@LDdiscovery Thanks for checking out the video. We are going to take this trail again in a couple of weeks. Should have some more good video to put up. Hopefully none of anyone on their side.
@TheBigrodger these are proper offroader not idiots like CUDA2266 and tom, tom ,tom, tom, who just get sites and lanes closed down with there idiot no-brain antics
@damrabbit yeh course mate proper slow off roads.......if u wana drive like that slow why dont you buy a ford ka and drive to asda!! Save you a fortune, fast off road is much more challenging and not to mention more fun to watch!! Dont have time for grandad slow off road, crawling over bumps!!
@TheBigrodger Well thanks for watching anyway. I agree that watching some trophy trucks or some of the crazy videos from Saudi Arabia are more action packed. Check out some of the off-road saudi arabia vids. They are something else.
@burgerman3 Thanks for watching burgerman. They are V8 Discos. We started a business called Tactical Rovers and my truck has been upgraded a lot since this video was shot. We should be putting up some new videos before long. We have been so busy with the business we haven't done much wheelin' lately. Thanks for watching.
this is the dumbest song i have ever heard lol did you pick this up from a mission impossible clip how about just purchase a four wheeler and save some gas and since you like to ruin it by driving down something that is guarenteed to flip and ruin your car maybe save some more money on the freakin repairs
@madman1487 I agree with you about the dumb music. I am not going to use dumb music in my future vids. I am an amateur at this, but am learning as I go. As for the rest of comments - Land Rovers are what do it for me.
@DiscoveriesOffRoad sorry i guess i was in a bad mood but it isnt so bad to see if you didnt have that music maybe some more easy going music lol you could alwayse play 'on the country road that would be pretty funny' but if this is your only hobby than have at it
@ddsurace My wife made me run with the adventure bear. I have been able to avoid it because I tell her it is bad luck and that is why Grant tipped over. It has worked so far.
@MrFerni97 Most people do not realize how capable they actually are. Most people don't use them the way they were intended to be used. Thanks for watching.
@DiscoveriesOffRoad . . . ah man that stinks, its the risk you take though. I've been close to doing that a few times. Why not have some pull ropes ready? . . . that may be something i start using.
Hi guys, good stuff. Trail videos are not easy sometimes. Keep it coming.
So, about the roll- tough obstacle, but plenty of traction. Spotters are invaluable on obstacles like that, and I like to walk the obstacle first to make sure I've picked the best line through. Also, were you in low range first gear? It looks almost like you were freewheeling just before the roll.
@MervandtheMagicTones Thanks for watching. I think he was probably in low range 1st gear, but can say for certain. It didn't look so bad from the top. Expensive lesson learned there.
@Zer0kbps Thanks for watching. We will have many more videos to come. We have started a company and are launching a new line of suspension products, bumpers, rock sliders and diff guards. We will be making a lot of videos in the future to document our off-road successes. Hope you will watch.
You guys look like you know some things about these Land Rovers. Im thinking about buying a 97 Disco and I know nothing about them. I've been reading on landroverforms and it seems they take a lot of maintenance. Whats your input on these vehicles? Good on the road and off road?
@alexancia5279 If you are interested in doing a lot of off-roading that would be an excellent investment. Mine is a '98 and it has taken me places I never knew existed. The Discovery 1 (which the 97 is) is a tremendously capable vehicle.
@DiscoveriesOffRoad What about on the road? Are they like Honda's and maintenance free for the most part? I heard they have bad problems with the head gaskets and electrical stuff like windows.
damn bro that sucks you had the steering pointing the right direction you shoulda hit the a throttle for like a foot the I was in the same situation in my dicovery its a 98 bone stock I drove it through a deep rut in muddy water came out on two wheel came close to flipping but It came out of it but these things are so tough good offroading brother keep on trucking
@wisam111 I think a little blip of the throttle might have kept him from going over. Sometimes it is easier to think of all of the things you should have done afterward. We certainly use spotters much more than we used to :-). Thanks for watching.
anytime man you do make a good point about how you could've prevented the damage after it happend but when the samething happend to me luckly I knew how to react so I pulled out of it but you guys did some really good things in this video when I went off roading with my freinds they weren't using any spotters when I asked about it they didn't answer but I would've loved to have a spotter lol do you know how much it is to lift a disco?
@optionstocks Thanks for watching. I am looking forward to making many more. We have started a business and have not had as much time to get out there.
@angelfer82 I am with you. We are looking forward to getting to some areas where we can do some good mud wheeling. Unfortunately, we don't get many opportunities to do that here in Southern California. Where are you located?
@DiscoveriesOffRoad hey, you should find a place to see those monsters in action, I have a 1998 Disco to, 4.0 V8; but some idiot put coolant into the engine (con you understand that?? jaja) and the engine blow up now I have to replace it.
I am from Honduras, en central america and there´s a lot of places in here that we can go and have have fun with the rovers
I guess the guy in the green disco' should learn to wheel a little better. LOL. I fell your pain though man. I was run off the road last year and rolled my disco' six times at 50 mph; walked away without a scratch though.
@bighitter1980 Wow, I am glad you made it out of that one. Sometimes we learn the most from our mistakes. Most of the lessons I have learned wheeling have come from failing in one way or another. That is what drives us to try new things and modify our vehicles more and more. Did you replace the Disco??
i've recently bought a 97 TDI 300 manual and am very happy with its offroad performance..miles ahead of my old pajero/shogun.. and its only got a 1" lift with firmer springs and shocks for pulling my camper trailer..
you say a 4.5" lift, what size rubber are you running..
plus i've subscribed as im always looking for cool disco videos.
@morphshag I would love to put a 300 TDI engine in my Rover. They are very rare here. I am running 265/75/16 tires on the tan Rover and the black one now has 32"x12"x15" I believe. We have started a company and are going to be posting up videos of our new suspensions and rock protection parts. I hope you will watch.
@DiscoveriesOffRoad well i have subscribed mate, so ill be watching whats going on. im interested to see what ur suspension and protection performs like. and its always good to see a disco getting used for what it was built for.
my 300 TDI is still pretty stock, although mechanically perfect even after 300,000 K's. i have turned the boost up to 17 PSI, then i'm getting a snorkle, then a bigger intercooler and injector pump mod. the its not a speed machine, but it'd drag a house down the street
@morphshag I can imagine the kind of torque you must get out of that TDI. I wish we had more access to diesel motors here. I will have a lot to come on the new products and the new company. I am really excited to highlight them. I hope you will be watching.
@deepspacenineincher Thanks, Deepspace. These vehicles will do more than what you would expect. A few simple modifications can make a huge difference, though.
@deepspacenineincher Thanks Deepspace. We should have some new videos up soon with improved suspensions on our vehicles. We hope to put on a good show without destroying them. Thanks for watching.
@anthonywasere I agree with you. I had just got my editing software and for some reason felt it was necessary to have music. I am not putting the music in the videos anymore. I got sick of hearing it myself!!
@DiscoveriesOffRoad ya video is great by the way. thanx and keep up the good work. ps be safe off roading. im a disco owner myself. and know the risks offroading ;-))
Seems that at 4:02 those guys standing up on the top of the hill should have been standing at the *bottom* of the hill telling the driver to turn into the hill instead of away from it. Bummer lesson to learn the hard way. I've been on my side twice, so I know it's way too easy to armchair-quarterback. Pretty sweet Disco's though guys. I hope you left that dent in the right front wing!
@tawayama You got that right. There were a few errors in judgement made on that day. Some of us tend to always learn it the hard way. Hopefully it will be a lesson I will remember!!
I liked your video.. I live in Utah. You should come to Moab this year with us. We go with the Dealer.. I have some Video of American Fork Canyon And Monte Cristo. They are just some spots near my house. Check them out I drive 02 Disco 2,
@BP3DP Thanks for watching. I used to live in Ogden. I might be up in Moab for the national ralley (land rover). I have been there before and loved it. I have been to Monte Cristo, but I was in a Nissan Stanza back in the '90s. I didn't know there were any good off road trails there. I bet there are though. Beautiful country there.
Great video and awesome driving. I live in Perth WA and drive a 04 Defender. Check out my vids to see Off Road Perth style. Nothing as insane as yours, I would cry if I tipped my car over. Nice vid, thanks for sharing it.
@timzp Thanks for watching Tim. I am going to check out your vids. This is a great trail and I am looking forward to doing it again - less the tip over of course!
Thanks for watching the video. I have some exciting upgrades coming up on the truck. I can't wait to get them done and get some good video of them in action.
It will scare you straight until the next time you go out and then you will push the limits in the same way. Atleast that is what I usually end up doing.
Thanks for watching. I am running a 3" Rovertym lift with pinion correcting radius arms, 265/75/16 Hankook RT03's (new tires), Detroit tru-tracs front and rear (just got them-not in any videos yet), Rovertym sliders, and Safari Guard bumpers. I will have some up-grades coming up that I will feature in some vids. I am looking forward to an Australia trip next year.
LOL, ur very kind to be understanding. each country has its fav. off roader and they all differ but the combined pation we all share for the sport is asesome. Im a Suzy Escudo chap and just love it. My sone has one too.
Exactly! Everyone likes different fourbys and each different one has good points, and not so good points! Its great to share a passion with diverse people and learn what people do to different 4X4's and techniques, after all the driver plays a HUGE part in a 4WD's capability! Keep Drivin mate!!
Thanks! One of the really great things about Land Rovers is that you can really find a pretty good one CHEAP. They are tremendously capable vehicles and a lot of fun. It really is not too difficult. They do like gas, though.
Yeah, your right. It was a bad line, and I wasn't spotting him. We do have some really great areas out here. Amazing to think it is all in Southern California. I have watched a lot of English videos. You guys get the water and the mud - we miss that here. What kind of fuel mileage you getting with the 300tdi? We don't get those here either.
It was a bad line. Needed to keep the wheel on the high spot. Thanks for watching. Some spotting would have been helpful, but I was busy with the camera.
What kind of boring place would Youtube be without guys like us F***ing up now and then. Thanks for watching. Got a couple new videos up now - I think we redeem ourselves some.
It was a great trail, and it would not take much to get your '96 outfitted. A lift is about all it takes to make a disco do some amazing things. What is your '69??
It's a green 88" that I have made right with earlier wings, breakfast, 16" wheels and 5" sills...totally proper. My first car back in '87 was a '63 88" so I was going for that early II/IIA look. I did the Truckhaven Hills Poker thing in 2004 if you were there you may have seen it.
Either a lift or clip/replace that front bumper. It's an SE7 so I have the fog lamps that are mounted low. I'd also like to do the Detroit Locker in the rear diff over the ARB. As long as I keep it looking fairly stock over the "trail/buggy" style.
Mine had the fog lamps originally, too. Mine is the LSE. I got the Safari Gard bumpers and skid plates and it made all the difference in the world. I also have a 3" rovertyme lift. I am thinking about stepping up to the Safari Gard 4.5" lift, though. I am slowly getting mine all Safari Garded out:).
Yes, if I had an LSE I would have done the bumpers right a way! The chrome and body color caps don't really go on Rovers. Those came in the gold color right? I can't remember seeing of another with the chrome...maybe black.
It definitely looks worse than it felt. It didn't feel too bad from the driver's seat, but watching the video shows that it was pretty unstable. Thanks for watching my video.
Just did that trail a few days ago. Where he rolled is the location we decided to turn around at. Now I am kind glad we did after seeing this video. Fun trail with some difficult parts. Glad everyone was OK.
The line I took wasn't too bad. I think it looked worse to the people watching than it felt to me. I had a tire up off the ground (can't see in the video because it is behind the rock) but it felt pretty stable. I am actually looking forward to running the trail again. It is a great trail, and we learned a good lesson on chosing the correct line.
Also.. so fess up.. how much to repair the body damage? If I were doing this with my vehicle I would probably not bother, your bound to push it beyond the limits again. You clearly do not care too much about the LR's appearance if your willing to push it to this point.
He used to work at a body shop, so he will likely make some level of repair (replace the mirror and pound the fender out so it is no longer touching the hood). The vehicle is a toy for him, so he is not too stressed about it.
We got out and looked at it, and I saw a Youtube video of someone making it on the line he took. When I look at the video I see that if he had turned harder left and kept his front passenger tire on the rock he might have been OK.
hey what is the brand of Kep's front bumper?

Excellent Video. You really managed to capture the 'feel' of the trail. Nicely rigged Disco's too.

Thanks for watching the video. I have some exciting upgrades coming up on the truck. I can't wait to get them done and get some good video of them in action.

I was about 5 inches from rolling down a 100 foot cliff last week and it scared me straight.
CourtyardPigeon 2 years ago
It will scare you straight until the next time you go out and then you will push the limits in the same way. Atleast that is what I usually end up doing.

This just shows how much you can do with the older Tdi Discoveries. Good video.

AWSOME vid mate, I bet you can show those Jeep owners a thing or two with those rigs! You have some awsome wheel travel, what mods have you done?
Cheers,
Australian Land Rover enthusiast!

@dergangedchipmunk
Ok mate, you are entitled to your opinion, my point being you dont see many Land rovers in America, its mainly Jeeps.

@cty90

Keep Drivin mate!!

what tires are you running on, those look like a nice size.
maggotsretards 2 years ago
They are 265/75/16's. They are about a 32" tire and work pretty well. Thanks for checking out my video.
DiscoveriesOffRoad 2 years ago
Wish I had the money to do that :) Good video
dominionsk8r1 2 years ago
Thanks! One of the really great things about Land Rovers is that you can really find a pretty good one CHEAP. They are tremendously capable vehicles and a lot of fun. It really is not too difficult. They do like gas, though.

buy a manual truck and you'll be fine LR autos are too jerky for rock climbing
miniboy84 2 years ago
A manual sounds like a lot of work, though. I like the ease of the auto (and my AC)
DiscoveriesOffRoad 2 years ago
Golden rule is keep off the brakes. Mind you its probably an Auto. You Americans are so lucky. We havnt got anything close to that in the UK.
300tdi90 2 years ago
Yeah, your right. It was a bad line, and I wasn't spotting him. We do have some really great areas out here. Amazing to think it is all in Southern California. I have watched a lot of English videos. You guys get the water and the mud - we miss that here. What kind of fuel mileage you getting with the 300tdi? We don't get those here either.
DiscoveriesOffRoad 2 years ago
The green landy took a bad line down that drop, and it didn't help that he was jerky. Nice video though!
drbubble33 2 years ago
It was a bad line. Needed to keep the wheel on the high spot. Thanks for watching. Some spotting would have been helpful, but I was busy with the camera.
DiscoveriesOffRoad 2 years ago
great video but the landy only rolled due to driver error , u let us down buddy , yr makin ladys look bad

What kind of boring place would Youtube be without guys like us F***ing up now and then. Thanks for watching. Got a couple new videos up now - I think we redeem ourselves some.

Do you want to hit Sidewinder again? Or the black diamond trail I found up by Heartbar.
D1Snobs 2 years ago
I would be good with either. We cut the day at sidewinder short. We were going to run Bronco Peak, too.
DiscoveriesOffRoad 2 years ago
I am definitely ready for a Labor Day weekend run.
DiscoveriesOffRoad 2 years ago
Looks like we need to get out there and get you some more video to post. How about labor day weekend?
D1Snobs 2 years ago
Cool video! Looks like a great trail. Someday I'll outfit my '96 to clear stuff like that, but I use my '69 for that now. Thanks!
keepitwildtv 2 years ago
It was a great trail, and it would not take much to get your '96 outfitted. A lift is about all it takes to make a disco do some amazing things. What is your '69??
DiscoveriesOffRoad 2 years ago
It's a green 88" that I have made right with earlier wings, breakfast, 16" wheels and 5" sills...totally proper. My first car back in '87 was a '63 88" so I was going for that early II/IIA look. I did the Truckhaven Hills Poker thing in 2004 if you were there you may have seen it.
keepitwildtv 2 years ago
Either a lift or clip/replace that front bumper. It's an SE7 so I have the fog lamps that are mounted low. I'd also like to do the Detroit Locker in the rear diff over the ARB. As long as I keep it looking fairly stock over the "trail/buggy" style.
keepitwildtv 2 years ago
Mine had the fog lamps originally, too. Mine is the LSE. I got the Safari Gard bumpers and skid plates and it made all the difference in the world. I also have a 3" rovertyme lift. I am thinking about stepping up to the Safari Gard 4.5" lift, though. I am slowly getting mine all Safari Garded out:).
DiscoveriesOffRoad 2 years ago
Yes, if I had an LSE I would have done the bumpers right a way! The chrome and body color caps don't really go on Rovers. Those came in the gold color right? I can't remember seeing of another with the chrome...maybe black.

6:16 it was close!

It definitely looks worse than it felt. It didn't feel too bad from the driver's seat, but watching the video shows that it was pretty unstable. Thanks for watching my video.
DiscoveriesOffRoad 2 years ago
Just did that trail a few days ago. Where he rolled is the location we decided to turn around at. Now I am kind glad we did after seeing this video. Fun trail with some difficult parts. Glad everyone was OK.
Zam15 2 years ago
The line I took wasn't too bad. I think it looked worse to the people watching than it felt to me. I had a tire up off the ground (can't see in the video because it is behind the rock) but it felt pretty stable. I am actually looking forward to running the trail again. It is a great trail, and we learned a good lesson on chosing the correct line.
DiscoveriesOffRoad 2 years ago
Also.. so fess up.. how much to repair the body damage? If I were doing this with my vehicle I would probably not bother, your bound to push it beyond the limits again. You clearly do not care too much about the LR's appearance if your willing to push it to this point.
Mshine67 2 years ago
He used to work at a body shop, so he will likely make some level of repair (replace the mirror and pound the fender out so it is no longer touching the hood). The vehicle is a toy for him, so he is not too stressed about it.
DiscoveriesOffRoad 2 years ago
4:00 Did you get out and look at the terrain? There looks to be only a few ways to do it successfully and a lot of ways end up crashing.
schmiddr2 2 years ago
We got out and looked at it, and I saw a Youtube video of someone making it on the line he took. When I look at the video I see that if he had turned harder left and kept his front passenger tire on the rock he might have been OK.
DiscoveriesOffRoad 2 years ago
Thanks, Eric. This is my new channel. We will have to hit that trail one of these days. It is a great trail.
