She is a well known Norwegian Soprano...but was little known to the USA for a very long time... eventually promoters brought her to the USA to play small venues....it has been an uphill climb for this beauty....She is divorced and with two children.

yes, Carmen is a great soprano. There are songs nobody has been able to do better.
Wrong song for her. Over the rainbow is a little girl's song and doesn't suit an operatic voice. Judy Garland nailed it as few others have. As for Sissel, her version of shenandoah is absolutely superb.

utterly beautiful...love this song, as does everyone...which unfortunately means that it will be redone over and over again, but this is the ultimate version of this song her voice is perfect, and it probs always will be the ultimate version.
This is by far the finest voice in the world! Too bad Celine Dione got all the credit for the Titanic soundtrack. Actually James Horner wrote the entire soundtrack for Sissels voice, but the film studio (Paramount Studios) did not feel that her name was famous enough too front the movie.

Wrong song for her. Over the rainbow is a little girl's song and doesn't suit an operatic voice. Judy Garland nailed it as few others have. As for Sissel, her version of shenandoah is absolutely superb.

Moreover, a musical study would help you to appreciate a singing voice regardless if they match the song or not, and then you may come back to produce a more suitable answer.

Now after a second chance, you fail to support your loose claim, I say it's reasonable to conclude you strugle with psychosis. Thus, my proposal you look up a shrink is justified.

This is a really beautiful rendition of the song, but I have to say, Judy Garland brought a kind of sadness to it that has never quite been repeated. I suspect this was because she sang this song from, what was for her, a sad place. Perhaps, from an empty place in her heart.

Alex, I do understand your objection, but I fail to see how living in a society where everyone is hailing mediocrity even remotely could be responsibile for Sissel's grace and gentleness. Even though I could agree she got these qualities while singing, but when talking this is all gone. Then she's not much unlike any Joe, or even worse. Pardon me for saying the obvious, but then she appears like a home schooled kid if arrogancy I do like, but it got nothing to do with graceness nor being gentle.

This is by far the finest voice in the world! Too bad Celine Dione got all the credit for the Titanic soundtrack. Actually James Horner wrote the entire soundtrack for Sissels voice, but the film studio (Paramount Studios) did not feel that her name was famous enough too front the movie.
Too bad.
