i was born in the early ninetees, but grew up with all these things of the 80's and should i tell you what? I LOVED IT <3 and
i LOVE THE GAMES OF THE 80's FUCK CRYSIS FUCK CALL OF DUTY PLAY NES SNES GENESIS AND ATARI! <3 zelda <3 super mario <3 sonic <3 fuck yeah and really i dont care , sitting on a DOS machine running windows 95. DOS games are great!
as well: i love the cars, the brown-wooden style (which was top in austria at the 90's) and of course CRT tvs! <3 love you for upping
i want to see one a tribute 2000-2010 and see the tacholgy can change in 1 year and music lost all tv show are no good and movies are remake of of 1970's/80's/90's movies
She-Ra! Banana clips! Mullets!! Slap bracelets banned!!! All of these were true for me, except for the Jordache jacket. But my husband was in high school in the 80s and he had one! I absolutely loved this video, thank you for posting it. Love being a child of the 80s :)
@Rockets96KM Oh yes, the 80's was a great decade, especially the music...Van Halen, Def Leppard, Michael Jackson, Night Ranger, Duran Duran, Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, and etc!! :)
You forgot 16 Candles,Tales From The Darkside (creepy into theme),Garbage Pail kids,Hulk Hogan's Rock N Wrestling,Inspector Gadget,Nightmare on Elm Street,etc.
I remember some this things ( some was only in USA and I live in Brazil), but I dance in the disco clubs! And won some contests dance. ( my past...OMG !)
I sing with: Abba, Queen, Madonna, Cindy Lauper, Duran Duran, B52, Blondie,
etc.
I'm a "survivor" of the Rock in Rio Festival in 1985! I was there!!!
I have so many memories of these years. Is the best part of my life.
i was born in the 90s and ill admit 80s was sooooo epic. movies, shows, music, the king MJ. 90s was called the golden age of kids. 80s was like the golden age of teens and other stuff! u 80s kids/teens were lucky
I just finished re_watching .. TWILIGHT (the DVD on a wee 14" portable TV .. with zero sound... BUT...!!! I pumped that audio -- through the old SHARP 2ch 25watt 8 ohm per ch .. Intergrated amplifier .. and through all 22 speakers .. of that 10 ch surround sound system .. and? I'm even listening to the 'credits" music .. it's that powerfully good. (And U ..? @chroniclerofthe70s ...? What'r U watching & listening too?)
But.. by far and above .. the BEST thing I ever did "make" .. was the complete cockup -- of trying to "fix" a couple of kitset electronic pre-amps .. into an OLD Philips (made in Holland) Reel to Reel tape recorder .. that I'd broken a glass "VALVE" of. As - if I hadn't done that -- i'd have NEVER discovered multiple chs of ANALOGUE surround sound .. nor ever discovered .. HOW to construct them .. so's that they actually WORK (check out my latest cellphone videos of my 22 speakered 10 ch unit)
I remember the BETTER - earlier 60's TV PROGRAMS .. of Al Mundy (It Takes A Thief) And Alias Smith & Jones (no not the silly sitcoim -- but the TWO USA Bank Robber "Outlaws" .. whom NEVER shot any one - and never actually EVER got a bank vault open .. by dropping it off a cliff -- into a mudhole?)
AND .. the original; STAR WARS..
The ? Starship ENTERPRISE & Spock - & Capt.Kirk - (played by REAL people Scottie - before they were done as imitation & useless characterisations)
@TheLuceeeee That's because the 70s were the best years. I liked the 80s. It had the best teen comedies.
However, the 70s had movies that have greatly impacted the 80s, 90s, and 2000,s. The movies Star Wars and Halloween are two examples. The media corporation tried to make a "That 80s show" , it failed. That 70's show remains popular and I believe lasted 9 years.
@chroniclerofthe70s AH ! Yes the media corporation (or the box office in general)
Yep.
And there WAS another of the GREATS- done before it's TIME.
Which was:
BATTLETRUCK
Filmed as it was- in & around Alexandra, (& more specifically GALLOWAY) in Central Otago, South Island NZ (mainland to us folks down here) in the mid_year "NZ" Winter of 1978- which was later changed to "?" Warlords of the 21st Century (in 1982) to become probably the worst box office hit of it's (1980's era) NAME CHANGE
I grew up in the 80's. I enjoyed it very much and high school was great with friends that I still keep in touch with over the years. Thanks for the compilation.
Oh yes, love Bon Jovi (esp Jon) .. and still do after all these years.
P/S : May i mention "Footloose" and the unforgettable Kevin Bacon ?
I like the 80s and this was a great tribute. However, I think SOME of the 80s kids out there shouldn't come down on 90s kids for the simple fact that both decades of kids had great entertainment, were the last couple of decades of children to enjoy the outdoors before technology took over, and were the last generations of kids to to remember when the economy wasn't so screwed up.
@babygirl77518 I respectfully disagree. The 90s did have some good entertainment, but not much compared to the 80s and 70s. I agree 80s and 70s kids shouldn't put down 90s kids. After all, it wasn't 90s kids fault for what was offered. In the 90s and 2000,s, technology really developed and expanded. Media corporation greed began to affect programming. The 90s was the beginning of parent managed sports from older kids to toddlers. 70s kids were the last outdoor chaperoned generation.
@chroniclerofthe70s Everybody can have their opinions, but I don't think the 70s and 80s had as much to offer as the 90s did. They had great music, but the 90s had a little bit everything and technology was SLOWLY advancing in the 90s. Now it's "in your face" constantly. Growing up I remember seeing A LOT of kids outside playing, because like I said, technology wasn't all super advanced. Also people were not as overweight back then. I'm very proud to have grown up in the 90s.
@babygirl77518 I guess it depends on how you were raised. I'm speaking in general. In the 70s and early 80s, children in general had more freedom. In the 90s, it was a mixture because I remember kids playing outside too, but I also saw many playing Nintendo and Sega Genesis. I slowly started to see my younger relatives on the internet by the mid 90s. When I was a kid, children ate lots of sugar, but since we were mostly running outdoors, it was rare to see a kid overweight.
@chroniclerofthe70s Those games were fun. I remember people using the Internet (if they used it at all) for doing research mostly. Also the 90s had diversity in terms of television. The Cosby Show was probably the best show of the 80s and it paved the way for other good shows that came after it. All the 00s had to offer was technology, reality shows, & auto tune. Most people who hate on the 90s just do so because of Britney Spears and the grunge era, but there was much more music than that.
What you say about the 90's I say about the 80's, what I say about the 80's others say about the 70's.
See how it works? My thought is that civilizations major decline really got going mid 90's. That's just my personal opinion though and nothing else. 80's music is far and away superior to the other decades in my book.....there again. Just my opinion-take it with a grain of salt please.
@n8tureboy I respect your "opinion." However, I know many people who are in their 40s and 50s that enjoyed the 90s just as much as the kids and teens did, just in a different way. Civilization didn't decline until 2000s in my opinion. 9/11 marked the beginning and in 2005 it seemed as though everything took a nosedive.
@chroniclerofthe70s What a chap - er - OWN? (Oh - u mean one of those fuddy duddy OLD woman .. from the VICTORIAN AGE .. away BACK before liberated (& proactive) illegitimately fueled offsprings -- appeared after WWII - back in the dim dark ages .. OF THE NAUGHTY FORTIES.?
the best are 80's and 90's era. top gun, forrest gump, back to the future, pulp fiction, karate kid, etc. i also like 90's for the game consoles like Sega, Family computer, they're so old school.
@vidgirl4444 Holy Sh ! ??? Well at least TWO good "things" happened in 1978- No wait- THREE. I gave UP on Alcohol (except for one day-- in 1985-- when I slipped & fell under the midnight drunks "?" wagon- at NZ's Hamilton & Mystery Creek Feildays- in June of 1985) & Then-- the FILM-- of: BATTLETRUCK It was "filmed" (partly)-- on our farm at Galloway-- in NZ's midyear WINTER months (of 1978). AND.? That was also the year: YOU were born. Yes ... 1978 was a (really) GOOD year ;-)
@80sGiraffe Totally agreed. The GREATEST DECADE EVER. The Musicians, the Saturday Morning Cartoons,
The Styles, Nintendo, just the whole positive attitude, the Movies and sitcoms,so many memorable lines from popular culture and MTV was still playing Music.
Uh, I feel like most of this stuff happened in the 90s, but I'll answer anyway: Denim Jacket? Yes Fresh Prince? Yes WHOA!!! Yes Ducktales EVERY EPISODE Fluourescent Clothing? Yes, both shirts, friendship braclets, and shoe strings. Slap Braclets? I went to buy one from Hot Topic and I was like, "What is this cheap paper piece of...... paper?" Pooples... BLECH! I actually did fall once and couldn't get up. I remember wearing those skates AFTER inlines. Rainbow Brite? Pure evil!
Ashes to Ashes- Dust to Dust (Terri Gibbs) 1982 - 45 rpm (vinyl) via Wide_Mode
Note.. played DIRECT from a 45rpm Vinyl .. but NOT in stereo - and NOT in MONO either .. but in surround sound -- 1965 style (analogue) ... see .. I remember the 80's ... Just.!
Not too well - but at least I remember them better than the drunken 70's & the old High School 60's & the Primary School 50's & the.? Wow .. I can even remember a few before that too... (as my Mum used to talk of them...) And so-! Do I remember the 80's .. Um - nah - not too well sorry.
@QUIX4U says .. p.s ..U did good with this Upload.. (It's in full form multiple ch surround sound) .. And so don't KNOCK - Ur own video .. It's delightfull.
Thankyou. .. it's been a pleasure listening to this "middle aged" oldie...
@QUIX4U The 70s did have drunks. Perhaps because lite beers hadn't become as popular as today. The 80s had a number of teenagers that overdosed on alcohol because of drinking games. The 80s, 90s, had AIDs and crack cocaine epidemic. The 70s was perhaps the most free from federal, state, and parental controlled decade in the last 61 years.
As the 70's were my WORST years. Having LOST 6 of them between 1972 & 1978 (being as I was- in a continual FULLY inebriated alcohol fuel stuper & "working" via motor trolley as- AN ON_TRACK "inspecting"ganger- riding ON the rails on a 12 Hp B&S powered "jigger"- running half an hour (often less) in FRONT of several hundred "ton" NZR
TRAINS.
Did I care ?
I was NEVER sober- for long enough- to even think that was foolish.
@chroniclerofthe70s What's a LITE beer (is that a watered down version of 1950's GINGER BEER)
& Who DRANK "just" beer? TOP SHELF SPIRITS were almost as cheap as Beer & Wine (back in the 70's). My main "take_anywhere" PARTY_FUEL ... was 3 flagons (1/2G's) of Blenheimer STILL "white" wine, at least three DOZEN (now LONG necks) of some FULL VALUE Draught Beer & at LEAST 3 TALL bottles of either Beehive or Napolean BRANDY (& I always seemed to have HAD at least 2 AUX trips BACK- to a bottle store)?
@QUIX4U did say .. that I LOST -- some SIX YEARS (in thought -- time 7 SPACE ... between 1972 & 1978 .. being as I was .. permanently DRUNK .. and so would YOU have been -- on the consumption RATE -- that I was sucking bottles dry.
I am sorry to be rude on your post and not 1 of theirs but i don't know how to find a post they did . Lastly as to asking someone to be friends in here believe it or not i have respect for who i ask and i NEVER ask without including a note why iasked !
The80sRemember <.....they just asked me to be friends and of course no reasen why they asked . And to the youtube world that all do that your all gimps. Then i go their page and no place to comment or write them a message YEEHAA people that do that are even worse so in short im goona take a pass on friendship lol
@csp1977 Same goes for those of us who grew up in the 60's and 70's. You guys think you invinted it. We took what we were handed and passed it on. Some you handled well, others you dropped the ball. Pass it on and see what the next gererations do with it. :)
@DouglasMiles1 The 60's were great if you were in your 20's and getting your first car. The 80's was all fun for children and teens. The next generations will all be screwed wasting their life on the internet and facebook. No creativity.
@bxmami4u I disagree, the early 80s was a continuation of the late 70s. What movies from the 80s can compare to Star Wars, Halloween, Jaws, Exorcist, and Alien? I don't see madonna inspired fashions, leg warmers, or teased up colored hair as much anymore, do you? I do see however girls with ripped jeans, high sole shoes, hip huggers, etc. There are 70s fashion stores throughout the U.S. which sell new and used 70s clothing, usually for hundred of dollars per clothing item.
@chroniclerofthe70s OMG - u mean people WEAR CLOTHES NOW 9in the 70's & early 80's .. it weas HIGH FASHION -- to walk nude (or run -- across rugby feilds etc - chased by uselessly SLOW "clothed" cops) .. Yep - there weren't MANY clothes "worn" ...EVERYWHERE..
@QUIX4U The U.S. has many states. I rarely saw anyone wearing less revealing clothing than today, although I'm sure there were areas around the country where nudity was the norm, such as in nudist colonies.
@chroniclerofthe70s Oh U poor sod.. (stuck in the good ole US of ?"_A_"? Where no-one broke the clothing rules .. Happily -- I spent my ill gotten youth (as well as the rest of my life) in FREE LIVING .. break all the rules .. New Zealand (where many midnight madness NUDIST STREAKERS .. ran the frequent guantlet -- of sporting events .. to the great delight & amusement (and vocal encouragement) ... of the watching crouds.. And most often - IN FULL DAYLIGHT
@QUIX4U Don't feel sorry for me in the USA. Back in the 70s, I experienced major league sports, auto racing, horse racing, arcade games, flying kites, riding bikes, mini-bikes, riding horses, fishing, camping, swimming, skating at roller rinks, riding in back of trucks, circuses, carnivals, road side carnivals, pumpkin carving, building models, comics, hay rides, rock concerts, skateboards, Drive Inn Movies, CB radios, 8-track tapes, dance parties, great tv, movies, rodeos, and fireworks.
@chroniclerofthe70s See.! (I do feel sorry 4U) I not only DID all of that too- but many MORE things besides- such as building tree huts in Bluegum trees, digging_out huts via underground trenches, making holes in macrocarpa hedges (same reason) PLUS- I didn't just RIDE behind trucks- I drove ours- on our farm, plus a "fergie" tractor (at about 8yrs of age & have a picture of that in a video- here somewhere) Oh & I built my own Ride_On_Railways & made MAGIC_CARPET_RIDES (out of old wine barrels).
@QUIX4U I grew up in the country as well. You probably caught wildlife like I did. I also hunted wild game as a kid. I drove trucks as a kid too but mostly out in the back woods. I built model air-plane gliders which only lasted about an hour since most would run into trees. I also launched model rockets. The neighborhood kids and I also built trenches in bull dozed fields acting out WWII scenarios and shooting at each other with BB guns. Feel sorry for today's kids, they are overprotected.
Hey Chronicler! I've been reading your back and forth there. Spot-on, I remember the 70's and 80's so vividly. They were gre8t times weren't they?
I agree with your analysis, and just like you I grew up in a rural area, we walked through the woods, swam in the streams, drove our trucks, motorcycles, bikes, played video games, built forts in the woods. All those things that you mentioned and so much more. Your comment makes me super-nostalgic for then. Thanks man! N8
@n8tureboy I agree. You had to have grown up in a rural small town back in the 70s and early 80s to understand.
Kids were given lots of freedom. Back then, hunting rifles on racks were common and easily accessible to kids, yet not a single gun accident involving a kid occurred in my town.
Mini-bikes and 80cc motorcycles were popular then, too. We used to set up ramps and jump over obstacles like Evel Knievel. We got scrapes and cuts, a wash, a band aid, and we were back in business.
[quote] @bxmami4u I disagree, the early 80s was a continuation of the late 70s [unquote]
WRONG... The 70's .. were in fact .. a continuation .. of the 60's .. which in themselves ... were a continuation of the 50's etc etc etc .. time immersurable ..
RIGHT BACK TO THE BEGINNING .. of where we are @ .. right now.
@QUIX4U I'm referring to social, technological, and cultural events. In the U.S., only the early 70s was a continuation of the 60s with vietnam war, anti-war demonstrations, women's right's movement, and black power groups. What the 70s had the 60s didn't: Earth day, Abortion Rights, home digital games, commercial VCR's, Laserdisc players, Sony Walkman, Interacial marriage on TV sitcom, NMR medical scanners, CT-Scanners, Laser Printers, TCP internet protocol, and cellular mobile phones.
The 80s seemed like a cool decade. I mean the 80s was when rap was in its golden years, The Cosby Show came along and made you proud to be black, and Michael Jackson was in his prime. In addition, New Edition was one hot R&B group. I disagree with people saying that in the mid 90s everything went downhill. I think in the mid 00s everything went downhill.
I can relate to this video. :-)

QUIX4U 7 months ago
But.. by far and above .. the BEST thing I ever did "make" .. was the complete cockup -- of trying to "fix" a couple of kitset electronic pre-amps .. into an OLD Philips (made in Holland) Reel to Reel tape recorder .. that I'd broken a glass "VALVE" of. As - if I hadn't done that -- i'd have NEVER discovered multiple chs of ANALOGUE surround sound .. nor ever discovered .. HOW to construct them .. so's that they actually WORK (check out my latest cellphone videos of my 22 speakered 10 ch unit)

AND .. the original; STAR WARS..
The ? Starship ENTERPRISE & Spock - & Capt.Kirk - (played by REAL people Scottie - before they were done as imitation & useless characterisations)
QUIX4U 7 months ago
@TheLuceeeee That's because the 70s were the best years. I liked the 80s. It had the best teen comedies.
However, the 70s had movies that have greatly impacted the 80s, 90s, and 2000,s. The movies Star Wars and Halloween are two examples. The media corporation tried to make a "That 80s show" , it failed. That 70's show remains popular and I believe lasted 9 years.
chroniclerofthe70s 8 months ago
@chroniclerofthe70s AH ! Yes the media corporation (or the box office in general)
Yep.
And there WAS another of the GREATS- done before it's TIME.
Which was:
BATTLETRUCK
Filmed as it was- in & around Alexandra, (& more specifically GALLOWAY) in Central Otago, South Island NZ (mainland to us folks down here) in the mid_year "NZ" Winter of 1978- which was later changed to "?" Warlords of the 21st Century (in 1982) to become probably the worst box office hit of it's (1980's era) NAME CHANGE

mahsuri1284 8 months ago
I like the 80s and this was a great tribute. However, I think SOME of the 80s kids out there shouldn't come down on 90s kids for the simple fact that both decades of kids had great entertainment, were the last couple of decades of children to enjoy the outdoors before technology took over, and were the last generations of kids to to remember when the economy wasn't so screwed up.
babygirl77518 8 months ago
@babygirl77518 I respectfully disagree. The 90s did have some good entertainment, but not much compared to the 80s and 70s. I agree 80s and 70s kids shouldn't put down 90s kids. After all, it wasn't 90s kids fault for what was offered. In the 90s and 2000,s, technology really developed and expanded. Media corporation greed began to affect programming. The 90s was the beginning of parent managed sports from older kids to toddlers. 70s kids were the last outdoor chaperoned generation.
chroniclerofthe70s 8 months ago
@chroniclerofthe70s Everybody can have their opinions, but I don't think the 70s and 80s had as much to offer as the 90s did. They had great music, but the 90s had a little bit everything and technology was SLOWLY advancing in the 90s. Now it's "in your face" constantly. Growing up I remember seeing A LOT of kids outside playing, because like I said, technology wasn't all super advanced. Also people were not as overweight back then. I'm very proud to have grown up in the 90s.
babygirl77518 8 months ago
@babygirl77518 I guess it depends on how you were raised. I'm speaking in general. In the 70s and early 80s, children in general had more freedom. In the 90s, it was a mixture because I remember kids playing outside too, but I also saw many playing Nintendo and Sega Genesis. I slowly started to see my younger relatives on the internet by the mid 90s. When I was a kid, children ate lots of sugar, but since we were mostly running outdoors, it was rare to see a kid overweight.
chroniclerofthe70s 8 months ago
@chroniclerofthe70s Those games were fun. I remember people using the Internet (if they used it at all) for doing research mostly. Also the 90s had diversity in terms of television. The Cosby Show was probably the best show of the 80s and it paved the way for other good shows that came after it. All the 00s had to offer was technology, reality shows, & auto tune. Most people who hate on the 90s just do so because of Britney Spears and the grunge era, but there was much more music than that.
babygirl77518 8 months ago
@babygirl77518
What you say about the 90's I say about the 80's, what I say about the 80's others say about the 70's.
See how it works? My thought is that civilizations major decline really got going mid 90's. That's just my personal opinion though and nothing else. 80's music is far and away superior to the other decades in my book.....there again. Just my opinion-take it with a grain of salt please.
n8tureboy 7 months ago
@n8tureboy I respect your "opinion." However, I know many people who are in their 40s and 50s that enjoyed the 90s just as much as the kids and teens did, just in a different way. Civilization didn't decline until 2000s in my opinion. 9/11 marked the beginning and in 2005 it seemed as though everything took a nosedive.

@QUIX4U The 70s did have drunks. Perhaps because lite beers hadn't become as popular as today. The 80s had a number of teenagers that overdosed on alcohol because of drinking games. The 80s, 90s, had AIDs and crack cocaine epidemic. The 70s was perhaps the most free from federal, state, and parental controlled decade in the last 61 years.
chroniclerofthe70s 8 months ago
@chroniclerofthe70s Hahaha- U reckon.? Nah- sorry. Idissagree with that.

My main "take_anywhere" PARTY_FUEL ... was 3 flagons (1/2G's) of Blenheimer STILL "white" wine, at least three DOZEN (now LONG necks) of some FULL VALUE Draught Beer & at LEAST 3 TALL bottles of either Beehive or Napolean BRANDY (& I always seemed to have HAD at least 2 AUX trips BACK- to a bottle store)?

bxmami4u 9 months ago
@bxmami4u I disagree, the early 80s was a continuation of the late 70s. What movies from the 80s can compare to Star Wars, Halloween, Jaws, Exorcist, and Alien? I don't see madonna inspired fashions, leg warmers, or teased up colored hair as much anymore, do you? I do see however girls with ripped jeans, high sole shoes, hip huggers, etc. There are 70s fashion stores throughout the U.S. which sell new and used 70s clothing, usually for hundred of dollars per clothing item.
chroniclerofthe70s 8 months ago
@chroniclerofthe70s OMG - u mean people WEAR CLOTHES NOW 9in the 70's & early 80's .. it weas HIGH FASHION -- to walk nude (or run -- across rugby feilds etc - chased by uselessly SLOW "clothed" cops) .. Yep - there weren't MANY clothes "worn" ...EVERYWHERE..
QUIX4U 7 months ago
@QUIX4U The U.S. has many states. I rarely saw anyone wearing less revealing clothing than today, although I'm sure there were areas around the country where nudity was the norm, such as in nudist colonies.

New Zealand (where many midnight madness NUDIST STREAKERS .. ran the frequent guantlet -- of sporting events .. to the great delight & amusement (and vocal encouragement) ... of the watching crouds.. And most often - IN FULL DAYLIGHT
QUIX4U 7 months ago
@QUIX4U Don't feel sorry for me in the USA. Back in the 70s, I experienced major league sports, auto racing, horse racing, arcade games, flying kites, riding bikes, mini-bikes, riding horses, fishing, camping, swimming, skating at roller rinks, riding in back of trucks, circuses, carnivals, road side carnivals, pumpkin carving, building models, comics, hay rides, rock concerts, skateboards, Drive Inn Movies, CB radios, 8-track tapes, dance parties, great tv, movies, rodeos, and fireworks.
chroniclerofthe70s 7 months ago
QUIX4U 7 months ago

Thanks man! N8
n8tureboy 7 months ago
@n8tureboy I agree. You had to have grown up in a rural small town back in the 70s and early 80s to understand.
Kids were given lots of freedom. Back then, hunting rifles on racks were common and easily accessible to kids, yet not a single gun accident involving a kid occurred in my town.
Mini-bikes and 80cc motorcycles were popular then, too. We used to set up ramps and jump over obstacles like Evel Knievel. We got scrapes and cuts, a wash, a band aid, and we were back in business.

QUIX4U 7 months ago
@QUIX4U I'm referring to social, technological, and cultural events. In the U.S., only the early 70s was a continuation of the 60s with vietnam war, anti-war demonstrations, women's right's movement, and black power groups. What the 70s had the 60s didn't: Earth day, Abortion Rights, home digital games, commercial VCR's, Laserdisc players, Sony Walkman, Interacial marriage on TV sitcom, NMR medical scanners, CT-Scanners, Laser Printers, TCP internet protocol, and cellular mobile phones.
