Great lesson. I think hitting the 9th instead of just going straight to a flat third is what gives BB his signature major pentatonic sound. With the bend on the 9th up to the flat third you get that minor sound otherwise it would sound too major.

When playing like BB. You have to be able to play 3 notes and make them sing. Play these 3 notes like it's the last time you'll ever play guitar, and you'll be in the same mind space as the King.

Play around with some chords around the G pentatonic scale and see what works for you. G A and C are all good starting points IMHO
