As it is, TKD has become overall a watered down sports version with a horrendous rate of McDojos and focus on point-sparring over effective combat. A TKD practicioner should be ashamed at the state the art is in due to its popularity watering it down.

@chappychap Let me tell you some history about TKD. It was created by a General, it was desigend to be for the military. The Korean Marines (ROKMC) were highly efficient in the Vietnam War, with a killing ratio of 23 to 1. The US Marines at that time didn't have any close combat training and were amazed at the martial arts skills of the Koreans and they were called . That was the starting point of a martial arts program in the US: The MCMAP (Marine Corps Martial Art Program) WAS inspired on TKD.
This is the only "decent" TKD fighter I found in youtube. Either it is really hard to master (since you have to be really precise, and know how to think quick), or there are too many idiots with black belts, or this is Korean propaganda. Or all of above.
Having practiced TKD for 10 years, and Muay Thai for a month, I can totally acknowledge the brutality of Muay Thai and its potential superiority. But TKD has some very powerful kicks and "tricks" to disorient the opponent, if used properly...
All you morons who say 'it's not the style it's the man' are idiots. Train identical twins for 5 years, 1 in TKD and 1 in MT and the MT twin will win a fight every single time.
Muay Thai has HUGE advantages in the ring against TKD. Everyone knows it and everyone should. It's very rare to see a TKD fighter even defeat a Muay thai fighter, but again, it all depends on the fighter and the environment. One fighter could be more passive and the other could be VERY aggressive. All depends. I <3 all fighting styles.
Everyone has their own set individual skill level in their art, that is why no style is better than another. All can be used in real life, and fighting situations when applied properly.

An experienced fighter no matter what style or system he is trained in will always have the bigger chance to win the fight. You can definitely see that the tkd fighter ist approved in using even complicated kick sequences in a fight and he is approved in a full contact fight something a usual tkd fighter is not used to.

Pure and simple. The muy thai guy may not have faced a TKD fighter before, or the TKD guy has faught many muy thai boxers and is somewhat able to read them.
they should make an experiment w/ a korean taek wondo Jin and a Thai Kick Boxer. Then let's see what's the better of the two discipline. This is such a lousy experiment. The Thai Boxer didn't even attacking and closing in to have a muay thai clinch...
The Muay Thai fighter did a good job of absorbing the energy of the last TKD kick by rolling and turning. It was a good kick but did not knock him out because he kept moving.
If this vid proves anything, it's that it's more about the fighter than it is the chosen art. On this day, the TKD guy won, not because TKD is better than MT, but because he was better than his opponent. It really comes down to skill, experience, preparation, things like that. Of course everyone has their preference of which art they like and that's fine. I'm a karate man myself, but if you're good you're good no matter what your chosen art. TKD guy had a strategy and he imposed his will.

This is the only "decent" TKD fighter I found in youtube. Either it is really hard to master (since you have to be really precise, and know how to think quick), or there are too many idiots with black belts, or this is Korean propaganda. Or all of above.
Having practiced TKD for 10 years, and Muay Thai for a month, I can totally acknowledge the brutality of Muay Thai and its potential superiority. But TKD has some very powerful kicks and "tricks" to disorient the opponent, if used properly...

Muay Thai has HUGE advantages in the ring against TKD. Everyone knows it and everyone should. It's very rare to see a TKD fighter even defeat a Muay thai fighter, but again, it all depends on the fighter and the environment. One fighter could be more passive and the other could be VERY aggressive. All depends. I <3 all fighting styles.

@kcronic808 how is TKD gay? Just because some panzys youve seen before who didnt know what they were doing and didnt have right technique doesnt make it a bad martial art. It isnt the art, its the fighter, my instructer has fought in many tournaments where any martial art can fight, he has beaten muay thai, kung fu, capoeira, kick boxers, and other TKD fighters, so just remember that its not the art, but the fighter.

Every art contains forms of grappling, and nothing in this world is unbeatable. Alot of the fucks you saw on the early UFC were rednecks. lolz. Yeah but there is also one other significant element and this is experience.
An experienced fighter no matter what style or system he is trained in will always have the bigger chance to win the fight. You can definitely see that the tkd fighter ist approved in using even complicated kick sequences in a fight and he is approved in a full contact fight something a usual tkd fighter is not used to.

I'm not advocating either style here since any experienced fighter will tell you that the fighting style is secondary to the experience of the fighter himself. The TKD guy here just fought better. Pure and simple. The muy thai guy may not have faced a TKD fighter before, or the TKD guy has faught many muy thai boxers and is somewhat able to read them.

The Muay Thai fighter did a good job of absorbing the energy of the last TKD kick by rolling and turning. It was a good kick but did not knock him out because he kept moving.

If this vid proves anything, it's that it's more about the fighter than it is the chosen art. On this day, the TKD guy won, not because TKD is better than MT, but because he was better than his opponent. It really comes down to skill, experience, preparation, things like that. Of course everyone has their preference of which art they like and that's fine. I'm a karate man myself, but if you're good you're good no matter what your chosen art. TKD guy had a strategy and he imposed his will.
