SMALL FACES, THE FACES, and or ROD STEWART AND THE FACES, all of the incarnations in my opinion were fantastic.
To this day, I still consider the Faces to be one of the best rock bands that ever staggered onto a stage. You never knew what was going to happen, but one thing was for sure, you were in for a good time, and that to me is what Rock and Roll is all about.
@Spankinstine I have read that Itchycoo Park was the name given to a local park in the east End area where the lads all lived. It was a well known meeting places for courting couples and also had a lot of brambles/nettles so anyone using it usually finished up with itching skin
steve marriot is way better then rod big nosed stewart.stewart stole his spot for what reason idk.but this guy steve made shit weird and cooler then rod.
@brickbat44 Since I was speaking of my own personal experience as a kid, your opinion is less than worthless. Please put your own tiny cock back in your own mouth, suck it good, and go bother someone else.
@PikPobedy it's called flanging. They probably would have used two tape decks with the same thing recorded on both of them, and then mixing the signals together..
Marriot was the first guy to have his guitar that low. Nobody else did it until the 80s. Now, almost everybody does it that way. That's how I play it!
@awsomethingsmax2 I think you're right---I can't think of anyone else who played it that way back then. In 1972, Humble Pie was the first group we ever saw live. Steve Marriott was great.
"cooltooth112" I think the connection was Rod Stewart fronted the band "The Faces" after Steve Marriott..........they are actually reforming with Glen Matlock (ex Sex Pistol) on bass in place of Ronnie Lane, and Mick Hucknall fronting in place of Rod Stewart.
I am 55 and for some reason I always thought that this was Rod Stewart's first hit. What connection did he have with this song? Maybe backup singer? Maybe he was a member of The Small Faces at some point in time. Can anybody tell me the connection?
Played this song in a band in the 60s. We couldn't do the flanging part live until the 70's when flangers became readily available. Great Hammond work.
I didn't know this song came out in '67. I am surprised they allowed the lyric "we got high." Anyone know if this is actually live or if it is overdubbed. I would love to hear them play it live.
@uswmsa41 The song was removed from some AM stations when the lyrics were recognized. College stations (FM) still played though. Listen to the Small Faces "Here Come the Nice" for some more strange lyrics.
Great!

What is the electonic distortion effect that becomes around 0:50 to 1:15 and is especially evident on the drums at 1:00 and a bit after. And later.

Appears to be dubbed, as near the fade, Steve is backing his own vocal with a
stronger "it's all too beautiful", as he did on the studio version. Certainly one of
the best.
