Every department has different terms. In Los Angeles, the LAFD (L.A. City FD) calls their ambulances "rescues" or "RA's" (rescue ambulance). L.A. County FD calls their medic units "squads" (small utility truck ala Squad 51 from the TV series Emergency!). LAFD calls their Hazmat units "squads". L.A. City and County FD's both call their heavy rescue units "USAR's" ex: USAR 27 (Urban Search And Rescue). FDNY's squads are basically like rescue engines.
these are not ambulance ..and not a rescue...thse are hospitals on wheels...bt the way they have less than 5 minutes to get the scene...if the do more than 5 minutes..they are in trouble...to many sue...for that reason they don't care if obama motorcade is coming trought...they have the right of way ALWAYS
rescue911 the diference betwen and ambulance and a rescue truck is big...ambulance is just to transport...and the rescue is a hole hospital on wheels..they can make a surgery in one of these trucks
Are those FL Freightliners just as unreliable as they are in Australia? There are a few FL80 fire pumpers here but have proven to be absolute pieces of junk.
Uggh ya it's called the opticom system it turns the lights green to red or when it's at a station the lights flash amber when they respond it turns red
@KotyGalaxy Yeah. I used to live in Jupiter. All the ambulances in Florida are called rescues. The trucks containing extraction gear are called heavy rescues. It's a little confusing.
@jazzbutterworth Ya in Arizona, the ambo's are called rescues as well, and most of the engines/ladders carry extraction stuff etc. But there are a couple departments that have "squads" that are basically a FDNY Rescue 1 they can do it all.... Its some new system that is sticking in certain spots I guess.
@wwwrescue911de yeah buddy, in florida the stations run both fire and medical so most stations have an ambulance (rescue) at the fire house or a rescue nearby a fire dept
lol yes its a one way street it, most of downtown Miami are one way streets. cutting that half block saves 2 min when traveling north on NE 1st Avenue

that was a dump road design. why not cut the curb in frront of the fire house so they dont have to go into opposing traffic to make a right turn.
