With the risk of sounding old (god I am now arn't I) I was threre when doom hit, right there in a generic software store in our local mall that was selling shareware disk copies for thoese without internet/bbs access. We loved wolf3d, and there was doom, my dad, my older brother and me, just 11 years old, and we all had the same reaction, jaws on floor! It was that big of deal for pc gaming, and gaming in general, pre-3d cards.

This is a really interesting special, but I gotta say, it's interesting how after a certain point they always show Mario just bumping blocks or jumping on mushrooms (as if that's all there is to it) to compare it with everything else.

moreover, in all game documentaries, Nintendo game designers are shown as pure genii who invented all the gaming concepts. for example Zelda is often presented as the first of the genre. then what about ingenious ULTIMA, published 6 years before?!
