The ironical thing is that Lucky Grills lived until the age of 79 (he died in 2007) but the much slimmer and healthier-looking Gerda Nicolson who played constable Bourke died suddenly of a stroke aged only 54 in June 1992, only a year before 'Bargearse' went to air on season 2 of the Late Show. Tony Martin received permission from her family to use the footage on the condition that she wasn't made fun of, hence her character being the sensible one. Nicolson is best-remembered for TV's 'Prisoner'

Guys I met Lucky Grills in 2004 working at a hotel in Melbourne. He was performing at an oldies bash some 50's tunes. I didn't need to take my pen out, his order was simple. A shit load of diet coke cans. He was off the grog.

Lucky Grills was a national Australian treasure, I used to watch bluey as a kid, with the old valiant hemis, holdens and fords in car chases. Bargearse is am absolute pisser, Lucky was also a comedian and liked giving everyone a good laugh even at his own expense,

"Bluey" wasn't a 'lame' cop show, it was an Australian classic, it had an established fan base in the UK, if I could find a DVD of all the episodes I'd buy it, Lucky died in 2007 R.I.P.
