  • LOL...the guy jumping into the ship towards the end of the clip is the same footage/animation of Speed Racer jumping into his Mach 5...;)

  • I really miss this old show

  • the theme sums up the show...

  • can u put lyrics in description

  • they need to remake this like they did with thundercats

  • Since Syfy no longer has anime, I have to know, did they ever reach Iscandar?

  • @hulkmeister23 Yes they did and they saved Earth!

  • @Wildstar100 did it explain why Starsha decided to help earth in the first place.

  • @hulkmeister23 Yes she did. I won't spoil it, you can watch the entire saga of StarBlazers on Youtube just make sure its the remastered version.

  • @Wildstar100 Where on Youtube? If I could find it on here or anywhere for that matter, then I wouldn't be asking you for details.

  • @hulkmeister23 its also on netflix

  • yamato is little compare to the comet empire

  • Queen Starsha frightens me she just projects her face her mouth dont move when she talks, its not normal and she is just this disambodied head stareing like some evil god at its subjects ready to strike. thats what I think though is only starsha would move her face and mouth it would be less creepy

  • WTF!!!!!////suddenly feeling excited like 6years old...hahahhaha

  • how can there be smoke in space?

  • omg....in the afternoons after school!

  • Iskandar is the Indian name for ALexander the Great...interesting...I knew that salvation will come from the Greeks.

  • I've always thought this was a really good English reinterpretation of the Space Battleship Yamato theme song. It gets all the key points just right, and sounds very nice. Impressive for late-70s dubbing.

  • Watched this last night. This theme is pretty awesome.

  • SYFY will be airing them 0200 PST (west coast) on fridays after Chrono Adventure.

  • Hurry StarForce! There is only 1 day left, before you re-air! Stay tuned this Friday at 2AM (East Coast) on SyFy!

  • I used to watch this as soon as I came home from school religiously. Man that was so long ago.

  • Star Blazers premiers on Cartoon Network April 21st @ midnight!!!

  • @gregvader It's gonna be on SyFy, not Cartoon Network

  • @TheMetaMoss

    Oops!

  • Why do people get so bent outta shape about a tv show having a different name in another country? When I was stationed in the UK, they had GI Joe, but it was called Strike Force, when I was in Germany they had The Simpsons voiced over in German, so phuqqing what?

  • i remember back when this was on i'd watch it every day. i even got into building model battleships just so i could have my own "starblazers" toy. and now i am so thrilled that syfy is going to have it on starting april 19 (at midnight edt).

  • One of my favorite "cartoons" at the time growing up since i had no bloody idea what anime was. Wish i could remember the anime that was on right after it. Loved that one, too.

  • @thisranks13 Gatchaman aka Battle of the Planets perhaps?.

  • Seeing this stuff In realistic, non-wobbly CGI on Ressurection 2009 Just didnt feel right

  • Seeing this stuff In realistic, non-wobbly CGI Just didnt feel right

  • 2 Gamelons disliked this!

  • Did I see Maetel from Galaxy Express 999 in there somewhere? I know it's not her. Both shows were made by Leiji Matsumoto, tho.

  • Looking back, though I watched this show every day as a kid, it's so ridiculous. A seaworthy ship that goes into outer space? Even though the show is set in Japan (even when they showed the globe, it was ALWAYS centered on the western edge of the Pacific Ocean), virtually ALL the earth people are white, except for the bumbling and markedly shorter Dr Moto (internalized racism? probably).

  • I never saw English version but Wow it looks weird in English...

  • man, I was ADDICTED to star blazers when I was a kid - today's cartoons cannot touch this stuff...

  • @juvserr What if it's a continuation of Star Blazers?

    v=Yv9bzR8uH_0

  • IMO, as far as English dubs went in the 70's, this intro was excellent and was faithful to the original. What they did to the show itself was another story (I've seen the original), but this English opening was well done and the first 20 seconds is epic.

  • Pretty cool seeing this again after 30 years. I loved this show when I was a kid.

  • ...This sounds like a mix of Star Trek and Gilligan's Island.

  • Love the song ,, inspired me to do 20 years in the Air Force and serve my country. Protect what you love.

  • @MrOldwarhorse Funny, this and Robotech did the same for me.

  • NEWS FLASH! THere is going to be a Live action movie out in Japan in December!!

search Star blazers movie 2010. LOOKS REALLY GOOD!

  • I'm gonna perfectly honest here. The english version's got nothing on the original Japanese version. no offence to those who prefer this version.

  • They need to make a full feature film on this...

  • @MrBargill they have made one not anime it's only in japan at the moment though look copy this>>SPACE BATTLESHIP ヤマト 予告編 宮川泰版<< and paste into your search engine

  • English version sounds great. I can't pick up all of words but it is GOOD. I like this.

  • We're off to outer space.. We're leaving Mother Earth.. To save the human race.. Our Star Blazers!.. Searching for a distant star.. Heading off to Iskandar.. Leaving all we love behind.. Who knows what dangers we'll find.. We must be strong and brave.. Our home we've got to save.. If we don't in just one year.. Mother Earth will disappear!.. Fighting with the Gamelons.. We won't stop until we've won.. Then we'll return and when we arrive.. The Earth will survive.. With our Star Blazers!
  • The english lyrics are ok if you just pute the YA-MA-TO! back in. the "star-blazers"is 1 syllable too many for the theme... Better yet, do what galaxy railways did and just have an instrumental!

  • epic

  • I used to watch this cartoon religiously before school. I miss the cartoons of yesteryear. :)

  • omg why can't people put the series on youtube in this quality? i can't make out shit on the series that are on here

  • I must have had a deprived childhood- never watched this or any other anime until we got Sci-Fi Channel years later and I discovered 'Saturday Anime'

  • Try finding a show like this these days, I bet you you won't find much.

  • *Stands and Salutes the Original Mecha Anime that started the Wave of robotic anime*

  • @wgw214

I'd recommended saluting to either Tetsujin 28 (Gigantor) or Mazinger Z since this isn't a mecha anime.

UNLESS you were saluting to [insert early/awesome mecha animu here] and I was just too lazy to search to see what you were replying to. If so, I'm sorry.

  • I brought the whole 3 volume set at a JB hi-fi for about $80 and its like.. 17 discs long or something all up. SO amazing :)

  • hmm this reminds me of the Jews In Space sketch from History Of The World Pt. 1

  • OMG I used to love this damn cartoon when I was like 7 ( 1982 ) I want the complete seasons on DVD.

  • i used to play hookie from school to watch this show.

  • THANKS FOR THE POST!!!

  • Datz Geakin-Tastic LOL!!! I'm Gonna show dis 2 my 2 sisters they use 2 fight over who was Nova because one of the other kids who attended church pretended he was Wild Star or Venture who ever wound up with Nova, ROFL!!! Back in the day! I wanna say this aired in Chicago like between '78 - '79 on WGN channel 9 at 0630 AM THANX 4 THE MEMORIES!!!

  • If someone has an english rylic of this song, post pleaseㅠㅠ

  • one of my all time favorite anime. I use to get up early in the morning before school to watch this at 6 am back in the early 1980's.

  • 2009 Star Blazers Rebirth ver.

    watch?v=8llG4Y1ca0U

    watch?v=ng7Bvj1ime8

  • Brings back some very warm memories, especially of the young woman I knew who was my Nova!

  • I remember when my dad showed me this show. He has it on VCR and I was singing it at lunch the other day and my friend looked at me like..."WTF?" it was hilarious

  • Fond memories of my childhood shall never be replaced this theme is simply the best ever.

  • This and Battle of the Planets (G-Force) were the best cartoon's of my childhood, hands down. Didn't know about the movie. Oh and Danger Mouse. Maybe Hong Kong Phooy as well ;

  • dont forget all of sid and marty crofts creations too.

  • @spadehatesscrewtube Hell yeah, The Banana Splits, Land of the Lost, HR Pufnstuf...all great memories.

  • i agree :D

  • Very Catchy little theme.

  • Yes! The live action of "Battleship Yamato" (Star Blazers) will be in theaters at the end of the year (made in Japan, even though Di$ney has held the rights to produce the film for years).

  • Ok that's it, I'm doing a cover version LOL.

  • I loved that even before they made the comet empire movie and series they were already sayin that this was the first part. talk about damn good foresight on matsumotos part

  • This has to be the catchiest English theme of that time and I love how similar it is to the original

  • I remember this show, used to watch it right after I got home from Church.

  • Awesomest. Cartoon. EVER.

  • LOL

  • : I love you nova, don't worry, don't worry, don't worry: lol

  • What episode is that line from??? I can't remember?

    : I love you nova, don't worry, don't worry, don't worry: lol

  • I think it was the episode when they are captured by the 'bee people', and I.Q.-9 had a crush on Nova, lol. He kept saying "I'll protect you nova, don't worry..don't worry..don't worry..." I wonder if Nova and I.Q hooked up or not? Their kid would be an interesting sight.

  • those are some voltron lookin mofos

  • the DVD's are expensive

  • They are--even on sale they're $90 a season. I would love to own them, though.

  • I bought all 3 seasons on VHS 10 years ago for $550.00 lol. I agree, they're ridiculously expensive. I also have two rare episodes I happen to bump into about a year ago, and I recorded them onto DVD. Same voiceovers, too. Lucky me. Love the first two seasons, by the way. At the time, it was the best japanese cartoon money maker in history.

  • Hell Yeah

  • The English lyrics are very precise translations of the original Japanese lyrics.

  • my whole family can sing this song, isn't that sad

  • It's been so long! I got goosebumps hearing that theme song again. I've been fighting with Gamillions my whole life. WE MUST BE STRONG AND BRAVE!

  • Wildstar! Wowwee! This was on a kiddies' Afternoon and saturday morning show, "The Checkers and Pogo show" during the 70's in Hawai'i!

  • HOLY CRAP!!! brings back memories or late 70's.. I love to see Boomerang or Cartoon Network air this masterpiece!

  • Yep, starblazers and boomerang were on. I never got into boomerang much, but starblazers, superfriends v.s. legion of doom, and bugsbunny/roadrunner show were my favs. I have a whole room in my basement filled with nothing but Starwars, Starblazers, and Superfriends stuff. "gotta have it"

  • Space Battleship Yamato not the Space Cruiser Argo

  • @airforcemax

Keeping a legendary Japanese battleship name in a cartoon was not going to happen in the 70's.

  • @tufflegruff - I agree since some people still had Anti-Japanese sentiment because of the attack at Pearl Harbor and interestingly Americans forget the forced Japanese-American signed by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

  • That is awesome!! I haven't seen that since I was 12 and that was a LOONNGG time ago. This had to be one the coolest most violent cartoons ever!

  • I cannot believe this was on here! lol

  • After all will it be influence of ,WW2 that a name of Yamato was changed of to Star Blazers?

  • To cater to perceptions of what westerners would accept, changes were made. Now, people are more willing to enjoy the anime' as originally created.

  • I grew up viewing Star Blazers. Now I enjoy viewing the original Japanese versions too.

  • Right on. I think I have almost every episode memorized.

  • I find Japanese version > English version ...

  • This was my favorite cartoon growing up.

When asked the question from people " what was your favorite cartoon growing up ?" I could only remember A FLYING BATTLESHIP in SPACE... And my friends looked at me as if I were CRAZY.... Thank you, for posting this it has cleared up many years of frustration not remembering the shows name. your awsome.

  • i miss this show sooo long time since i was little boy .. i wonder about them... i wish i want watch them again ...

  • you wish you COULD watch them again. hehe

sorry, my foreign friends always ask me to help them by correcting their English :)

the episodes are available for purchase, i'm sure you can find them on an internet store or a site like Ebay and such.
