lecture made by a politician who earlier had forced universities to lower their fees.
Due to our commercial mentality we have made the elections more of a popularity vote. Countries need politicians who will show the problems and call out the names of people (and corporations)
(if i was able to vote) I would choose a politician who is honest to his people. Not the one blinding people with promises. Not someone who will make decisions to show off, only to further restrict ones freedom of speech in the future.
Unfortunately, there can be only one! None of us has the time or money to make their own team, so we are forced to choose a side. This,by the way is wrong, cause it only allows certain people to get into politics (and its usually the wealthier layer).
I understand that each sides can look reasonable sometimes but ONE crucial important difference....one of those sides has unreasonable hunger for war, which hurts our country(trillions of dollars wasted, soldiers die or end up with PTSD) as much the invaded country and many innocent civilians die.
i can never choose this side...that i can say.
ps.theres bags under ur eyes.. u need more excercise.
@paultheuglydog, I don't think anyone know who the best person is, but if you don't vote you've got, so to speak, no rights to complain about what's wrong with the society you live in. You can leave a blank vote: weather it is seen as a protest vote or that you'll support the outcome where you voted. The bigest threat to a democracy is the lack of particpance.
You're quote right concerning teamspirit. Once chosen a team it 's hard not to stay with it. But you have an ultimate goal, for instance a competing USA or à more sociale USA. I should say stick to the team.
this country is so divided down the middle. whatever "team" is in control, about half the country is going to be pissed off. personally, i think the dems are the lesser of 2 evils but that's not saying a whole lot. both "teams" are sinking this country because corporate money is in control of both "teams". until we get term limits for congress, have true campaign reform and get rid of lobbyists, we're screwed. and we need to take non-politicians, like ralph nader, more seriously.
Seems like you have chosen a side. The part about government involvement and regulating "greedy" business, remember one thing, they will control "all" business not just the greedy. Beware the government so large that it can't be stopped. Government was never meant to have any control in our lives, it was supposed to serve us, not control us.
...and there are those of us who don’t want to belong to no team...We never did and we never will and to be honest I don’t think we "the creative types” actually can ...
@smoothstringsron ~We already have socialism for the rich and free market for everyone else. They privatize profits & socialize losses at every opportunity.
Here is a trickle-down theory: End corporate welfare, & keep corporations out of politics & then the poor won't need so much help, they will be truly empowered with their votes instead of overwhelmed by *bought" politics.
The sickness is when average people feel compelled to line up behind corporations to feel any political might
Nice video. I like how you put all of this together. And you were very articulate about both sides. And I agree with you about agreeing with some of each side. And I find it annoying that there is this thought process out there that says that we have to choose either side without taking into account our own side and beliefs.
It is human nature to complain. Lori, you are well aware of this, you made a business of it. One that I like. I could have said we but most people would have thought that it was used as the royal we. I think it was Ben Franklin who said "The average person does not want to think for themselves." In other words idiots are us. I am not sure where I am going with this but you once again have caused me to think.
The two teams are capitalism and socialism. All modern systems are a mix of capitalism and socialism. The fight is always over what proportions of capitalism and socialism the society should consist of. The rich always favor capitalism, except wealthy bleeding hearts who are motivated to support socialism as a form as "social justice," only as long as they can keep a large slush fund to live off of.
Perhaps I should just forget about this whole revolution thing, and petition the Queen to see if we can rejoin the Commonwealth. Being ruled by a enlightened monarch has to better than having the MPAA, RIAA or Corporation X telling me what I can do with my computer.

Obama has already signed the NDAA bill meaning when your economy collapses and you all get angry and decide to come out on the streets to protest, you will be met by an oppressive police force who will arrest you beat u down and put u in FEMA camps and torture your asses and u will have no rights because the 4th and 5th amendment have been destroyed. The point being Obama has deceived u foolish Americans and your demise is close at hand. U have to be stupid to believe an election will save u!

Who ever you vote for democrat or republican it really doesn't matter because by the end of this year or possibly the next America as we know it will be finished, your going to witness the biggest monetary collapse in history, their will be riots and civil unrest on an unimaginable scale, the collapse of the dollar will result in hyper-inflation in which the price of everything will sky rocket, your credit cards will fail and your savings will be wiped.
@Theresident you would totally kick ass if you we're at the white house! but i dont trust the government ...9/11 was an inside job....im really confused right now i dont know know if i should be a republican or a democrat ...but go team resident anyways! you rock
I've never voted, even though it's compulsory in Australia.Never been fined for it,either.I probably wouldn't even vote for the Resident. She's the best, though!
I already said it I think. I subbed a few years ago and even then I thought, The Resident would make such a good President. My goodness imagine someone as intelligent as The Resident in the White House. Oh, the horror! Lobbyists running for their lives.
I've been watching the Republicans fight for the nomination.C'mon now,are they the best you've got?Are they representative of the American people? If they are,and one of those A'holes get elected, then the World is in for more of the same old, same old!
@poopsmudge and while I'm at it I might as well buy a 1 square foot of property in the most relevant state and stick a mailbox on it and register to vote in that state.
Damn,I thought I was gonna see Lori in a cheerleading mini skirt."Hey,Mickey, you're so fine"....W.T.F?It's mostly only third world countries that want to emulate the U.S.
So, what are your thoughts on Jon Huntsman? To my (barely-informed-sheeple's) view, he seems to be a moderate conservative that is pro-business and pro-humanity. He seems to be as real a person as you can get that works in international politics, and plus... he named July 30th "Dream Theater Day" in Utah! :D Any thoughts?
I too believe in personal responsibility, but I also believe in helping those who are not able to help themselves. I believe a country that makes sure that it's citizens are healthy, fed, and housed will be a productive and strong country. However, a country that encourages it's citizens into cut-throat competition with each other and an "I got mine" mentality will result in a nation that kills itself from the inside.
Very well done! It is difficult to deal with this fractured state of government. I personally believe that if there were numerous political parties that could actually compete with the big 2 that a more blended belief system could be available to vote for......Hey I saw you on national news (NBC) earlier this week. They didn't name you but discussed your " man on the street" interviews.....they liked you.....as do I!
That doesn't change with more parties. In Holland we've got 20 political parties. When you vote one of them, they make so many different deals with other parties to become a majority on certain points, that non of what they preach or why you chose them in the first place is practised.
For instance, some parties that were for abortion, suddenly are against because they want more roads and need that one seat. So small parties suddenly can become very strong and big suddenly very weak.
@wjfox2006 Liberal policies caused this economic mess. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac forced lenders to give out 55% of their loans to people below the median income. They were led by Franklin Rains and Jamie Gorrelic, two liberals. They then bundled and sold those loans throughout the financial sector. Liberals in congress insisted everything was fine and Fannie and Freddie, in spite of the Bush admin calling for reforms. This is inarguable and verifiable fact.
@wjfox2006 Wow, you've got a way to go before you figure anything out.... its all by design,. Doesn't matter who is in office they are both on the same team, its the one against the people.
You sound reasonable - something both party extremists don't want. Sounds like you are another convert to the middle of the bell curve where millions of us reside, hoping to retain the freedom to pick political operatives and conversations cafeteria-style. The truth is that the media and political establishment pick these puppets for us. It's just a beauty contest. No offense to beauty contests....at least you get to see some nice legs every once in a while!
In Great Britain religion doesn't affect government policy as it does in the US, religion is dying. Pro lifers wouldn't stand a chance, churches close every week. There's massive influx of foreigners. Welfare is an occupation for a lot, we pay too much for fuel and food, we have the smallest living spaces in the first world, we don't trust our politicians. Britain has been picked clean of prosperity and all that's left is a rotting carcass. Sad thing is that the US is going exactly the same way
Nice video, Res. you might have done the red side saying: 'I believe Israel is our number 1 priority always and forever, and will continue to send endless piles of U.S. tax-payers' money there to fund that country's oppression and aggression in the Middle East'.... and the the blue side saying: ... well, EXACTLY THE SAME THING. No choice, America... wake yourselves up.
@mrzack888 not worried. but both parties conduct and platforms are based on an economy that has the stability to prop up entitlement programs, defense, health care ect. Neither party talks about how the petro dollar is about to take an ass-kicking. Most of these partisan arguments rely on funds that simply do not exist. I should have been specific....
Team Resident - sign me up! Yep, the plutocracy has been driving this Dem/Rep wedge through the heart of America for decades. It's about time people are starting to wake up to their machinations.
Quick plug for another nonpartisan thinker - dancarlin-dawt-com - check him out, get on his community forum and get involved in a way you cannot from the craven MSM mouthpieces.
I am an independent. I choose the person not their party. If I think they can do the job they tell us they can do then that is the one I go with. My mother always told me we were living in the last days and times. This year coming up I believe her. Instead of the proverbial mark of the beast 666 it is RFID. A chip that is already been embedded in our credit cards and clothing, yes clothing. Walmart has been doing it for a few years now.Our drivers license, in your pet. Google it???
Here's the thing, absolutes suck. I'm a bleeding heart, liberal progressive socialist. But I love the 2nd amendment. As well as the 1st and 4th. But as a liberal progressive, I pretty much don't have a team in America. :/
But I have to say, your Blue team sounds a whole lot more sane than the Red.
You have to vote for a single candidate. Either you don't vote or you choose a team. Which is it?
My team trumps all teams. it's us in a true constitutional democracy. one day people will realize they can govern themselves and not allow only politicians to make all the decisions that effect their lives.
Who is this girl? She's freakin' awesome! Hey Resident girl, you're awesome. How have I not discovered your channel before?
I see someone just called you a, "shitty lip job rabble-rouser"..... That's pretty mean.... To hell with these hateful losers. You rock!

@NYredwhiteandblue interestingly enough, both 'sides' claim to be for freedom. One is freedom, the other is the freedom to conform...or be demonized.

They didn't name you but discussed your " man on the street" interviews.....they liked you.....as do I!
mittius8 2 months ago
With all those deals, here in Holland we say. When you vote right, you'll get left.
Brulluhman 2 months ago
That doesn't change with more parties. In Holland we've got 20 political parties. When you vote one of them, they make so many different deals with other parties to become a majority on certain points, that non of what they preach or why you chose them in the first place is practised.
For instance, some parties that were for abortion, suddenly are against because they want more roads and need that one seat. So small parties suddenly can become very strong and big suddenly very weak.

Republicans caused this economic mess.
wjfox2006 2 months ago
@wjfox2006 Liberal policies caused this economic mess. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac forced lenders to give out 55% of their loans to people below the median income. They were led by Franklin Rains and Jamie Gorrelic, two liberals. They then bundled and sold those loans throughout the financial sector. Liberals in congress insisted everything was fine and Fannie and Freddie, in spite of the Bush admin calling for reforms. This is inarguable and verifiable fact.
jepst41 2 months ago

No choice, America... wake yourselves up.

how does it all work when fiat currency collapses?
readywerx 2 months ago 2
@readywerx a new fiat currency comes along. nothing to worry about. happens all the time, if u know history.
mrzack888 2 months ago
@mrzack888 not worried. but both parties conduct and platforms are based on an economy that has the stability to prop up entitlement programs, defense, health care ect. Neither party talks about how the petro dollar is about to take an ass-kicking. Most of these partisan arguments rely on funds that simply do not exist. I should have been specific....
readywerx 2 months ago

Does Team Resident have a vote? Is it a party and can it be voted for?
MonicaTheMad 2 months ago
Here's the thing, absolutes suck. I'm a bleeding heart, liberal progressive socialist. But I love the 2nd amendment. As well as the 1st and 4th. But as a liberal progressive, I pretty much don't have a team in America. :/
But I have to say, your Blue team sounds a whole lot more sane than the Red.
You have to vote for a single candidate. Either you don't vote or you choose a team. Which is it?
