If I was a performance horse, I would be SO GLAD to have this lady come visit. Horses cannot tell us where they hurt or have tension, and sometimes owners notice 'misbehaviour' such as vices, cold backedness, bucking etc and the rider cannot understand why. It often manifests as reduced performance ability and sourness. Most times it is due to pain/locked up muscles/tension. But the horse cannot tell us, only wait for us to have the vet or a horse physio/kinesiologist come by to check the horse.
It is good to see someone working with performance horses and nice to see how well you can 'read' their muscles. I think horses get tensed/sore muscles and locked up areas from repetitive routines. It can be very helpful to vary the sytems: instead of doing the same thing, day in, day out.
Instead of always riding on the bit, always collected, and made to perform over and over. Why not take every second day a 'varied training day' let them stretch out, amble along on a long rein, go trail riding, swim the horse, or just vary the routine. Some people may snort at this idea but it works, and it makes sense. Think of pilates, only for horses: stretching makes them more fluid and elastic and able to perform better. Also less health problems and less injury.
