  • One must feel sorry for this woman.

  • It's actually really hard to be funny, so thank you Florence for making me pee my pants :-D

  • The ideal match would have been FFJ and the Portsmouth Symphonia. Magic! Sadly different eras.

  • Heavens to Darlene Edwards! This woman's voice has to be heard to be believed! THANKS for posting...though my eardrums may never be the same. If Hyacinth Bucket tried to sing opera, this is probably what she'd sound like! Wasn't one of the toilets at the New York Metropolitan Opera named for her ???

  • At least she had good taste for music!!! All these young stupid singers of today are much worse than her!!!

  • Florence Foster Jenkins, the MirandaSings08 of her generation. LOLZ! The only difference is that Florence wasn't a character...

  • Un VRAI massacre!! Pas moyen de faire pire!!

  • 0:52- 1:09 - time of TOTAL disaster! xD

  • erm guys actually she only got famous because of her rich husband...

  • @Goig3D JUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • injustamente vilipendiada

  • Remarkable.

  • Florence had balls and for that I respect her. She loved singing so much that she didn't let it stop her even when people made fun of her. As long as it doesn't hurt others do what you love and be passionate enough to ignore the critics. 65 years later she can still hold an audience with her tone deaf performance. Do you think they will say the same for Brittney Spears in the year 2075?

  • @dogsayswoof08 it actually hurts.

If You enter a badly designed building where water drops from the badly constructed ceiling and You get mad at the inconvinience just think what Florence did in music terms.

If Florence would sing for herself it is totally acceptable. But promoting bad things is obviously cool nowadays - one could even say that people actually devote more to that than promoting good music, because You can be way more sure about a bad performance.

  • @tonieprawda We listen to her because she is so bad it's funny, but also because of her delusions. As to nowadays, in her time she sold out Carnegie Hall and counted many famous people among her "admirers" including Caruso, Cole Porter and Gian Carlo Menotti. People loved to laugh at her then, and people love doing it now. In terms of harm to music I'd consider mediocrity of popera and tv talent shows far more harmful than this obviously bad singing.

  • @tonieprawda Er what?

  • I never realised how good I was at singing until I heard this... it sounds like she shrieking in pain, and I hate to think about how that poor pianist suffered... he must have been holding his breath to stop himself falling of his chair laughing!

  • I never realised how good I was at singing until I heard this... it sounds like she shrieking in pain, and I hate to think about how that poor pianist suffered... he must have been holding his breath to stop himself falling of his chair laughing!

  • lol I remember hearing this one time in chamber orchestra, and I just remembered her. Too funny, but yes kudos for still proceeding.

  • I heard about Florence on NPR's quiz show "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me" and I thought it was by far the funniest thing I'd ever heard. Glad to find it here. SO FUNNY!

  • Amazing!!! Had never heard of her, I'm astonished to her willingness to proceed, perhaps, she just didn't realise how incorrect she was....

  • "Oh, did somebody step on a duck?" - Rodney Dangerfield

  • FAIL

  • florence is a fuckin beast.<3

  • Hey, this makes me sound really good. :-) I never had a high F so it doesn't matter. LOL

  • Tone deaf is too kind....Wish I was deaf..

Maybe I am deaf and this is the first sign

  • hahahahahahaaaaaa XDDDD

  • People may say I can't sing, but they can never say I didn't sing.

  • Outstanding performance

  • I love this so much!!! Bless the lovely Florence.

  • someone pass me a shotgun

  • hahahahahahahahah

  • block ur ears?

    YES

  • romaticismo mode on

  • So, she can't sing, but I bet she's a mean cook!

  • i'd rather like her than berlusconi singing with apicella

  • Guacala!

  • Her voice was not ugly, the only problem is that she sang out of tune, but she didn't have an ugly voice.

And it's controversial the information that says that she has died happy, I've heard that the cause of her death was depression because she realized she couldn't sing.

  • Brillianttttttttttttttttttt!

  • FloJo you are my IDOL!!!! Damrau and Dessay are inferior compared to you! Coloratura Queen you reign!!!

  • hmmmm.... orginal

  • Well... at least she died happy :S

  • the original American Idol auditinee

  • OMG!!! SHE IS SOOO FUUUNNY!!! she can't sing like this... is wrong... but well, at least she is happy singing this kind of music.

  • shame on you!! this is the proof that anyone can do anything they like no matter what the others think. we should learn from this examples of courage and perseverance. viva foster jenkins... even so, this is the greatest homage, people like you is still interested in her and her singing even if you don't like it.

  • porra parabéns hein do caralho

  • SUCKS!

    and I AM a musician

  • hm, you're the first person to ever notice :-)

  • Let it never be said that LACK OF TALENT cannot be trumped by sheer FORCE OF WILL and PASSION! RIP Florence! You live on for all the wrong reasons, but you still live on!

  • Well at least she likes it.

  • ¿La Castafiore? ¡No! ¡La catástrofe!

  • Only in U.S.A. ...

  • Comment removed

  • Sounds like a dog barking 0.0 my choir teacher showed us this. we started cracking up

  • jajaja

  • OMG she's horrible this song only can be sung for a real good voice LOL

  • I have read all the previous comments and there are plenty of critics.

Will they post their own renditions of this aria now or wait until they too are in their seventies?

  • You don't have to be a great basketball player to know someone doesn't play well.

So too with music. The critics need not be great musicians to know that this sounds terrible.

  • @martinusvantee And therein lies the whole point to all this. You gotta love her though...she plugged on, massacring the classics right and left! The composers whirling in their graves could produce enough energy to light the world for YEARS!

  • se adelantó a Ketty Marteau!

  • She didn't sound good, but make her dream come true, even with thousands and maybe million of people worldwide laughing at her. Brave her for that. :)

  • that's some of the most sensitive bullshit i've ever heard. the only way she was able to do it was because her father died and left her with a huge inheritance. maybe she would have gotten better if someone told her she sucked?

  • That's just it. Critics assailed her from all sides, and yet she persevered with a bullet-proof sense of her own talent. You could have sliced up her denial into enough planks to re-roof a barn.

  • spettacolare!!!!!!!!!!

  • Tudo é possivel ! Ela sabia o que estava fazendo e quem a cercava eo que queriam !!!!

  • No sabía nada de ella. Estoy completamente impresionado. Maravilloso.

  • I love this because she's terrible but she didn't care! bless her heart!

  • It's not that she didn't care, it's that she actually thought she was talented, and thought her critics were just jealous of her talent.

  • Brava!!! better than maria callas and diana damrau!!! lol sure... hasta mi abuela canta mejor...wait... mi abuela esta muerta! lol

  • horrendous -____-

  • Goodness me! I haven't heard this since my music teacher played it to me in 1981!

  • She's the Stephanie Meyer of Opera.

  • She was self deluded, but deep down did she know she was deluding herself?

    Or care?

Her Carnigie performance was a complete sell out and everyone had a great time - who cares why? ;-)

    She did once say:

"People may say I can't sing, but no one can ever say I didn't sing."

  • Che meraviglia!!! Così si canta!

  • la competencia de Ketty Marteau.

  • She's SUPREME! Incredible! Very Talented, a must have!

  • I've heard of her, but this is the first time I have listened to her sing...OMG!!! How horrible! It's true!

  • I've heard that she paid people to let her sing...I use to have both her CD's lmao I think they were on iTunes.

  • OMG!

I never heard such a thing!!! WTF!??! It would be tragic if it weren't COMIC! What language is she siging?!?!!? Really, it's memorable!!! How could someone be SO self-confident!??! Really, it's ingenious! hahahahahha God, I won't stop laughing that soon....

  • great, thank you!

  • lol my chorus teacher told us to all look her up....

i guess he was trying to show us what not to do lol...

  • Unabashed by her audiences' laughter, "the first lady of the sliding scale" continued to massacre operatic classics, once even selling out Carnegie Hall.

She must have some courage <3

  • The Glory (????) of the human voice.

Hahahaha, es toda una diva XD

  • From 3:01 to 3:07: Imagine for a moment that jacket with "LIVING STEREO" at its top-left corner. Noooo, better don't pay attention to this, so you don't have nightmares from now on. LLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!

  • how did she die, i wonder?

  • One week later, she had a heart attack (true).

  • I love Florence Foster Jenkins! What moxy, what self-confidence, what a bizarre and wonderful approach to music...if ya like it, sing it, even if you have no vocal skills whatsoever.:)

  • hahahahaaha

    qe barbara mujer

    pobre mozart

si viviera ella lo volvia a matar

de lo horrible qe canta :SS

  • Reminds me of Karaoke.... there's always one of these.

  • That poor, poor pianist! If Mozart wasn't already dead, I'd say she killed him.

  • having read a serious crits report many years ago re FFJ, it will surprise listeners -(nay - astound listeners!)to learn that she filled The Carnegie Hall to the rafters at her concerts !!!

I suppose it is not every day you get the chance to listen to a voice from another planet !

Just imagine - if youi employed her as a guard dog how secure you would be !! hahaha.

    Jollychappy49

  • puhahahaha... wth...

  • she sounds like a monkey around 2.38 not a yapping dog

  • Weird Pennsylvania wasn't lying

  • Dobrze ze Mozart tego nie slyszy..;d

Good that mozart this don't listen...

  • I think i just shit myself from the scare.....

  • Perhaps Bowie was just being a nice guy....

  • El pianista acompañante merece un monumento! Y el final, sin palabras.

  • JAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJA SIIII tienes 100% de razón JAJAJAJAJA!!

  • Around 2:38 though she kind of sounds like a yapping puppy.

  • i love this somehow

David Bowie is a big fan

  • Ditto. It's not the absolute worst.

  • i like her singing. its odd yes, but odd is good.

  • I 100% agree!!!

  • oh fuck me. that is terrible

  • wow, i think i'll go kill myself now...thank you.

  • JAJAJAJAJAJAJJAJ!!!

  • jajajajaja nunca habia oido algo parecido jajaja

  • jjjjjjjjjaaaaaaaaaaaaajjjjjjjjjjjaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • Forget that I mentioned William Hung. Only Wing

has what it takes to join the group.

  • She and Mrs. Miller are "singing" duets for God as we speak. They are waiting for Wing and William Hung to make it a quartet.

  • blessed are they that still have their hearing after this one!

  • maldita viejaaaaa jajajajajaja

  • X-factor before it's time

  • Best queen of the night ever!! Lol

  • She was actually very famous for her lack of...tone, rhythm, pitch, sound, and her ability to you know, not hold a note. Even if she sucks, its good to know she did what she loved and died happy =P

  • C'est terrible !

  • lol what a wonderful singer!!!!!!....NOT!

  • she is the "murder on the high c's"

  • I heard that she always had sellout shows, not coz she was good, but because she was so bad!

  • A rooster could do better job than this!

  • the ad-lib ending is by far my FAVORITEST part

  • she's not even singing the words right.

  • That was her craft! This woman has sang at Carnegie Hall. Tickets sold out weeks in advance! LOL

  • yeah because people wanted to laught of her!

  • by far the worst queen of the night i heard!

  • ok she is the bomb dot com okbye

  • perfetto...

    o mio dio...

appena avro aspettare il questo canto, morero.

    perfetto detone soprano...

  • OMG THIS IS SO AWESOME! SHE BEATS EVERY SINGLE SOPRANO EVER!!

    flagstad rules foreva.

  • she tried her best...

  • Genial!!! Gracias!

  • Cole Porter heard her once in person, started beating his hand on a table and said, "I can't stand it! I can't stand it!" Her accompanist, Cosme McMoon does very well, but didn't want his real name used. Mme. Jenkins was the first real La Supenda, and thought she was far superior to Tetrazzini. In her own way, I suppose.

  • Yes The accompagnator is really good beacuse he manges to stay in time with her and even alterates slightly the partition so he stays in tune with her

  • i actually like this

Mon pauvre petit Mozart!!

  • Terrible, verschrikkelijk, brrrrr prrrr hahahahahahahaha, Wie is hier gekkkkkk
