@Devilsjester99 Yes they would if you dont clear your ears....If you dont clear your ears your looking at at trip to your ear doctor..It has happened hundreds of times to me..I always go down to 80 Feet in our nearbly Lake...Do you Freedive?
Herbert, at 3:21 did you lose the black card? looks like another diver went down to pick it up and give it back to you before reaching the surface or maybe you took two of them at the botttom? At the end, when breathing oxygen, it looks like you have another black card, is it that way?
Not to be rude but william trubridge could go that deep or deeper using the rope you should use no rope but again you can go way deeper than me unless you want to consider a submarine to count
i'm drinking a mix of rehydration and aspirin. it is purely to counteract decompression sickness. Afterwards I breath 100% Oxygen under water for the same reason.
@nitschherbert thank you for taking the time to answer and for giving me hours of amazement, since i saw your first video "intro", i've been dreaming about diving the way you do so i started going to the swimming pool for about 4 months and i have reached 4 minutes in static and 50 mts dnf without a teacher(because here in Chile there's no people practicing apnea as a sport) but i always ask the lifeguard to watch me. So please keep posting your videos!!
@nitschherbert why would you get decompression sickness if you are not breathing any air during the dive? i thought that only happened with scuba, because you are constantly breathing more nitrogen...
@nitschherbert Is decompression sickness the same as the bends? Because I thought you could only get the bends if you were scuba diving, and not free diving.
@peanutmaster1231 The bends is the formation of nitrogen bubbles in your bloodstream due to rapid changes in pressure; it occurs when you rise too quickly, regardless of what method you are using to dive.
What is he doing after its official? tied to a rock and using a regulator(*)? Is this some kind of decompression practice? I'm rather unfamiliar with the terminologies of the sport.
@TheBen642There are different disciplines in the sport, one where you have to dive with no aid at all or one where you can dive with the aid of flippers and so on
Also, if there is no nose plug, the high pressure would force water up his nostrils (water: high pressure, air in sinuses and nose: low pressure. Fluids and gases move from areas of high concentration/pressure to low concentration/pressure) and most probably drown him.
@mn6132836 How can it be cheating when it's free immersion. You need to learn about the various disciplines before trying to insult such a great free diver. Show some respect!
@D503z WWhen you are scuba you are breathing air that has pressure equal water pressure. When you are freediving mechanism is similar except fact that you are not breathing. But diver has air in lungs with pressure that is only a little bit less than water's pressure. Freediving is relatively short, but diver has a lot of nitrogen in lungs on quite big deep. When you add additional warmup dives before attempt the risk is increasing, so take a few minutes with O2 is a good idea.
MAD RESPECT for this guy he is just in a league of his own untouchable i grew up where pipin waa from and i've dived and spearfish n this guy is unbelivable but wouldn't this fall under constant weight since he used the neck collar also can somebody tell me the purpose of the coke bottle on his no limit record of 214 meters
'wouldn't this fall under constant weight since he used the neck collar'
nope - in Constant weight you are not allowed to use the rope for propulsion. You would either fin down or breast stroke next to the line. Only time you can touch the rope is at the turn and at the surface.
apart from blatant advertising the bottle is used for equalisation - he takes his last breath at the surface, dives to i think about 25-30m then unloads air into the bottle. When he needs to equalise, he sips from the bottle and uses that air to balance the pressure build up.
Why - basically because its really rather hard to bring air from your lungs up to use for equalisation after about 30m (there are ways but the further you go the harder it is) so the bottle makes this whole process easier.
Is it cheating - no, not according to the rules its still the air he took with him at the surface from his last breath (the bottle was full of water at the surface i.e. no air in it) its just that its outside his body
@faithfullyblind there are different types of freediving. there are records for freedives with fins, without fins, using weighted sleds for the descent and using air balloons for ascents, using a sled on descent and only pulling rope on ascent. all kinds of different types
@Demrush its free diving as he doit with his surface breat, whatever you like this modality or not, is another legal modality with different records of the CNF that you are referring, by the way i supose you say this cause of the great william , mr trubridge does this modality too , actually yesterday trainging for the progect hector he did 119 meter, both modalitys are free diving so , respect for any freediving modality, (btw my prefered one is CNFby far and william is the hero)
@slingkinglee . Pardon me, I just went to puke. The sight of your yellow crooked teeth is too much to bear..... Is that from the food at English restaurants?

Discipline
FIM (free immersion)
•open water discipline
•diving with the aid of a rope for propulsion
•dive as deep as possible by pulling the rope
•tag (small plate or card) will be brought on the surface from the announced depth
•propulsion devices are not allowed

@D503z Probably he inhales pure oxygen to reduce nitroogen level from blood. He is very shallow because oxygen is toxic in presure over 1.6 atm.

There are different disciplines in freediving, Free Immersion allows the athlete to use the rope.
Right before the dive he is packing, not swallowing air, he just presses more air into his lungs.
phoenixausdemschnee 1 year ago
I wouldn't consider this free diving, grabbing and using the rope to descend is an unfair advantage over people who actually swim down there.
