  • A great review. Seeing your video I went out and ordered a Bixler ARF, a Zippy 2200, 6x4 prop etc. What economical charger do you recommend for the 2200 that I can order from HK?

  • @Sura109 thats great, I'm glad I could help and I'm sure you'll love the Bixler, I use an iMax B6 charger, I'm sure there are better chargers but thats what I use cos it was cheap :-)

  • Hi! How much the wing spar dimensions? I would like replace the original for an stronger.

    Thx.

  • @Gembird75 Sorry I cant remember the size of it, however you wont break the standard one! it is more than strong enough

  • @Gembird75 not sure off the top of my head, check out the forum at RCGroups searck Bixler Build, there are loads of tips there

  • What does the ubec do? Out of interest.

  • @alexhydea it provides the voltage to the receiver, this is normally done ry the esc but when the esc's fail they stop sending power to the RX so an external BEC allows you to at least glide to a decent landing.

  • Can you buy the 'Bixler' in the UK?

  • @mayhem001boats not that I know of :-(

  • also with FPV- is it best to get an external BEC, if extra servos are used for panning/tilting the cam? I have 2200maH 3 cell lipos already or I have 4000mAH 4 cells- what would you recommend using- or i could possibly put two 3S 1800mAh or two 2200mah lipos in parallel..?

  • @justinspirational as for batteries, with the plane as stock a 2800mAh battery will give you 45 mins! when you use a bigger motor and add a GoPro camera and extra weight this will drop to about 25 mins ish. I use a 2800mAh 3S battery for the motor power and RC gear, and a 1000mAh 3S battery for the Video gear.

  • @herishidesigns thanks mate- if I were to get a pan/tilt caera (which may use extra channels in the RX) will I need an external BEC? is the more powerful motor necessary for FPV flights if it generally shortens the flight times ? ie. is the stock motor not powerful enough to fly properly with the added FPV gear's weight?

  • @justinspirational I wouldnt worry too much about pan / tilt cam mount atm, but an external bec is a great idea, they are worth their weight in gold, if you ESC fails at least youll have some control. I would recommend keeping the motor power seperate from the video power, if there is a fault on the video cct at least you can still fly and land then. if your ESC and motor can handle it try the 4S for motor power and the 3S 1800mah for the video.

  • @justinspirational 1800mAh is overkill so it might be best to get something smaller 1000mah or less as it will not weigh as much.

  • @justinspirational Deffo get the external BEC! they are a life saver. I would have a separate battery for the video to the motor power, that way if there is a fault on the Video cct you can still fly the plane.

  • @justinspirational deffo get the external BEC I would recommend using separate batteries for the video and Motor, the video battery I use is a 1000mAh 3S if your motor and ESC can take a 4S then go for it.

  • thanks for your videos- I"m aspiring to start in FPV - and I've chosen the Bixer as my first platform for it - planning on getting an OSD with return to home, pan/tilt live feed cam, undecided on Video TX/RX- either 900Mhz or 5.8GHz (running 2.4Ghz RC radio gear)..- after all your experience - would you suggest getting the ARF version (with stock motor/prop etc) or would you get the kit and if so, what would be the optimum motor, ESC, battery, prop combo to maximize flight times?

  • @justinspirational hi there, I can tell you have been doing you homework, you are asking all the right questions. search on RCgroups forum for Rembizis "poor mans osd" its not that cheap but it is excellent. I use 2.4 video and control gear, just remember to turn on the video gear first then the control gear will automatically pick a free channel. I buy the ARF kit, Its not much more expensive. However I also swapped out the stock motor for a 3850Kv one and use a 6x4E triple blade prop.

  • Comment removed

  • Looks like the multiplex Easystar except it's way cheaper than the easystar!

  • cool but you gotta be careful because there is no room for cushioning in the nose of the fuse.

  • @youronlycow check out my bixler aftermath video you can see a banana battery from the impact of a crash

  • Also, why on earth drag such a heavy battery around? That is a complete waste of time as it is massively increasing the wing loading and inertia.

  • @BigDuke6ixx I guess you're talking about the 5200? it still flys fine with it in so I guess the reason is it massively increases the flight time.

  • Also, the GoPro in that position if adding a large amount of drag. Why not put it in the cockpit?

  • @BigDuke6ixx I mounted the FPV cam in the cockpit so there was no space

  • Pollyfilla would fill that whole in the fuse quite nicely.

  • Sorry I mean where can i buy a 6 by 5.5 prop?

  • @alexhydea Hi I got mine from eBay

  • Do you no where i can buy a 6x4 prop? please reply

  • @alexhydea check out hobbyking

  • @superrcflier yep they have a ton of props, the website isnt that easy to navigate and ebay may be quicker

  • @tenrazo215 if your gonna attach a cam then you might find a tripple blade prop gives less vibration.

  • @tenrazo215 if you use a bigger motor then you ill need to mount the esc externally and remove the foam around the motor, otherwise all should be fine :-)

  • the motor was from eBay but HK do sell different motors, however if you go over the 2000Kv rating you will need a Beefy ESC and probably have to fit it on the outside to cool it.

If you use one of the links in the description of the bixler review to get your bixler you will get a discount and I get a referral bonus. :-)

  • @tenrazo215 it does fly with the stock motor and a 6x4 triple prop, but I changed to a 3850Kv motor

  • I tried 5x8 5.5x5.5 6x4 6x5 7x4 and the 6x4 triple blade, the triple was a lot better than the rest

  • @herishidesigns How heavy was it in total?

  • You want to try 6x5e. The best outcome that I tried so far with props.

  • If you want a laugh turn on CC (subtitles) and select transcribe audio :-) I believe youtube need to do some work on this!

  • @herishidesigns yea the wind in kansas? holy molly

    lmao
