Was this one B/C made from several aircraft (as I suspect) or a single aircraft? ( --okay with a different engine.) If the latter is the case, then what was the serial number?
DO Forget that "making believe" non-sense that this was a 9th AF 332nd FG aircraft. WHAT was it's ACTUAL history or do none of you in reality care at all about Historical accuracy?
i saw this aircraft at geneseo ny at the airshow today. almost brought tears to my eyes. the crash made me really upset. the pilot that lost his life can now rest in peace, im sure this is what he would have wanted, for them to fly it again and not give up on such a good mission and a great "C" model mustang. wonderful job on the rebuild too, i was really pleased and glad they didnt give up on the aircraft after the accident. keeping them alive keeps the spirit of the men alive
For all practical purposes it is a new aircraft, and we had 100% confidence in the workmanship. With mentors such as the Tuskegees, Don and Gerry we could not fail.
Congradulations!!! I Know the feeling, just like when we had the first flight of the SB2C. Hope to see it at Midland, just stop me and the drinks are on me. Gator Aid of course, just look for the golf cart with the 2 yellow jugs!
I actually got to fly in this airplane with Doug Rozenthaal in Waterloo Ia. The most amazing airplane I have ever been in!

It would take a lot of balls to climb back into the cockpit of a plane that had previously crashed and killed its pilot.

Very good to see Red Tail back in the air where it belongs. Hope Hinz' family knows they will always be remembered with the aircraft.
