I saw this movie today and I enjoyed it.I'm surprised it's not a classic movie like it should be.Only thing I didn't like about this movie was,it was too short (102 mins) and had a short storyline.

If I remember correctly, it was about a man living with approximately 50 wild cats as if they were his family, that's why they all have names and he tries to separate the fighting males.
He's sort of a wild life protector and wanted to prove that those wild cats aren't dangerous if you know how to behave around them.
The big flaw is obviously the mix of lions, tigers and cougars. Cats that would never meet each other out in the wild, but...eh.

While the movie is really old now, it still has the most amazing images and some fantastic cinematography. No CGI in the world can beat the "real thing", especially when it comes to animals.
Those people who are caring for the big cats remind me of Daniel from the Bible. Read the Book of Daniel chapter 5 to 6. Read the Gospel tract called "Cats" on Chick.com.

I first saw this film way back around 1987 and still have the vhs we recorded it on,it was a wonderful film,i still love watching it today,i love the music at the beginning and Gary the lion! And the sweet little tiger and lion cubs.Considering it took years to actually make and alot of money i imagine,i truly love it.I was sad to hear that Noel passed away last year :(
Despite some terrible acting and the preaching at the end of the film (here it is 30 plus years later and people still don't respect nature), this film was very underrated and stands as a classic. Some scenes just make one cringe. It was a brilliant film and I don't apologise for it being a favourate of mine. Sure beats Avatar.
Leave it to messed up Tippi Hedren and whatever crack pot she was with at the time to think this was a great idea. Some of these extreme animal lovers are just as bad at the people who purposely abuse animals.

@TU89UK I have worked with both and lions are born to fight it's in there genes to dominate and it's in a tigers genes to avoid a fight because a simple injury can cause them to limp and they would not be able to hunt as for the lion they do not care the rest of the pride will bring home food any way so they welcome a fight.....The size difference is very small the tiger is bigger so it is slow and not as agile and the lion is actually stronger a much better fighter.....Nice try though

Lions are known to be better at fighting because they're more practised at it and because they're far more aggressive, fact 7/10 is the stats in favour of the Lion. Lastly Lions back legs and spine relatively weak because its evolved to go forward

Tigers do have longer canines, but the strongest bite forces come at the carnasials. A lion is every bit as strong as about 10 men, faster than any human, with razor sharp 3 inch claws, and the type of agility that will leave you with little skin on your bones. Not only would you have to penetrate the lion`s mane while trying to slash his neck, you may not hit a vital spot, and i doubt you`d get the chance.

@gkraz agreed. the result really depends on the animal's individual skill and fighting style. Lions generally go for single, very powerful blows, sometimes with both paws. Tigers use several faster blows, but lack their full strength. so it depends on the Lion's skill and timing and potential to be overwhelmed, and the tiger's choice of power to speed ratio. if that particular tiger prefers to use more power, it might be enough to give it an advantage. if not, the lion might have an advantage...

@RPGTKingpin Absolutely wrong !! i agree a fight could go both ways but no way r they equal in terms of fighting. Lions are known to be better at fighting because they're more practised at it and because they're far more aggressive, fact 7/10 is the stats in favour of the Lion. Tiger is cunning and smart but Lions have more dynamic cognition in terms of reading situations and exhibiting patcients a crucal adv. Lastly Lions back legs and spine relatively weak because its evolved to go forward

@coolcaazz no arguing that the Lion has the upper hand tactically due to experience. however, the back legs and spine part can't be attributed to the lion only. that's like saying the Ferrari sports cars are slower in reverse than forward because they're meant to go forward. it applies to other cars as well. in this case, it applies to the tiger as well.

@coolcaazz my point earlier was that while the lino has slightly less physical strength to use [the small size difference is enough to show that], it uses it all. the Tiger has somewhat more physical strength, but doesn't use it. as a result, the Lion's the more powerful fighter, while the Tiger relies on speed. so in the end it depends on what combination of those two are brought together. a particularly powerful lion vs. a particularly slow tiger = lion winning, for example

So tactically Tiger must exploit space with increased movement.Problem is due to their natrual instinct to avoid injuries at all cost even when attacking they never fully commit so like you said they never really use their full power.

@TU89UK maybe you need to go back to school Lions have much more fighting experience and their lives is build on fighting/best, most fit genes being passed on. A body builder is much bigger and stronger than a UFC fighter but that doesnt mean the bodybuilder would win. Also would like to add: Lions are taller than Tigers. @TU89UK Lions are taller and about equal in weight. Indeed, i have every modern document published upon the subject. Tigers do have longer canines, but the strongest bite forces come at the carnasials. Tigers are slightly longer, but lions are more aggressive, with a protective mane, and a stronger paw swipe (which has nothing to do with size).

A lion is every bit as strong as about 10 men, faster than any human, with razor sharp 3 inch claws, and the type of agility that will leave you with little skin on your bones. Not only would you have to penetrate the lion`s mane while trying to slash his neck, you may not hit a vital spot, and i doubt you`d get the chance.
