i'll never forget how i first discovered this amazing woman. i was listening to yolanda adams a few years ago and i said "yolanda's the queen of gospel" and my aunt said "nahh that title belongs to mahalia jackson" and i was like "who is that?" my aunt quickly played one of her songs for me and i was speechless! 2 mins later i went on iTunes and bought one of her greatest hits albums. i still listen to it very frequently
When I was young, my Mother played piano and sang in the living room while my three sisters and I went to sleep in our rooms upstairs. She sang this song nearly every night .I grew up listening to Mahalia Jackson and it really is a wonderful thing that modern media can introduce her to people that otherwise may have never heard what must truly be one of the greatest voices of the last century.

I like the similar, but not quite the same, popular recording she released of this better than this recording. But I don't know where to get the sheet music. I'm afraid that she just used a pianist and organist who ad libbed using chord symbols, so such a version may not exist. Anybody know where I can get it, send me a email. Even just the chords would be better than nothing. Thanks.
I don't know if you have found your sheet music for this song, but you will find it in any hymn book at most churches. Or find a gospel record shop and you will find it there.
I didn't mean just a hymnal version or any version, I meant the arrangement I described. i.e. the chord symbols of that arrangement, not just any version. I suspect that none exists, as she just worked it out with the accompanists and never published it.

I like the similar, but not quite the same, popular recording she released of this better than this recording. But I don't know where to get the sheet music. I'm afraid that she just used a pianist and organist who ad libbed using chord symbols, so such a version may not exist. Anybody know where I can get it, send me a email. Even just the chords would be better than nothing. Thanks.

I don't know if you have found your sheet music for this song, but you will find it in any hymn book at most churches. Or find a gospel record shop and you will find it there.

I didn't mean just a hymnal version or any version, I meant the arrangement I described. i.e. the chord symbols of that arrangement, not just any version. I suspect that none exists, as she just worked it out with the accompanists and never published it.
