I think I like this Grumiaux recording over the Perlman recording. I think Grumiaux has a deeper sound, has better phrasing, but sounds less exciting because of the slower tempo. But the thing that's most remarkable is that Grumiaux plays less romantic, which makes it sound less cheap than Perlmans recording does. That one has just too much glisandi and such.
Edo de Waart (the newly appointed conductor of the Milwaukee Symphony) conducts the Concertgebouw Orchestra.
Philips SAL 3804; 839 757 LY is the catalog #. I think the recording is circa 1969-70. When the recording was released most interest focused on the Michael Haydn Concerto in A, then newly discovered and premiered by Grumiaux.
Too bad it gets cut off before the movement finishes! Thanks for posting! I love the expressive and romantic tempo fluctuations. Too often interpretations of Classical pieces are too sterile. This is very nice.
Thanks for recommending this. I like it very much. His style still seems to me very different to what I ever heard, and it is very expressive and very original. I put his Viotti at the same level as that of Oistrakh, that I heard before, and his Mozart seems to me even more striking.
ヴィオッティのヴァイオリン協奏曲は優雅にして完成度の高い素晴らしい作品です。
あまり知られていないからでしょうか、CDも数少ないです。これは残念なことですね。
もっと評価されていい協奏曲ではないでしょうか。
