Lots of jibber jabber going on about Julian's voice cracking. It happens! He can hit those notes, I've seen him do it. Playing in a concert setting puts a alot of pressure on some people, enough to affect their vocals. I guess what I'm trying to say, my general thesis is.... JULIAN IS GOD!

@crayzeejen I like this band a lot and especially this song. But that 'solo' wasn't that special. I'm not hating, like I said; I like this band a lot! But it's just not very good. Google Jimi Hendrix (or any other remotely famous guitarist) and rethink what gives you an 'eargasm'

@pinglauwa you cant really hear the solo that well on this recording but its an amazing solo one of their best!! its pretty original ,uses a pretty weird scale , hendrix pretty much used to stick to the most standard scale in guitar = the pentatonic

Just because this solo is on a wierd scale doesn't mean it's either bad or good. I just didn't really think that it was "eargasm material" But then again. Good/bad is subjective. So just because I prefer Hendrix (or you prefer Strokes) doesn't make either better.

Of course, you could from an objective perspective look at who were/is the most original for their time. Who influenced the most people etc.

Dont you never heard about vocalizing? Its one of the most difficult voice exercices when you learn how to sing, thats what hes trying to do there, its like a scale you have to go up and up till the limit of your voice! Even in practise its not easy to do, so imagine in a middle of a concert life after maybe 8-10 songs !Try it by yourself and post it on youtube, just to have a good laugh ....

Fuck you guys. The Strokes are amazing even with a couple voice cracks. I'm pretty sure this was probably towards the end of the tour and show, and he was losing his voice from yelling so much. His last scream was amazing 4:37, and so was the rest of the song.

I dont go making a list of all band's vocalists name and check who hits more high notes but it dont really cares to me.i prefer to like the vocalist just because I like how he sounds.

With out jules there is no ize of the world, he wrote it, as he wrote most of the strokes songs.

Hes a genious, and so what if he didnt hit the high notes on this performance, he does sometimes manage to, and this sound great anyway.

they like recording their studio versions as if they were played live, he can hit the high notes probably just not after being on tour and playing concerts every night. that lifestyle takes a toll on your voice.

Yeah they're great. I love their music and yes they're icons of rock, to say the least. But I have to disagree with you about Strokes being grunge. I would say they are strongly influenced by grunge but they're not grunge at all. It doesn't make their music worse in any sense, I'd dare to say they have created a whole new definition in rock. They're genius.

Yeah he got em on the album but they're still pretty unstable.

This song is still sick. they should've done it in a lower tuning so that he can hit the notes flawlessly. It's very shaky.
