  • Hi..can I use this pedal with a Taylor NYLON string guitar with a grand auditarium body shape? ......If so are the nylon string images very good?..Thanks ...it is difficult to get clear info about this pedal.....

  • @kliff10 Just looked in the Aura Gallery for you, there's a Taylor NS72ce Nylon model. That might match the shape, but you might find another classical image might match the wood combination of your guitar, unless you happen to have the NS72ce. Best thing I can say is try to get to a shop that has one and try it. I think the Nylon models will be good, but they don't change the sound of a steal string enough to make it sound like a Nylon, you have to use a Nylon for that, so I didn't demo it.

  • @kliff10 If you search "Fishman Aura Spectrum DI - Nylon mode" SydneyShiu has a demo of some of the Nylon String models, but there are more in the gallery.

  • if people read online that aura systems are only supposed to be used with acoustic guitars, its a bunch of bullshit because especially in this video right here, and various bands that im into that use piezo pickups in their electric guitars, they all use the fishman aura system

  • I have a Yamaha Silent Guitar and I'm now seriously considering getting this pedal!

  • @0326tks Thank you! Glad so many people are finding it helpful. It was a quick demo but I did it because when I was thinking of buying one I couldn't find any reviews or demos so was cautious about if it would work. I think I must have boosted Fishman's sales of this pedal :-P

  • Great demo! thanks for taking the time to really explore the pedal. Many demos don't give you a good comparison.

  • @woshushe I think it would work with a passive piezo, there is a volume control and a trim which provides some boost on the side. But it might be better to get the DI version, that might be better for a passive piezo. Best thing you can do is try it out at a store!

  • it looks very good! you think it could work with passive piezo? It has enough gain in your opinion? thanks, Andrea

  • Great demo man!

  • I forgot to ask, what does the pedal sound llike when used with mag pickups?

  • @mojoefly The pedal really doesn't work with magnetic pickups, it really needs to be used with piezo. With the magnetic pickups the tone of them comes through too much, you don't get definition on the high end frequencies, and you loose the woodyness that makes it sound acoustic.

  • been waiting for this video. thanks. i heard a great deal of a difference. I think the aura will be perfect with my parker as there is not enough body.

its cool how the guitar sounded like a reall hollow body acoustic guitar with the aura. im sold. ill be buying one.

  • @mojoefly Not sure if you've bought one yet, but I'd recommend getting the Aura Spectrum DI i you're going to play live a lot. I really wish I got one as its much easier just to set up one pedal than the Aura 16 + Tuner + DI. It also means it can be phantom powered as this thing uses quite a lot of battery.

I'm thinking of selling mine and getting the DI version. Its a little more expensive, but if you're playing live its worth it.

  • @jamesdlow thanks for the info. yes, i was thinking of getting the DI instead. quite expensive though.

  • @jamesdlow No one had posted any demos like mine yet :P so I wasn't sure I wanted to the spend the extra on the DI, so I just bought the 16. You get EQ/Compressor/Tuner added for the price :)

  • Wow, I'm impressed with both the Fishman and the guitar!

  • John Petrucci use it on stage with his signature guitar.

  • This sounds really cool with that guitar! I saw at least one question about what this would sound like with an electric guitar. I can't speak to that, but, Alex Lifeson of Rush had piezos put in his les pauls, and he runs them through fishman imaging pedals. Check out footage from the Snakes and Arrows Tour. The song that comes to mind where you really get to hear the piezo and fishman combo on a les paul is "Armor and Sword." He gets a pretty convincing acoustic sound.

  • This sounds really nice. I think I need to get one. I use a dynamic mic & guitar pickup combo to record my acoustic, but since getting a little dog that barks at almost everything she hears outside that's a lesson in frustration. Maybe not as open as a good condenser mic, but very good tone nonetheless!

  • @BubbaFart I agree, I normally record with an acoustic and a Rode NT1, but this is great for when I want to do quicker things, and sooooo helpful live.

  • @psycho969 thanks! is a Michael Kelly Hybrid Special

  • Thanks for this video... It's really cool :)

  • Thanks so much for the demo. I have been considering using it for the same thing, but I was worried it would be a waste of money. This seals the deal. I am going get one.

  • GREAT DEMO, VERY INFORMATIVE ABOUT WHAT THE AURA CAN DO AS YOU RECORDED DIRECT, UNLIKE OTHERS. THANKS.

  • Thanks dude

  • It sounds really good!

    Thanks for the demo.

Question.. what does it sound like with an electric guitar (no piezo).

  • @anomalous11010001101 Unfortunately you really need to drive it with a piezo pickup not electric pickups.

Its not a complete modeling pedal that can change the sound completely.

  • Just a coupe of other things:

    1) Sorry about the modulation on the sound thats from youtube re-encoding the video, it stops you hearing the difference so much.

    2) I tried it with classical/nylon string models, it sounds ok, but not really like a nylon.

    3) I tend to like the Soundelux 47 / Neumann M147 mic'd models

    4) I demoed the Taylor sound because that's what I use live, but some of the other sounds are more 'acousticy' if you're in the studio or do a lot of finger picking.
