@spankula123 He does stuff like this because he's allowed to do stuff like this. There's no misbehavior in this video. If you think you can tell if he's the "alpha dog" based on your Dog Whisperer-sourced dog knowledge and a few minute video of my dog you're an idiot. I never said anything he did was his fault or anything he did was bad. Go take your uninformed "internet dog training police" bullshit elsewhere.
My Boxer is the same way: Once she's asleep, she is OUT. I don't even think a sonic boom would wake her up! ... And she snores like nobody's business!
My folks and I raise Bernese Mountain Dogs, and they don't care that its your bed, if they out weigh you, they out vote you, And when its seven dogs to one human they win. Mind you I am a softy, but it could be worse. We had one dog,who weighed 120 lbs and her favorite way of waking you up was to lay on you, Best way to lick your face awake.
@Ipodmoeilijk I'm doing whatever I feel like doing. He's allowed to sleep in the bed and will move when I wasn't to go to sleep. He's allowed to mouth me when we play and knows not to bite. There is nothing aggressive about my dog and you have no idea what you're talking about.
What a cute pair! I've had many Malamutes and a few labs also. Ally looks like a lab cross. One of my Malamute females was named Ally (Alyeska). I have raised dogs my whole life and now I can't because of physical problems. Hopefully I will again in the future. I miss them! I just lost my chocolate lab less than 2 years ago, but now I can't get another dog until I am better. Just seeing your beautiful dogs brings back lots of memories. Shiloh is one good-looking boy (and he knows it).
You can move a dog heh. Malamutes are gorgeous dogs and just like any dog, they need discipline, structure and positive reinforcement. If the dog wouldn't move for me, I'd just climb up and move it by bothering it or pull the sheet/blanket up and yank it lol
Something's moving because I would be sleeping in my bed.
Shiloh's all, "I don't HEAAAAAAAAAAAR you. This is my bed. I am deaf. I am asleep. Who are you again? Oh but I can't heeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaar you so it doesn't matter who you are."
Ally's very, "whatever you want dad, I'll do it! Times TWO!"
@oodnac I completely agree, they're obviously healthy and definitely happy. Mals have such a sense of humor, anyway, I saw nothing wrong with this at all. Actually I thought it was adorable :)
I don't see why this is a reason to never have a Malamute... any dog will act this way if you let it. Anyway, beautiful dogs. The little black dog has the cutest face ever.
if it were me, i'd just crawl up and lie on him and annoy him to show him it's MY bed, or at least to move over and share! = P Though, this one seems like he wouldn't care in the least if you did that. o-o
@wheels687 When I want to go to bed I tell him to go to his bed. If he's sleeping on the foot of the bed he'll get up on his own because he doesn't like sleeping with anyone for very long. I think he gets hot.
Umm, with all due respect, the reason your dogs are like this is probably because you don't make sure they know the "rules" of the house. We have a malamute, and he is perfectly well-behaved, we NEVER let him on the beds (or the couch for that matter) if he does anything truly bad (like growling for example), we immediately "bad dog!" and send him outside. Over the years he has learned what's ok, what's not, and is a very good dog.
@Gfhdmn1 hmmmm....that depends what u want ur dog to be, if u have a kids that the best u could do with ur dog cos it's important that dog obeys at first word. I wanted my to be more like a companion and she was allowed to object and even growl. that was the way she commented on my actions and commands. And just try to say my dog wasn't good, she was the best dog ever!!!
@Gfhdmn1 My malamute is perfectly behaved. Do not assume that YOUR rules of YOUR house apply in mine. He is allowed on the bad and is doing nothing wrong in this video. He would never even think to growl or be aggressive towards me because he knows I will take his ass to the ground.
@li7in6 I wasn't trying to imply that you should use the rules from our house in yours. I said what I said because I thought that you were serious about trying to steer people away from malamutes, because you thought they were too much trouble (which I can now isn't the case). I apologize if what I said offended you in any way, shape or form.
Shiloh looks just like my mal Moose, who races me up the bedroom every night, just to "warm up" my side of the bed. Also, 3 cheers to you for having a dark colored comforter, you are a brave Malamute owner!
A lot of people think that Huskies cause trouble, if you train them correctly they do not. With the Malamute, I actually own one that required way less training than the Husky and is well behaved all the time!
I mean put my extensive dog behavior knowledge aside, anyone should be able to see that there's no misbehavior in this video...I mean yeah the Mal mouths him, but he started it with his hand gesture, I'm guessing it's a game they play, I do that to my dog all the time, but that doesn't mean she walks all over me.
All that being said, you are right, this video has made me never want a Malamute!
Just kidding, I am totally getting one once I'm out of my apartment. lol ;)
I honestly do not get what's the big hype up about this video? It's a guy video taping a Mal sleeping and a mixed breed doing a few tricks and getting petted? I don't even see how in any way the dogs are misbehaving? He doesn't tell them to get off, and even invites Ally onto the bed, which says in itself that the dogs are allowed on there...
Our malamute doesn't sleep in our bed. One time (in the begining) he jumped on it but immediately we reacted (we didn't allow it). Now he has his own space to sleep (which he loves) and is not interested in our bed.
@buddyleex Tell me dog whisperer, how can you tell what my dog is "thinking" through this video? That's a pretty impressive talent, you should take that show on the road.
@li7in6 He is right, why the hell you pet the dog if he's doing something wrong? How would he know whats wrong and right if you pet him either way? It starts with a firm tune of voice, loud even if necessary, show the dog that what he is doing is pissing you off so he would stop. You obviously know jack shit about dogs behavior, and yes before you say anything, I know, I do, and I'm qualified army dog trainer.
@jozeaphe You must be retarded, unable to read, and unable to comprehend what is going on in a video you supposedly just watched. Where did I tell him NOT to do something then pet him? Nowhere. There is no reason to correct him or "yell at him" as he is not doing anything wrong, is following my rules perfectly fine, and being a good dog. Thus I am playing with him and petting him to show affection. Kindly take your overzealous aspie internet-dog-training-police bullshit elsewhere.
@li7in6 Dude, get some balls and jog on, I love my dogs and the passion I show them is exponential, but dogs are like kids, you can't be compassion and easy all the time with them, kids some times needs to disciplined in order to raise "Good kids", so does dogs, they need love but strict when needed. Lame gay ass.
@jozeaphe "get some balls"? How do you mean? You seem like an angry child looking for a place to throw around insults and try to 'prove' you have some sort of knowledge on an issue when you really dont. You have no idea how I train and discipline my dogs nor my philosophy on training them. You just think, after seeing a brief video that you didnt even understand, that you somehow know me and my dogs and think you are in any position to advise me on how to train them. Here's a hint, you arent
@li7in6 Because Malamutes are pack animals that are BORN with the pack animal instinct to follow an alpha male. If you ALLOW them to do something or have their way they are going to walk all over you.
@Spartan66 Thank you for the snippet of internet derived dog psychology you read somewhere. I guess I shouldn't "ALLOW" my dog to do anything for fear of him "walking all over me". Again, startling conclusions you've pulled from my short video here, you must be some sort of wizard. I allow my dogs on my bed, they have limits and rules that they follow and are very well trained. If you don't like the way I raise my dogs or how I treat them you can kindly go fuck yourself, thanks. :)
@li7in6 JAJA come on dude just ignore the other comments ....why ya'll figthing about this if you are the only one that knows how the dog bahaves in your house and if u say hes well trained then ignore all those bad comments
@li7in6 Yeah... Im fairly certain that over half of the comments you got on this video are people telling you that you have an untrained or poorly trained dog... and this internet derived dog psychology you speak of is call RESEARCH, because most literature written about dog or pet training and behavior can be found online these days. So how about you crawl out of your self defensive shell and take some friendly advice.. jackass...
@Spartan66 Anyone that comments on the level of training of my dog based on this video is a selfrighteous retard not worth taking seriously. The video shows no bad behavior or demonstration of their 'training' beyond ally trying to roll over and being confused about the camera. The vast majority of comments make no mention of the training of my dogs. Additionally I never asked for the internet dog training police to give me any 'advice' on training my dog as it is unwanted and unnecessary.
Haha My Siberian Husky does this. When she decides to go to sleep and my wife will harass her for an hour and she will just ignore her completely. (What is this thing touching me? Maybe if I pretend to be asleep it will go away.)
@TaichouSin The funny thing is Shiloh prefers to sleep in the living room because its cooler out there. We have a leather recliner that I don't find very comfortable and no one else seems to sit in it. It has turned into Shiloh's recliner and he loves sleeping in it.
@li7in6 It's fine if explicitly allowed but what I meant was when you are not around. If they remain on the bed, they think it's theirs and could cause problems if they already have a crate or bed of their own.
@buddyleex He has a very nice bed at the foot or ours that he actually sleeps on most of the time. He actually doesn't like sleeping in the bed when we do. He is also crate trained and will go to his crate on command. There are no problems with him napping on our bed and haven't been for 4 years
@li7in6 the problem is the title is really misleading to the context of the video, maybe add like "jk" at the end or something but in my opinion when i first saw the title it put me off getting my malamute in the new year since i thought there was something really bad about it. but that was my opinion
@FranksTankz ~70,000 people got the lighthearted nature of the video and its tongue in cheek title, only a handful are oblivious and feel the need to be presumptuous internet dog training police. I don't think the video is the problem.
It's not that there's a problem. It's actually super cute as you said. But dogs, like the wolf. and especially the malamute which is very close to the wolf genetically, are pack animals. They have a social hierarchy and everything. Right he just thinks his the Alpha male, the owner, and you're the pet.
@Xartaetos2007 Interesting how you can 'infer' what he 'thinks' based on this video. But I can assure you he knows I am the pack leader. If I actually told him to get off the bed he would, as you can see I'm petting him and playing with/teasing him.
@halosapien1 When a dog wants to sleep....You are not moving them!!! My male Boxer and Female Rott do this all the time! The boxer will get under the blankets and kick you until you move over!
@TriXx666 Ally does the same thing. She's slept under the covers since she was a puppy and now will root her nose around until she gets under and curl up next to you. She loves sleeping right between me and my girlfriend.
Your lab mix reminds me of my lab I had which was mixed with a border collie. She unfortunately passed away last year from old-age. It made me happy to watch your video too and brought back a lot of good memories. Thank you.
@ItalianDC A handfull of oblivious internet dog police feel the need to try to demonstrate their knowledge based on assumptions. The vast majority of viewers and commenters are not oblivious, understand the lighthearted nature of the video, and don't feel the need to inject their "internet police hurr hurr i know better than you" opinion.
@1edefs3 We're not sure, We think she's a mix of lab an corgie but she could be any number of things. She definitely has a corgie attitude and the long body and short legs. When she was a puppy we thought she was a lab but she stopped growing at about 4 months leaving us confused, looked just like a lab up til then. She has a ton of excess skin like she was meant to be a bigger dog but never grew into it. Whatever she is, we love her just the way she is.
Yep reminds me of all the malamutes I've seen before big sweet softies. I live in Alaska, and they make for great family dogs but seem to be overly gentle. Thats why my friend pairs her big lovable malamute Normus with her distrusting hyperactive and overly protective little beagle. The beagle was trained to be highly suspicious of strangers, but also to calm down quickly once their owner gives a signal. If the beagle stays freaked out too long Normus starts getting upset and will chase and bite
@21stCenturyBoxProduc Huskies and Malamutes are similar at first glance but there are distinct differences. Most obvious is the size difference, The breed standard has malamutes at 25 to 45lbs more than the standard husky. Giant malamutes can get up around 160lbs. The markings, build proportions ,eyes, and head shape are also notably different if you know what you're looking at.
@li7in6 Yeah, well, my Husky is far from standard. :P He's 100lbs, and looks quite similar to the malamute in the video. Although there are noticeable differences, eye color, eye shape, and a couple small things. The fur is almost identical though.
@diana1vasquez Are you even legal bitch? You should be gagged & flogged for making such assinine comments. I hate idiots like you that dish it out but can't take the return; like a true coward Talk about a TROLL, it's tatooed on your forehead. You've got some audicity; only shit for brains would make a shit stink from a sweet animal video. I want to enjoy these videos, not put up w/trailer trash like you. Go suck off somewhere else & stop ruining a good thing, you've already tainted the page..
@chemutu It's a boy. I take him for walks in the evening. Ge gets pooped out after a mile or two. I used to harness him up and have him pull me on my mountain bike but haven't had the time recently unfortunately.
@chemutu yes, he's my teddybear. He likes to crawl up and sleep above your head on the pillows in the morning. Bad thing is you end up with a face full of fur.
@JAZ1792 They're really not good guard dogs. He's gentle and loveable with all people. He'd greet a burglar at the door with his tail wagging and a smile on his face. He might accidentally scare them off with his looks and talking 'growl' tho. Sure seems to scare the piss out of new guests when he gets really friendly and starts 'growling' at them. Would never mean anybody any harm tho, its just not in them.
Oh gosh, Shiloh is gorgeous! He looks just like my boy, I swear! And as lazy and spoiled too! I can't believe he didn't move at all at the beginning of the video. LOL! Typical spoiled mal. Little Ally is so adorable, reminds me of my cousins' sweet little dog. I must say, I got misty at the end when you were petting him & putting your hand in his mouth-he didn't show any aggression and licked your hand at the end. My boy is like that too, sweet as honey. Hail to the glorious malamutes!
@puplover62 Yea, he's my buddy. I'm the only one he mouths like that and even when he's excited and wants to play rough he knows how gentle to be and not hurt with his teeth.
@lambadio Yea, we keep him stocked up on toys. When he was 6 months he liked to chew on the wooden furniture, but he was eay to break of that and since then hasn't chewed up anything he wasn't supposed to. Ally on the other hand loves to steal socks from the hamper...
@GorgeousBadCat I know what you're saying. He scares the crap out of people that are iffy around dogs and/or not used to him. He runs up to greet people just talking away and doesn't realize to the uninformed he looks like a big scary dog running after them growling. I'm really sorry to hear about your dog. I don't know how I'd deal with one of mine getting stolen. They're like my kids.
haha, we call this Playing Ghandi in our house. Mine will just sit down and become immovable if the spirit moves him to NOT do what we want him to. Glad we're not alone
My old siberian husky used to do that, in fact, he used to push me out of the bed at night onto the floor in his sleep. Loved that dog, getting another one soon.
I love watching malamutes on youtube because ive never seen another besides my own and omg the similarities in how they act and move just leave me in awe! Gives me hope that if I decide to get another in the future they can be half as cute as my amazing dog I have now :) Thanks for sharing with us! My Whiskey boy licks me like that when I rub on his face! I swear its like he FEELS the love. :P
@yenjeanne Hehe.....look at 1:32....he's a boy! LOL! Some of the doggie names are interchangeable...like Cody and Shadow which can be used for either sex.
Shiloh looks so comfy. Beatiful, gentle dog.

Additionally I never asked for the internet dog training police to give me any 'advice' on training my dog as it is unwanted and unnecessary.
li7in6 1 month ago
@li7in6 Well you title your video "why you should never own a malamute"... but whatever man. You got a great look dog.

Haha My Siberian Husky does this. When she decides to go to sleep and my wife will harass her for an hour and she will just ignore her completely. (What is this thing touching me? Maybe if I pretend to be asleep it will go away.)

My Malamute sleeps on the coach :D
TaichouSin 2 months ago
@TaichouSin The funny thing is Shiloh prefers to sleep in the living room because its cooler out there. We have a leather recliner that I don't find very comfortable and no one else seems to sit in it. It has turned into Shiloh's recliner and he loves sleeping in it.
li7in6 2 months ago
@li7in6 lol it's the same with us
TaichouSin 2 months ago
@buddyleex Yes I allow it, and I think its really cute. What exactly is the problem?
li7in6 2 months ago 2
@li7in6 It's fine if explicitly allowed but what I meant was when you are not around. If they remain on the bed, they think it's theirs and could cause problems if they already have a crate or bed of their own.
buddyleex 2 months ago
@buddyleex He has a very nice bed at the foot or ours that he actually sleeps on most of the time. He actually doesn't like sleeping in the bed when we do. He is also crate trained and will go to his crate on command. There are no problems with him napping on our bed and haven't been for 4 years
li7in6 2 months ago
@li7in6 the problem is the title is really misleading to the context of the video, maybe add like "jk" at the end or something but in my opinion when i first saw the title it put me off getting my malamute in the new year since i thought there was something really bad about it. but that was my opinion
FranksTankz 2 months ago
@FranksTankz ~70,000 people got the lighthearted nature of the video and its tongue in cheek title, only a handful are oblivious and feel the need to be presumptuous internet dog training police. I don't think the video is the problem.
li7in6 2 months ago
@li7in6
It's not that there's a problem. It's actually super cute as you said. But dogs, like the wolf. and especially the malamute which is very close to the wolf genetically, are pack animals. They have a social hierarchy and everything. Right he just thinks his the Alpha male, the owner, and you're the pet.
Xartaetos2007 2 months ago
@Xartaetos2007 Interesting how you can 'infer' what he 'thinks' based on this video. But I can assure you he knows I am the pack leader. If I actually told him to get off the bed he would, as you can see I'm petting him and playing with/teasing him.
li7in6 2 months ago
If I ever get a big dog like a malamute, maybe I just get a bigger bed. I'd love to snuggle up with a big dog in bed.

TriXx666 2 months ago
@TriXx666 Ally does the same thing. She's slept under the covers since she was a puppy and now will root her nose around until she gets under and curl up next to you. She loves sleeping right between me and my girlfriend.

wat kind of dog is ally?
1edefs3 2 months ago in playlist Favorites 2
@1edefs3 We're not sure, We think she's a mix of lab an corgie but she could be any number of things. She definitely has a corgie attitude and the long body and short legs. When she was a puppy we thought she was a lab but she stopped growing at about 4 months leaving us confused, looked just like a lab up til then. She has a ton of excess skin like she was meant to be a bigger dog but never grew into it. Whatever she is, we love her just the way she is.

Yep just as always malamutes are big soft pillow dogs
LindsayKatWindel 2 months ago
Yep reminds me of all the malamutes I've seen before big sweet softies. I live in Alaska, and they make for great family dogs but seem to be overly gentle. Thats why my friend pairs her big lovable malamute Normus with her distrusting hyperactive and overly protective little beagle. The beagle was trained to be highly suspicious of strangers, but also to calm down quickly once their owner gives a signal. If the beagle stays freaked out too long Normus starts getting upset and will chase and bite

@21stCenturyBoxProduc its a malamute
XoBleedingHeartoX 2 months ago
@XoBleedingHeartoX Huh. Interesting. Genetically, Huskies and Malamutes must be very close lol.
21stCenturyBoxProduc 2 months ago
@21stCenturyBoxProduc Huskies and Malamutes are similar at first glance but there are distinct differences. Most obvious is the size difference, The breed standard has malamutes at 25 to 45lbs more than the standard husky. Giant malamutes can get up around 160lbs. The markings, build proportions ,eyes, and head shape are also notably different if you know what you're looking at.
li7in6 2 months ago
@li7in6 Yeah, well, my Husky is far from standard. :P He's 100lbs, and looks quite similar to the malamute in the video. Although there are noticeable differences, eye color, eye shape, and a couple small things. The fur is almost identical though.
21stCenturyBoxProduc 2 months ago

@chemutu yes, he's my teddybear. He likes to crawl up and sleep above your head on the pillows in the morning. Bad thing is you end up with a face full of fur.
li7in6 2 months ago
I want a malmute because they look like serious business & are good guard dogs. The ones I find are always chill but wary.
JAZ1792 2 months ago
@JAZ1792 Dude, do some research. Malamutes are HORRIBLE GUARD DOGS.
koshatnik 2 months ago
@JAZ1792 They're really not good guard dogs. He's gentle and loveable with all people. He'd greet a burglar at the door with his tail wagging and a smile on his face. He might accidentally scare them off with his looks and talking 'growl' tho. Sure seems to scare the piss out of new guests when he gets really friendly and starts 'growling' at them. Would never mean anybody any harm tho, its just not in them.
li7in6 2 months ago
Oh gosh, Shiloh is gorgeous! He looks just like my boy, I swear! And as lazy and spoiled too! I can't believe he didn't move at all at the beginning of the video. LOL! Typical spoiled mal. Little Ally is so adorable, reminds me of my cousins' sweet little dog. I must say, I got misty at the end when you were petting him & putting your hand in his mouth-he didn't show any aggression and licked your hand at the end. My boy is like that too, sweet as honey. Hail to the glorious malamutes!
puplover62 2 months ago
@puplover62 Yea, he's my buddy. I'm the only one he mouths like that and even when he's excited and wants to play rough he knows how gentle to be and not hurt with his teeth.
