  • Hey, this melody in the beginning (a-----, b, c, a, e, f, g----...) is the theme of Purcell's in nomine for 7 viols (dorian)! Some one knows if it is some early catholic /anglican chant/canto fermo?

  • Thanks for this.I've "favourited" it to play on a warm summer evening along with the Lawes suite popularised by Bream&Williams(if we ever get one).Biographical note also.-It's fascinating that in those times,musicians of"lowly" parentage could achieve eminence.
