  • This song rocks my socks! good music, good liyrics, That solo near the end just tops it off!

  • not only is it mind blowing this song didnt make the album...i feel like this would have made a successful single. no idea what management was thinking. they left half-ass songs like mix it up and daisy cutter on the album, yet left this off. imo this is the best song theyve put out post-soundsystem.

  • HOW DO YOU GET B-SIDE TRACKS?!

  • I just doesn't make sense why they would leave this off the album. It's by far one of the best songs they have written in years and they just 86'd it? It shows the level of disconnect they have right now from their roots

  • @drewsky684 Agreed, this song is way too good to be left aside! At least it has been published somehow! ... But still: What were they thinking, haha? :)

  • @drewsky684 must be a kitchen guy huh

  • Awesome music, gay lyrics. Get a room, S.A. and Nick.

  • jhazlem is a dude who got arrested at a 311 show for blowing his boyfriend who looks like burt reynolds....dont take a word he says for anyhing..he jumped on board with 311 after amber came out....fuck that pussy...

  • @bluefukingreene

dude didn't your therapist tell you to stop pinning your gay sex repressed memories on other people. i know you wish you were straight but your therapist told me for some reason you crave cock. but i'll leave that issue to you, your therapist, and any cock giver/receivers in the future. good luck with that

  • cant help but think that many years after 311 stops making music..someone will stumble upon a 311 album/track and think..these guys were so underated!

  • This song is AMAZING! So glad I found it - thanks for posting!!!

  • this should have been on the album

  • my new favorite song

  • I'm not really about the Bob Rock style, but it's cool, because he still lets them do their thing at least. This is a great track by one of the greatest!

  • 311! Please put this on the next DVD/CD that u make! Even if it wont b 4 years 2come. 1LOVE

  • WOW!!!!! ok how in the world is this song not on the Uplifter ablum!?!?! what an amzing song!!! LOVE IT!! thanks for posting this!

  • Sounds so great. Sounds sort of like the old 311, but also changed, in a good way.

  • Tim's solo in this song puts me in a trance!

  • Happy 311 day!!!!!!!!!!

  • Never ending summer should have been the first song onthe album followed by this one. Great song!

  • This song screams summer, maybe its just because I listened to it a ton during 2010's summer. Staying up until 1 or 2 AM, listening to this, hanging with friends.

Then getting up in the morning, and doing it all over again.

    Good times.

  • Why in the world isnt this song on uplifter... WHY

  • HOLY F*CKING SH*T!!!!!!!!!! this is soooooo f*ckin epicccccccccccccccccccccccc, i have been an avid dedicated fan since middle school, got a tat, but i am hearing this for the firdt time and holy f*vking sh*t i love it!!!!!!! these people make my heart sing with joy, omggg are you people listening to his??? after 2 minutes they drop the f*cking bomb on your ear drums and it is no exploding woith some sh*t that i cant even describe, omgggggg aahhhhh i love this band!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @donniedarkmeat You sound like you're as crazy a fan as I am! I also have a tat, and summer '09 will go down as the BEST ever, mostly cuz I had this album by my side! Yo, the new album is coming out this year, in june! Can you believe it!?!? SUMMER, NEVER ENDING SUMMER!! lol

  • I saw them play this on Halloween, it was too great! You can hear every album in just about all their shit, they're too great. Has any one band ever showed so much dedication to their fans and put out so fucking much amazing music? Everyone knows, 311 is the best band on the planet, probably in this arm of our galaxy. I've been on em since Soundsystem and I'm addicted for life.

  • man i love this song. its stuck in my head

  • I wish I could own this song!

  • Unreal that this isn't on the album...I've seen it live a few times..Totally kicks ass! Fuck Bob rock and Hexum for not letting this on album..

  • saw this in atlantic city the other night, just.. wow

  • @Three11Incubus right there with ya man!

  • this song is better than I would say about 4 tracks that are on there now.

I love 311 and there are some songs I think on this album are epic but this is one of the few albums where there's a few songs that I just don't care for.

  • see what happens when hexum allows mahoney to play real rock and tear up these solos??? god i would die for a hard rock, no cheesey shit love album from this band just one more time......

  • @cfresh44 Srsly..this is not a love song. It's about finding a way out of your mind when you're trapped in negative thought.

  • @SunSoar82 i agree.

    IT'S THE ONLY SONG FROM 311 i don't like!

  • @SunSoar82 never said this was a love song...i said i dont like the cheesey love music.....i love this song

  • @cfresh44 AGREED!

  • @cfresh44

well universal pulse is fuckin dope in my opinion, and i've been listening to 311 since 95. whats your take on it

  • the fuck, whe dont i have these!? i have this album

  • This song is classic 311. Notice how it has echos like they always used to do. Uplifter was lacking in echos.. im just saying it sounds cool

  • Producer Bob Rock delivers

  • @yoozernaym1 Tell that to Metallica fans.

  • I wish the boys would put out a B-Side collection....Im talking Juan Bond, Cali Soca, Seal the Deal, What Would You Do? etc...

  • @fatiger yesss sirrr!!!!!!!!!!

  • ye its about time they put out an album as good as there first and second

  • First time I heard this was at 3-11-10 in Vegas. It was great to hear live at the concert, but now that I hear the recording of it, I'm blown away. 311 never ceases to amaze me.

  • this is my new favorite 311 song!!

  • I hope the band releases b-side songs including this one

  • i think its funny that everyone complains that the song wasnt on the album. 311 always does b-sides and secondly with how accessible the internet is i can listen to this song whenever i want, so let me ask you all this who cares? 311 still wrote and performs this and it rocks! do your thing 311

  • @jamsesh12 so true man, i like that they do b sides like this. then you hear it later on and its new to you

  • 311 has been my favorite band for as long as i can remember and uplifter is bawlin. so different from other music, but still so fricken awesome. Actual music other than that Justin Bieber shit

  • amazing, amazing song. my favorite 311 since sometimes jacks rule the realm. the bridge gives me goosebumps....god i love this band.

  • How have I never heard this... This song is sick.

  • idk i own the bonus and this song is no where to be3 found

  • by far the best song from the album. Oh wait, it wasn't on the album...wtf?

  • If this was on Uplifter, it would have easily been the best song on there

  • i think 6 people missed the like button

  • yeah all the bonus songs were the best on the album

  • Comment removed

  • didn't know this song even existed till today

  • it almost feels like something off soundsystem but twisted and awsome

  • does anybody have a link to download this song and the other b-side tracks from Uplifter?

  • To those who don't know, it's obvious that 311 read David Icke books before writing Uplifter.

  • Great tune

  • This song totally utilizes 2 vocalists.

I love the overlapping parts in the chorus.

  • This song is classic 311. Who decided it should not be a track listing for Uplifter?

Hopefully they put out a Uplifter B side with has this song on it.

  • 311!!!

  • my first 311 day in las vegas... already cant wait for 311 day 2012....

  • that show was epic hopefully we get to see new Orleans in 2012

  • 5 stars! (and I'm picky) Haha.

Oh wait... YouTube changed... well two thumbs up then.

    ...Or one, whatever.

Fuck the ratings, this song is excellent!

    <3

  • Im thinking the cd track listing should have started with jackpot then this song.

  • I'm pretty sure he says

    "the fog has lifted

all came in focus AT ONCE

    such a gift"

just thought i'd give my two cents

  • Awesome song!! should have been on the CD!

  • ah nice day outside, il play this in my car with the top down

  • @chicagoelectricbicyc same here!

  • great song.. this one could be a single

  • So Amazing! To hear things like this live for 311 day! This is proof they love the fans! ( true fans) They haven't played Slinky live since '93!

  • They played this shit live for the first time @ 311day!

Sounded fucking awesome...it was a little awkward during the Tim's solo because Nick didn't play guitar live so it came off a little like "Use of Time" does live but still fucking sweet.

  • I'm so glad they played this one at 311 day

  • happy 311 day party people!!

  • Las Vegas in 3 Days. Happy 311 Day!

  • 311 messed up their track listing. this song should have been on the album. it reminds me of blue album combined with evolver.

  • I really think this deserves to be on the album its a quality tune

  • this is the best song but the hardest one to get! can i get it other than on amazon?

  • take it from youtube google youtube to mp3 converter and then you can take it from youtube

  • it came from a fucken automatic ass-kicking machine.

  • Holy shit, where did this song come from?

  • That would have been a great and sharp addition to the Uplifter collection.

  • B side? more like...would've been the best song on the album if they had put it on there. Bob Rock makes me scratch my head alot

  • Mahoney!

  • could've been the best song on album, ridiculous that it isn't on the cd.

  • agreed i heard this on 311 day and dont understand this would have been a better single over Hey You

  • @aiucard28 blame Bob Rock who probably thought this song wouldnt appeal to mainstream poprock audience and not the 311 fans

  • @equallyeasilyfuqyou Well said. Uplifter was weak (this is coming from quite possibly the biggest 311 fan in the world).

  • @BubbleBuddy25 - I have been a rabid fan since 311-311 (and discovered their ridiculously good early stuff after I fell in love with 311 - 311), and I think this album is a true return to form for the greatest band of all time. They kind of lost me a little after Soundsystem... Every time a new record came out I'd be really excited, then listen to it for a month and still be excited, then forget about it. It's been a year and I still can't stop listening to this album. Many great songs.

  • @equallyeasilyfuqyou ditto for "Get Down."

  • lyricsally explosive..just like 311

  • @haloMountAnd311 i agree to an extent but i did not like evolver as a album but it does have some cool songs. i think uplifter is a great album, lots of rapping....which was a pleasant surprise

  • they have never had one specific sound because each song is different. im not trying to be insulting but you sound like each person that has had a favorite band for a while and when their new stuff comes out you dont like it because this terrific music didnt just randomly hit your skull like the first song you ever heard. this had been expected by you and now that its here your not as thrilled because you knew it was on its way. kind of like knowing an xmas gift before you actually get it.

  • @nitehawk32 He's completely true.. I only knew the song "Hey You" by this band before listening to the rest of their music, well this album mostly. I didn't know what to think of it at first, but it really is good music.

  • Really we cannot agree on that because many people feel that there latest album has been a big return to their essence

  • chops are sick on blue... and evolver is def the best of the last 3 with tran being the high water mark. but this particular song is the best thing they have done since track one in 2005.

  • aweosme song love it :)

  • Ok, why in the hell did this song and "How Long Has It Been" not make the album. IMO Hey You could've been replaced with either. But other than that, this album rocked! Thanks 311

  • Great song!

  • you must be young

  • @safetyskater disappointong my balls man

    this is an excelent album

the fact is that is in a new style but without losing 311 style

if you listen all their albums

    every album is different

so dont come with this bullshit man

    period

  • hey man.... 311 is still a kick ass band dont get me wrong, but im just not diggin this album.. not one of my favorites.. thats all im tryin to say.. sorry about bein so harsh

  • wow this is really badass

  • could be the best 311 sond ever and i've been down sine the early 90's

  • Comment removed

  • incubus' last album is so great. Nor can you compare the two. They just happened to be our favorite two bands when we were a little younger.

  • @dsleeperhold fuuuuck man jaja incubus and 311 are my fav bands, too

    :P

    both are exelent :P

  • I fucking love this song 311 can do me right netime vegas 311 day baby! wahhh

  • On the plus side, they will NEVER EVER be as horrible and whiny as Incubus has become- at least 311 is still recognizable as 311.

  • That i will agree to. As far as Uplifter being better than DTOM, i don't know if i could say the same. Just to be safe, i am not defending Tred. However, uplifter is a change of pace of what 311 is known for, but that'll happen to any band. I think the flow of lyrics were smoother on Tred, at least for what i am used to. 311 has earned the right to play whatever they want, I'll still listen to it, but when it comes to deciding which of their albums to listen to, this'll prob be my last choice.

  • Dude, how could you even think about comparing ANY 311 CD? Everyone of their songs, albums, everything is just pure amazing.

  • Because even though they're my favorite band, I still have the right to be opinionated about thier music. That's my right as a fan; not to blindly say that all the songs/albums they produce are amazing, that's just rediculous and that is not who i am. I personally don't like the new album as a whole. I became a fan in the early 90's so that's the style of thiers I've become accustomed to. That said, there are a few tracks that are good on the new album that I do like, but not all. Long live 311

  • True, I can understand where your coming from because I didnt hear about them until a few years ago so i can definately understand what your sayin

  • After about 10 listens, I can safely say that Uplifter is better than DOTM. As to overall quality, yeah, pinto... but then you have this song, There's Always an Excuse, Sometimes Jacks Rule the Realm, How Do You Feel. They can DO it, but I feel like there are a lot of record pressures now. And yeah, from Soundsystem on, the energy is really despairing i.e. Seal the Deal, Eons, Can't Fade Me, Time is Precious. 311 had anidentity crisis after '99. RHCP adjusted to their age, i hope 311 can do it.

  • Oh, and Get Down is another undeniably good song.

  • jigga what

  • dtom. hehehe

  • this would've been the best song on the album

  • Do these guys worship the sun?

  • So stoked for 311 Day!!!!!

  • they better play this on 311 day 2010

  • 311 day in VEGAS!!!!i'm fuckin' THERE!!!

  • Lyrical genius as usual from the omaha boys.

  • uplifter isn't their best album, but still very very good. waaaaaaay better than dont tread on me. a very long 4 year wait

  • 311 will never do another blue or transistor album. they are moving towards arena rock. its still dam good. they are a very under rated band.

  • I think, more than anything, they are leaving a very played-out "rap-rock" scene that they helped create and subsequent bands (i.e. Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, etc.) helped bury. It's one thing when you're 24 and throwin' out rhymes about 'shrooms and pot, quite another when you're pushing 40. 311 would have sounded VERY forced (and just trying to rehash) if they stuck to the incredibly popular rap-rock thing they did in the past. I personally think Uplifter is a great comeback.

  • you nailed it.

  • I'll agree with that. However, the fact that they've produced a meriad of other albums that don't have the energy that came with the likes of Music and Grassroots and Blue (i.e Evolver, From Chaos, Sound System), and a huge amount of tracks on even those heavier albums that don't have the same amped nature as others (most tracks on Transistor).

  • I honestly think it's just getting difficult for them to produce the same as they did in the past. It is most definitley a time where it is difficult to come up with anything original. However, their creativity is still strong, but this album is not demonstritive of what they can do. Case-in-point is this song and the two bonus tracks at the end of their greatest hits disc. I expected better from this album, but what can you do.

  • Bye the way 311 has been making love songs since the beginning. Do you not remember "Slinky Girl"?

  • You are all idiots!! 311 is a ever evolving band. that's what makes them so unique. That's what brings people in to there sound, the fact that they sound like no one else. UPLIFTER WAS INCREDIBLE!!

  • for there next album they should go back to the blue album era and more stuff like from transistor :) that would be sick

  • this album in my opinion is not as good as the old shit but i still like it. jackpot and something out of nothing were amazing live

  • im a big 311 fan....but does anyone think uplifter was a little dissapointing.

  • absolutely. I love them and the music but I wish they would quit making love songs and bring back some of the old rocknroll they had. Just my opinion.

  • yes this song is classic 311. The album uplifter is awsome but the track listing is terrible.

I would have started with never ending summer as track one and this one right after as track two.

  • " it might have been the best song on the whole album."

WORD!!!!!!!!!!!!! this song is fking great!!!! ..... i just can´t stop hearing it!! ( well to be honest i can´t stop hearing 311 at all!! )

  • The guitar solo is siiiiick

  • transistor was way ahead of its time. great album.

uplifter is really good too but their tracklisting is all out of wack. this song should have made the album. hey you should have been nixed

  • 311 is for everyone, but I find the majority of fans are in their 20's, usually later 20's. I'm 27 and 311's "blue" album - which first took them into mainstream success - was released when I was 13.

    Crap, I feel old.

  • your dead on here. im only 20, but id say the majority of there true fanbase is the 25-30 crowd. like you said, 311 reached there mainstream peak from around 1996-1999, so you have to put it in perspective. theyve still managed to grow a huge teen following over the years..mostly from there live shows...and amber and love song haha.

  • I went to college in the late 1990's, and you have no idea just how big they hit during that time period (along with RATM). They were everywhere! Unfortunately, many followers tried to replicate their sound and killed the scene as a whole. Besides, the boys grew up, you know? I haven't been to a show lately, but I doubt they can replicate the massive energy swell their crowds had back in the 90's. Still stoked that their around (and respected) , though. Says a lot about them

  • yeah im 20, i started listening to them when i was 6 and fuckin loved them ever since, best band there ever will be

  • nerd

  • haha what up dude, been toking?

  • yes what about you

  • yeah man, 2 or 3 blunts a day

  • hell yeah

  • Couldn't agree with you more on this one. I was actually thinking about this recently. I am 28, first heard "Down" when I was 15 years old (Sophomore year - September/October 1996 - even though the album had been out for a while by then). I was at work the other day listening to "Uplifter" on my iPod when a 19-year-old co-worker asked me who I was listening to. Upon saying "311," I was greeted with a blank stare. "I have no idea who that is." The whole thing made me kind of proud.

  • yea man, happens to me all the time.

  • 311 a teenage band??hahaha. the live shows ive been to in the last 4 years it seemed most people in the crowd are post college age.

  • depending where you are and what time it is...all depends...ive seen them with mostly adults...mostly kids...different shows...times...locations...draws diff kinds of crowds...been going to their shows for past 15 years...i know.

  • Why the hell wasn't this on the album!? Great song.......

  • Just heard this today, wtf why wasn't it on deluxe version. Makes you hope for an all unreleased album. Great song, Best Band. Live show # 9 this fall go if you haven't!

  • whoever said tht 311 is not a teenage band is so wrong...311 is for everyone becuase they have such a unique and diverse music style that no matter what genre u are looking for 311 has wrote at least one song on it and they play the song rele fucking good

  • the problem with 311 is that they are so diverse and therefore create different kinds of fans. i mean the hardcore ones will love it all mostly, but theres people that only like the softer stuff... then theres ones that only like the earlier heavy stuff. theres hardly anyone in between :/

i for one love just about everything theyve done. DTOM is the sore thumb of their catalogue but everything else is great (esp. Uplifter).

  • interesting

  • its definitely not a band for teenagers bud...its meant for later 20's and up

  • Aton of my friends and people at my school love them

  • they got good taste then!

  • i used to be a heavy weed smoker...but recently quit...this song speaks to me in that way

  • This is my favorite song from Uplifter! I can't believe they didn't even include it on the deluxe edition! Amazon, touche. Just check out the beautiful lyrics as you listen: Running the ship on an ego Shutting the mind and closed out People would ask where did he go As the boat sunk down Lyin' to yourself it's so tragic You become a wreck in slow mo Breaking it down 'til you're all alone I'm in the center of a labyrinth I feel lost I feel imprisoned Tell me there's an end I need some oxygen...
  • The people who bought this from Amazon got lucky. The iTunes song sucks hard.

  • what do you mean?

  • Can we stop the pissing contest, please?

I consider myself to be a very educated and dedicated fan of 311, and I did not have any idea who they were until my sophomore year of high school when "Down" was ripping up the charts. If you knew about them before that time, it does not make you a "bigger" fan, but rather a "luckier" fan.

Let's give it up. They've been doing this for 19 years now, and not once has this band disappointed me. As fans we should be grateful.

  • This song's bridge is amazing!!!

I could've sworn I've heard it before, though... Weird.

Uplifter has the best B-Sides since the Blue ALbum. Wow.

  • the first time i heard the bridge, i thought of Van Halen.

what song i could'nt tell you.
