1. They did not create it. It was made by infrant but Netgear bought them out.

2. I also own a buffalo and it pretty much does the same thing but the readynas is faster and can be expanded on the fly. I just added larger drivers and it reconfigured itself for the larger total volume( which the buffalo could not).

3. It also has like built in servers for squeezebox music system by logitech and some other cool features. Yeah, its pretty cool system.

I own one of each of the first two versions. I wish I could trade in my first generation NV for one of these.

And I thought the NV+ was amazing --- this NAS is awesome!  Fast, quiet and full-featured. A great upgrade for those who want maximum performance.
