I t was very obvious Bonds was on steroids. He had great athletic ability, but he did not have the genetics to be very muscular. What led to Bond's home run record was the smaller strike zone, juiced baseballs, smaller parks and the maple bats. I believe the owners and especially Bud Selig wanted an offense explosion at all cost and in the end when it was over done (esp. Sammy Sosa); they could blame it on steroids.
People don't realize other factors leading to Bonds with more than Aaron, namely the fact that the offseason could be used for working out rather than jobs, the fact that traveling is quicker and easier, and the fact that fields have been shorter. Don't blame steroids which have a negative effect as well, but blame these changes.

There can be a decent debate on whether the amphetamines that were legal when Aaron played Actually had a larger effect on home run numbers than Steroids by actually allowing players to remain fresh for an entire 162 game season. You can't look at total Home Run numbers as an indication because the core of the ball can be changed by MLB to add or decrease home run numbers. I'm not saying that Barry Bonds was right, Just saying you have to go back further to escape performance enhancing drugs.

There can be a decent debate on whether the amphetamines that were legal when Aaron played Actually had a larger effect on home run numbers than Steroids by actually allowing players to remain fresh for an entire 162 game season. You can't look at total Home Run numbers as an indication because the core of the ball can be changed by MLB to add or decrease home run numbers. I'm not saying that Barry Bonds was right, Just saying you have to go back further to escape performance enhancing drugs.

Anybody who thinks that Bonds simply broke the record, only because he took steroids. Obviously, knows nothing about the game of baseball, and never played it at a high level. bonds wouldn't have been anywhere near aaron's 755 home runs without the PEDs..hank is the real mlb home run king. he did it with natural athleticism, strong wrists, hands and forearms and a short powerful swing. he did it by hitting 35-40 home runs every year most of his career, great consistancy which shows how great of an all around hitter he was. bonds had his best hr totals in his mid-late 30s when he should have been breaking down, shows you what the PEDs did for him
