power is not everything. i would like to see that mustang and camaro etc etc against a lotus elise or exige of 200 hp. however, great cars the americans, being honest.
@txopenjauer You can't compare Lotus cars because they are much harder to live with; less comfortable, less practical, much smaller, much lower and much more expensive. most of them cost over twice as much as the V8 muscle cars. Still, the Lotus Evora with 280 hp is 0.3 of a second quicker than a Mustang GT and 1.2 seconds quicker than a Camaro SS on VIR as tested by Car and Driver which would be a driver's race. that's very impressive handling considering their convenience, DD ability and cost.
@TheAmericanAutos about the price, in Europe a lotus exige with 220hp costs more or less 60.000$, a camaro ss 55.000$. not much difference. about their performance in a race, people don't race in tracks usually, they go fast on curvy roads (depends on the country), and here a lotus wins. The main thing I wanted to say is that power is not so important. The ratio weight-power is the point.
@txopenjauer you still don't get it. the Ariel Atom would be cheaper than the the Lotus and better on a curvy road, is the Lotus is bad? you can't compare different classes. the Lotus is easier to live with than the Atom. the Camaro is easier to live with everyday than the Lotus. you have to sacrifice something for light weight; convenience (smaller and fewer features) or low cost (a lot of light weight materials). the Camaro is a very track capable GT car not a lightweight track car.
@TheAmericanAutos ok true. if you are talking about everyday cars there is nothing such powerful as a camaro or mustang or genesis. have a look at the insingnia opc, here in europe the price is very competitive, maybe it's a new competitor for the stangs and maros.
@txopenjauer 1- I have no interest in the Genesis. It's a Hyundai and a lot less powerful and slower than the Mustang or Camaro for almost the same money.
2- The Opel Insignia OPC is less powerful, slower and slightly more expensive. Compared to the Mustang and Camaro, the Insignia OPC gives a little more convenience (more backseat room and AWD if you get snow) but sacrifices in the performance and cost departments.
@txopenjauer the lotus might be quicker to take off, but with the mustang's 200 extra hp, in the mile the lotus would get recked from not having enough hp to even compete
@nenesdatsun You said that the 370Z has better handling than any of the cars in the video. The BMW M3 easily out handles the 370Z and since the 5.0 Mustang hangs with the M3, it can out handle a 370Z no problem.
Nice video, but may I ask why it is that you are influencing us to buy vehicles made in the USA? I'm sure it's not to make money since you're not representing a specific auto maker. Is it just for patriotism?
@JoeJoeyJose Thanks. I do support them because they are American but the main reason why is because Ford, GM and Chrysler support almost 120,000 workers in the US plus thousands of jobs at offices and R&D and millions indirectly through dealerships and parts suppliers so I'm doing it to support local jobs.
@TheAmericanAutos Mostly curiosity, but you did invest a lot of effort into this video. Who are you guys? And well also because my dad is comparing a Toyota Tundra and a Chevy Silverado.
@JoeJoeyJose Thanks! We are a group of people who support buying locally made products in general but specifically support buying from the big 3. What cab/engine size is your dad considering?
I've yet to see a Japanese car that combines power, grip, track reliability and a lightweight chassis like a Corvette.. with a great V8 noise. A Corvette Z06 has a higher trap speed than a GTR and is only half a second slower to the 1/4 mile. A Z06 beats a GTR to a standing mile and when the launch control is disabled (after 4 launches) a Z06 would beat a GTR to the 1/4 mile and a ZR1 would embarrass it.
@JVlaSSaCrE I would have loved to have the Dodge Charger R/T but the video was fairly long as it is and I didn't want it to be too long. There are many more videos to come and different cars will be featured!
Everybody stop b**ching!!! They both have their ups and downs. Imports are generally better quality, but when you live in America...muscle cars are just American history. Imports are more futuristic but they just don't satisfy those Americans. My point: Each is great, worth the money, and look really good. You choose yourself. Personally, I like muscle cars. Also, our real enemy is PRIUS and other stupid cars like that!!!
Nissan is the only import car brand that still makes a high hp sports car. Honda, Toyota, and Mazda have bailed out or are making weak ass sports cars like the rx8. The s2000 was pretty weak as well when it was still in production. Toyota's sporty car is a celica with 180hp.
@LilDevilJose you're a fool. no stock skyline can beat any of these cars. may be with 15k in to the engine and suspension yeah sure it Will but that's not the case here. then you'llhave all kinds of problems in the near future cause all your mod's you just did cause they can't handle abuse. so i say to you Fuck off you jap loving son of a Bitch and have a good day! American pride all the way!!!
@ Ricaldo 107 you jackass the NISSAN 370Z is the MOST expensive for a reason you clown cause the 370 IS BETTER than all these pussy ass cars. It was manufactured better so that obviously tells you why it's the one with the highest MSRP and obviously it's WAY faster than these girl cars. These cars are weekend cars like what they were meant to be made for. The weekends ahahaha XD
@LilDevilJose lol so the Mazdaspeed3 and WRX are the worst cars because they are the cheapest? You sound like a child. Where are you getting your knowledge from? The Camaro SS and Mustang GT would beat a 370Z on a track and the Challenger R/T is a long tourer that's very track capable, especially for its weight. It's the most spacious and most comfortable of all of the cars in the video (import or American). If you want a track car or a comfortable fast car, an American car will deliver better.
@thefluffster101 I'm not sure what you mean but a 2010 Camaro SS is the same as a 2011. Neither a 370Z or 350Z can beat a Camaro SS or a Mustang GT. Horsepower isn't everything. The Camaro SS and Mustang GT are very track capable. The Challenger is too but its big size and more comfortable ride sacrifice some performance. If you stiffen up a Challenger R/T you can probably beat a 370Z because it has enough power and a good chassis and will probably still be more comfortable.
American Cars are mainly all show NO FUCKING GO!!! FUCK AMERICAN cars they're COMPLETE GARBAGE! Horsepower doesn't sell the car you stupid fuckin american muscle clowns! any NISSAN SKYLINE could smoke these american toy cars. American cars are over-rated everybody and they gf, brother, dad, momma, grandad and grandmama be having pussy ass american cars they're the girliest cars ever. I wonder if Mustang owners be playing the song my little pony ahahahaha XD IMPORTS ALL DAY EVERYDAY! IMPORTS!!!!
@LilDevilJose It's funny you say all show no go about American cars when import buyers are the ones who invented ricers lol. 'Ring times: Z06 (not even ZR1) 7:22.68 vs 7:24.22 Nissan GT-R . Willow Springs track time: Mustang GT 1:27.76 vs BMW M3 1:27.67. Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca: Mustang Boss 302 1:40.4 vs Audi R8 1:40.8. 'Ring times: Cobalt SS TC 8:22.85 vs Mazda Mazdaspeed3.. American cars beat imports in every performance category.. something to think about.
@thefluffster101 The turbo Toyota Supra was good on the track but it still wasn't a good bang-for-your-buck. When you account for inflation, a new Toyota Supra back then cost about twice as much as these cars cost today. This video is about how much you can get on a $30k budget and you can get a lot more with American cars than you do with imports.
@thefluffster101 Hard to pick.. I think it would be the Challenger. I'd rather have the Mustang or the Camaro on the track but I don't track often and the Challenger has a slightly better ride and is more spacious.. and it has a HEMI lol
@mosalam1 This video isn't about the Vette but anyways, you'd be crazy to think someone would drive a GTR (also cheap interior) in the snow because it is AWD. It would be a little easier to drive in snow (it won't be as easy as a family AWD just because it's AWD), but when you get to the track and you race a ZR1, they won't give you extra points when you lose because you would be able to control your car in the winter a little more easily.
Oh and as for the uneducated hill billy that said the GTR had a worst track time than the ZR1 your WRONG. The 2012 GTR was tested and raced against the ZR1 and finished with a better time on the track not to mention its cheaper.
@Ricaldo107 These are the Nurburgring times for 2012 models: 7:24.22 for Nissan GTR vs 7:22.68 for Chevy Corvette Z06 vs 7:19.63 Chevy Corvette ZR1. The Z06 (cheaper than the GTR) is almost 2 seconds quicker and the ZR1 is almost 5 seconds quicker. You should make sure you're educated enough before you call other people uneducated.
The cars in this video are pathetic and so is the person who made it. Clearly the maker was just trying to hype the cars in this video with false information cause NEITHER one of these cars can reach 60 mph in under 5 seconds. Sure they have enough power but are very heavy and are all rear wheel drive which means poor traction. Out of the imports named at the beggining of the video the WRX and 370z would rip all of these cars apart and still get better gas mileage for aorund 29k.

@Ricaldo107 All of the 0-60 times and 1/4 mile times are as tested by Motor Trend and/or Car and Driver. The Mustang GT gets better fuel economy than the 370Z and WRX while offering more power and would beat either on the track. The Mustang GT achieved the same track time as a BMW M3 (neither the WRX or the 370Z can) as tested by Motor Trend.
@Ricaldo107 The 370Z is actually the most expensive car in this video with the highest MSRP and slower than the Camaro and Mustang in a straight line or around a track and I think about the same as the Challenger in a straight line and a little quicker around the track but the Challenger R/T isn't a track car. It's a fast, very comfortable and track capable long tourer. Same thing goes for the WRX, except for the price.
Technically if you say American content than all 3 cars are USA. Though the Challenger is assembled in Canada. No big deal, but you did say supporting America right. You are mostly right. I think the Mustang is the most American. The Camaro shares Technology with the Holden Manaro Platform. Not a bad car, quite a very good car from Australia. Just wondering. Thank you for the video.
@vincedog3 The Camaro platform is modified not just slapped under the car. Holden also shares Chevy's engine technology so it's an exchange of technology (beneficial for the US) and not an "import" of technology. And except for the Accord, all the other cars mentioned in the video have 0% American content, so the Camaro, Challenger and Mustang are certainly more American with 66%, 70% and 65% APC.
@vincedog3 And as for Honda, Chrysler (the smallest of the big 3) assembles over a million cars annually in the US. Ford and GM assemble almost 2 million each annually. Honda assembles about 950k in the US and employs fewer Americans so buying from Chrysler (or the other 2) clearly supports more Americans. Plus the HQ's are in the US for all of the big three so most of profits and R&D are in the US so the big three's business is more beneficial to the economy.
@rcpax Well, I guess you are too afraid to comment? Anyways, American cars handle amazingly (unless they are not made to handle the best) As with the Challenger R/T, it is more of a respectable track-capable (or drag racer) long tourer. It is the car you want to drive across the country because it's comfortable. The Mustang is a track killer. American cars have everything to offer.
@rcpax Here are some numbers: 'Ring times: Z06 (not even ZR1) 7:22.68 vs 7:24.22 Nissan GT-R . Willow Springs track time: Mustang GT 1:27.76 vs BMW M3 1:27.67. Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca: Mustang Boss 302 1:40.4 vs Audi R8 1:40.8. 'Ring times: Cobalt SS TC 8:22.85 vs. 8:36 Volkswagen Golf Mk5 VW R32 MKV DSG (and 8:39 Mazda Mazdaspeed3). American cars that are meant to be track killers are track killers.
@rcpax Are you annoyed by the fact that American cars offer far more power and performance than the competition for the same price and almost the same fuel consumption (and better than some)?
@vgarza713 Don't forget the Challenger V6 which is impressive and can be had for even less than $30,000 (less than $25,000). I definitely didn't forget about the SRT8! But I wanted to show how much you can get for about $30,000 from Dodge vs foreign brands. The most powerful foreign offering for around $30,000 (which is actually more expensive than the Challenger R/T) is from Nissan which is the 370Z. The Challenger R/T still offers 43 more horses and a whopping 140 more lb-ft of torque!

Why don't you post the earlier comment I made about handling
rcpax 7 months ago
@rcpax btw, I've changed the video settings so now comments are added automatically.

TheAmericanAutos 6 months ago
@rcpax Here are some numbers: 'Ring times: Z06 (not even ZR1) 7:22.68 vs 7:24.22 Nissan GT-R . Willow Springs track time: Mustang GT 1:27.76 vs BMW M3 1:27.67. Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca: Mustang Boss 302 1:40.4 vs Audi R8 1:40.8. 'Ring times: Cobalt SS TC 8:22.85 vs. 8:36 Volkswagen Golf Mk5 VW R32 MKV DSG (and 8:39 Mazda Mazdaspeed3). American cars that are meant to be track killers are track killers.

Poor ass Youtube channel. So you really have to approve every comment huh? Way to go..

@rcpax Are you annoyed by the fact that American cars offer far more power and performance than the competition for the same price and almost the same fuel consumption (and better than some)?

Why is the cheapest Challenger on there??? Where is the srt8!!!
vgarza713 7 months ago
@vgarza713 Don't forget the Challenger V6 which is impressive and can be had for even less than $30,000 (less than $25,000). I definitely didn't forget about the SRT8! But I wanted to show how much you can get for about $30,000 from Dodge vs foreign brands. The most powerful foreign offering for around $30,000 (which is actually more expensive than the Challenger R/T) is from Nissan which is the 370Z. The Challenger R/T still offers 43 more horses and a whopping 140 more lb-ft of torque!
