The early rolling stones interviews suck....they never say anything interesting and look rather uncomfortable on camera. They almost act like they dont know each other.. You watch Beatles interviews and the charisma radiates they were four parts of the same body
The media (a bunch of old farts) went to the press conference intent on bursting the bubble. Instead, they came away charmed. What they -- and we -- didn't know was that The Beatles wwere already veterans at dealing with media.
My favorite part of the whole interview though was when they asked them about the comment that they're just British Elvis Presleys and Ringo starts dancing like him going "IT'S NOT TRUE! IT'S NOT TRUE!"
I love the Beatles wit and fun attitude. It's funny to see the press agent telling everyone to be quiet. The Beatles were introduced to the US when the U.S. was suffering the loss of President Kennedy. They brought a lot of joy and happiness to so many. Nothing today can ever compare. There will NEVER be a band of the magnitude of the Beatles to even compare with. I wish I was around during the 60s, but at least I have the music.
HAHAHAHA!!!!! Dear paul mccartney, i love you to death, you are HILARIOUS. haha the way he say "hey murray." his attempted american voice is histerical, i swear.
ugh-the constant ridiculous questions about their hair! No wonder they detested the press later on.I apologize for the stupidity of others. They looked fantastic..
all thro thie lives, besides their fabulous musical talents, THE FAB FOUR were a interviewer's delight , with their intelligent quick wit, and humour.. always priceless.
they were'nt called THE FAB FOUR for nothing!! never to be forgotten..!!
@marniedrew OMG, yeah! How stupid is that?? Sometimes I look at these American press conferences with their stupid questions and I wonder if the boys thought Americans were daft or what-not. I haven't seen enough other interviews to tell if the press anywhere else asks just as stupid questions. Maybe they do. Still, as an American, myself, it's always painful to hear the stupidity from the presses mouths.
@Cozycriter The worst interview I ever heard was one in Canada qhere the guy is talking to ringo, and then turns to paul and says: You're a favorite here... paul says, Oh I thought Ringo was!! The guy answers: Nooo, your good looks go down better here. And Ringo's eyes widen, poor paul looks down and says "gee"... and as soon as the guy turns around, paul and Ringo exchange this look that says: wow, this guy's a real tool!!! Basically, he called ringo UGLY to his face. Retards...
@marniedrew Oh, I know exactly the interview you're talking about! I actually put it on my Walkman 'cause I luv the way John mocks the reporter in the end with his "You don't get out much?..see the bricks?..." talking to George after the reporter seemed to earlier taunt John about not sight-seeing..lol. He may as well have slapped Ringo & told him he was too ugly to live, & then the way he obnoxiously told George, "I didn't miss you..you were busy" (something like that). Really rude..I hear u.
@shikiku Search "British Elvis Presleys" or just look under my uploads and you'll find it. I couldn't find it on YouTube either, so I just uploaded it myself!
George looks shy!! It's little wonder these boys became the monopoly of an entire generation. Once the Beatles landed nobody else got a look in for 7 years following. Still today, nobody can compete.

Did they REALLY merit this kind of treatment? I mean, really? Or was it all publicity and we have all been taken in? Yup. We have.

@Ladymanico. No, it was February 7,1964. They made their first appearance on the Ed Sullivan show two days later. The Beatles broke up in 1970.

Is there a more iconic image from the early '60's than that of the Beatles standing up against the Pan Am backdrop at JFK? I think not.
