I've always thought this was a really good English reinterpretation of the Space Battleship Yamato theme song. It gets all the key points just right, and sounds very nice. Impressive for late-70s dubbing.

Looking back, though I watched this show every day as a kid, it's so ridiculous. A seaworthy ship that goes into outer space? Even though the show is set in Japan (even when they showed the globe, it was ALWAYS centered on the western edge of the Pacific Ocean), virtually ALL the earth people are white, except for the bumbling and markedly shorter Dr Moto (internalized racism? probably).

IMO, as far as English dubs went in the 70's, this intro was excellent and was faithful to the original. What they did to the show itself was another story (I've seen the original), but this English opening was well done and the first 20 seconds is epic.

I bought all 3 seasons on VHS 10 years ago for $550.00 lol. I agree, they're ridiculously expensive. I also have two rare episodes I happen to bump into about a year ago, and I recorded them onto DVD. Same voiceovers, too. Lucky me. Love the first two seasons, by the way. At the time, it was the best japanese cartoon money maker in history.

Yep, starblazers and boomerang were on. I never got into boomerang much, but starblazers, superfriends v.s. legion of doom, and bugsbunny/roadrunner show were my favs. I have a whole room in my basement filled with nothing but Starwars, Starblazers, and Superfriends stuff. "gotta have it"
