  • King of the wilderness

  • I'm watching this late at night because I've had too many beers and wine. Don't worry though I won't be waving knives about.

  • I met lofty many years ago when I did a body guard course. Very nice guy with lots of stories. Makes me feel old when I see him now.

  • Lofty was the original SAS/Armed forces survival trainer, Ray Mears is now doing a lot, and Bear Grylls learnt from courses that Lofty founded and Mears taught..... I bought the SAS survival guide when I was a kid and am still learning from it, Cheers Lofty!

  • Lofty was the original SAS

  • good old lofty, i notice that he still says "OK" a lot, top man...

  • He eats mears and sh*ts grylls ! ;) This man can show and tell you how a bear sh*ts in the woods !

  • I don't need a knife or a gun. I got a donk.

  • I'm thinking of signing for a course, I'll be in touch.

  • Tell the guy in the back to quit watching and keep working.

  • Thats a no nonsense survival tool. Never heard of this bloke and yet after watching this I can see he is no mug. Maybe the greatest survival blade Ive seen. Small but substantial and controlable. Thick about the spine for clout. Fat bellied for forward wieght with a nice angle edge for the kukri effect when choping.

For shelter building and digging batoning and sking and maybe even a few other survival tasks!

What steel is it i wonder?. Looking to even purchase!!

  • FCK Bear Gryls, I'd rather be stranded in the jungle/desert/forest with Lofty any day of the week, none bullsh*t survival tactics

  • @PanicBlackEye where do you think Gryls learned his shit from?

  • A national treasure.

  • great looking tool and excellent safety brief. thanks

  • I wonder how many people are alive today who wouldn't otherwise have been because of this man's teachings - conversely, how many aren't - because of his military skills.

  • The former Director of 22 SAS (General Sir Peter DE LA Billiere) said in his book the following about Lofty regarding his survival expertise:

'Lofty Wiseman, probably the greatest living expert in the subject.'

    Nuff said!

  • He is a legend.

  • I have such high respect for this man!

  • this guy is the the daddy of survival. better than ray mears, bear grylls etc. i use to have his old video that was made in the 70's until it got stolen. he showed everything, even how to make a fishing net out of your shoe laces.

  • where i can buy that parang please ?:)

    nice video !

  • help me please :) thanks

  • @Alexlecce I dont think they make that model parang anymore, i have been trying to find one too, maybe try secondhand or post an advert in the survival forums.

  • @ilikebeertoo ok thank you! :)

  • ive allways used the name "lofty" as an insult lol, someones falling behind or fell over id say, Waaay get up lofty!

  • Okey, now show who survive in the wilderness.....

  • I have 2 of "Loftys" survival books. And they are MORE comprehensive than the U.S. military guides! And you can get them virtually anywhere!

  • lofty trains survival skills to the SAS, he wrote one of the most popular survival guides of all time, you dont get survival experts of a higher calibre than lofty !

  • @dude157 ray mears is good too, newspapers say that bear is a fake,he s stupid,

take a look at the german Rüdiger Nehberg, wanted to make a nice trip in the jungle, lost all his things exept his machete the first day,an accident,1 month later they found him back,he was ok,but wiseman is the king of kings

  • @georgewashington92 Bear is not a fake. He shows what you may have to do as a last resort to survive. Problem is, nearly all the things he does are last resort options, and he doesnt show much of the safer first choice options. Alot of the stuff is for entertainmen,t showing what bear can do, rather than what you should do. Still, he does alot of charity work, he was the youngest Brit to climb everest and live. He also set various records when he paraglided over Mt Everest

  • @dude157 bought the book yesterday and have learned a shitload

  • Legend!!!

  • Second that!!

  • He is the boss

  • When i go to PNG they all just call it a bushknife, does the job for me.

  • we call it a parang, maybe a machete. in the carribean they call it a cutlass. but it is a parang. uh machete... uh... parang

  • Great video. In Brazil I set up my machetes in the same way as well as making a few mods to the spine.

  • I've read several SAS books which mentioned this living legend of a man - long may he continue doing what he so obviously loves and is so good at. And no, I wouldn't kick sand in his face! LOL

  • ied do feckin anything for one of those parangs...

  • See you Lofty,i do have the ultimate respect for you.

  • Great! Do you have more Lofty video???

  • new lofty vid out in jan at trueways

  • My mate went on one of his courses and had to learn how to kill has own food and swim a lake naked with clothes as an inflatable ect.John is looking old now but still keeps going.
